****NEW for 2026**** We’ve opened up our previously locked off master with a king bed to guests, with a king bed, a private en suite bathroom, a sitting room, and a dedicated workspace. Welcome to Lone Bear Cabin, a mountain view retreat on three private acres near Luray, Virginia. You have the entire place to yourself for the stay. This is our own getaway too, so we keep it clean, comfortable, well stocked, and maintained the way we want it when we arrive.
THE SPACE * The upstairs primary suite has a king bed, en suite bathroom, a sitting room, and a dedicated workspace * The second upstairs bedroom has a king bed. * The main level bedroom has a queen bed. * The basement has a futon in an open area, and it is best for a child or teen since it is not as comfortable as a bed and has limited privacy.
BATHROOMS * The home has three full bathrooms. * Two bathrooms are tub and shower combos. * The en suite master bathroom is a shower only.
WE AND OUR GUESTS LOVE: * The Big mountain and valley views from the the back deck * The covered hot tub deck with a view of the mountains * Our basement pool table and game space, especially for families and rainy days. * Starlink WiFi suitable for streaming and video calls (speeds can vary in storms) * ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 EV charger, 40 amp for the J1772 connector * The kitchen is truly set up for cooking, with plenty of space and the tools we need to cook * The property is quiet, peaceful, and very private which allows for great stargazing on clear nights. * The location is a great home base for Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, and Luray. * Comfortable beds and a cabin that feels like a real home, not a bare bones rental.
KITCHEN * The kitchen is fully equipped for real meals, and we provide both drip and Keurig coffee makers. * If you cannot find something or an item is worn, message us and we will replace it quickly.
RIVER ACCESS We are not riverfront, but the neighborhood Home Owners Association (HOA) provides river access to the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. Bring your own tubes or kayaks. Adult life jackets are available upon request, and we recommend bringing child sizes if needed.
There are two access points. The first 0.9 miles away with parking available, and the second 1.2 miles away for drop-off and pick-up. Enjoy tubing for about two hours or kayaking for about 30 minutes between these points.
CABIN POINTERS * Keep in mind our well, our septic and space are neither equipped, licensed nor insured to host more than 6 people. Please reach out if you are unsure if our place is suitable for your daytime visitors if you will go above our max occupancy. * Dogs only are welcome, with up to 2 dogs under 50 pounds each, and the pet fee is $100 per stay. * We recommend crating dogs if they will be left alone and we ask that dogs stay off beds and upholstered furniture. * No smoking or vaping is allowed. * Filtered well water is drinkable, and the home uses a septic system, so please flush toilet paper only. * About one mile of graded gravel road leads to the cabin, and compact two wheel drive sedans are fine except during the worst snow storms. We personally drive our compact ford focus and we rarely have access issues except in heavy snow * The neighborhood clears the road during major snow events, but conditions can vary, so all wheel drive is recommended during heavy snow. * A fragrance free laundry option is available on request for a small supply cost.
HOT TUB Indulge in the ultimate relaxation experience with our 600-gallon Sundance Maxxus Hot Tub, comfortably fitting up to 8 people. Our dedicated cleaners and hot tub service company ensure it’s always in top condition. For stays of 5 nights or longer, we offer one complimentary visit from our spa company to test, clean, and treat the water upon request. If you ever feel the hot tub isn't up to your expectations, just give us a call, and we'll have it serviced promptly.
SERVICE AND SUPPORT We take pride in providing exceptional service. Should anything not meet your standards, we have several service contracts and area companies on retainer ready to assist you. We also provide videos and instruction guides for all house amenities to ensure a hassle-free stay.

The cabin was even more beautiful than the pictures portray. Everything we needed for the perfect stay was there. The snowfall and seeing lots of deer were an added plus. We enjoyed the Skyline Drive and an afternoon at Luray Caverns. Our host was also very helpful! I definitely recommend this cabin.

A beautiful location and a very comfortable house, great for our family with two little kids. Just a couple hours from the DMV, but a world away for beauty and relaxation in Virginia. We discovered the terrific Shenandoah River State Park just 15 minutes away. Host is great communicator, everything went smoothly.

The house beautiful and exactly as it was listed. We loved the space, it was very nicely decorated - not over the top, just right. The amenities were great for our stay - dishwasher, washer, & dryer. Beds were comfortable. It was very clean and well taken care of. The hot tub was a wonderful plus and one of the reason we booked this place. It is a large hot tub which was very nice. The view is stunning!! We would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at Lone Bear Cabin. Mark could not have been a more attentive, kind, or diligent host. He reached out before we arrived with everything we needed to know and was extremely responsive to any questions we had. We enjoyed an incredible Thanksgiving break and would definitely book again in the future.

Nicely updated interior. Beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed the hot tub and the pool table. We had fun making s’mores at the primitive fire pit area. A huge plus is that that our host, Mark Talbot, was terrific! He was a great communicator and went the extra mile to make sure that our stay was pleasant and fun! During our stay we were lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis!! Super cool!!On the negative side, the fireplace metal insert became dangerously hot! Even though they had a sign stating this—it was not a good thing. The deck and table / chairs off of the kitchen and living room were filthy and covered with bugs. We swept and wiped things down so we could sit there and enjoy the great view. Also, the umbrella on the deck was broken, which blocked some our view. A minor suggestion would be for them to have additional towels, especially for the hot tub area. Overall it was a very nice stay!! We’d recommend it to others.

Perfect vacation
This is the first mountain vacation I’ve been on since my mother passed away last year. She loved Virginia and this place was absolutely perfect. Beautiful scenery, nice accommodations, great response times from host. If anyone is looking for a place to rest, reset, and enjoy… I highly recommend Lone Bear Cabin.

Relaxing family time
The property is in excellent condition, and as described. The host is extremely responsive and provides fantastic detail about the property. Very quiet rural neighborhood down a gravel road. Fantastic views from the cabin. Only complaint is the king bed was overly firm and the frame was noisy. The comfort of the bed just didn't match the excellent quality of everything else in the property. We enjoyed the selection of DVDs, games, and jigsaw puzzles.
