Comfort Inn Rhinelander2.5 out of 5.0

Overall, the stay was quite pleasant. We got a suite for slightly over $100, and it had a small refrigerator (not very cold), flat-panel TV, a comfortable bed, and good temp control. They had a small pool and a decent-sized if only tepid jacuzzi. They also had a pleasant if basic breakfast; make your own waffles, etc. My only real beef was with the shower head - a plastic adjustable one that either sprayed water everywhere (including in my eyes) or it came out in a solid column. Otherwise, I got what I was hoping for.
The Comfort Inn Rhinelander is a clean, well-maintained property that provides good value for its reasonable rates. The pool and hot tub are kept at comfortable temperatures and convenient. Guest rooms are nicely done and housekeeping seemed very good. The breakfast is standard fare for this type of property. The immediate neighborhood is not all that walkable, since this area of Lincoln Street is a relatively wide commercial corridor with fairly steady traffic and a lot of surface parking immediately adjacent to the street -- not a lot of charm, but fairly typical of street that host things like Home Depot and Wal-Mart. That said, we would put the Comfort Inn on our short list for this market.
My husband and I stopped here for one night on our way to Minneapolis. Prompt , friendly greeting at front desk. Beautiful clean, comfortable room and bath. Would highly recommend.. Good location and fun downtown area.
We stayed in a junior suite for two nights. While it was clean and spacious, our particular room (225) wasn’t well ventilated and had a lot of moisture from the pool and hot tub below. The AC unit only cooled the bedroom, not the long hallway or large sitting area of the suite, so it was very hot and muggy in our room. The exhaust fan in the bathroom wasn’t working, either. When we came home, we noticed *all* of our clothing and luggage smelled like mold and mildew. Additionally, the sofa bed in the room only had a bare mattress. No sheets. We did find a set of sheets in the drawer, but it was frustrating that the bed wasn’t made up. Breakfast is only served until 9 a.m. (even on weekends). When we went down to the lobby at 8:50 a.m., an employee slammed the door to the breakfast room, trying to keep us out. We actually wanted to speak to the front desk, but nobody was there (it was rarely staffed during our stay). A few minutes later, after waiting at the front desk, we noticed the employee was in the back room, frantically eating a huge breakfast for herself.
We spent a couple of days at this motel in the middle of the week, and had a good night's sleep - clean room and comfortable bed. The room size was good, furnished with easy chair, desk & chair, refrigerator & microwave, folding luggage stand, iron, etc. The bathroom was spacious with nice large sink counter, and plenty of nice plush towels. The shower head needed to be cleaned out of calcium, since it tended to spray all over and could not be adjusted. All the staff were helpful, but not overly friendly, and at times were not available due to taking their smoke breaks outside. It's nice that management allows them to bring their children to work. Breakfast was the common Choice Hotel variety, tasty and well stocked. The hot portion, scrambled eggs and sausage links were very good, but the same both days. A nice variety of yogurt and both skim and 2% milk, fresh fruit, waffle maker, cereal and sweets. Get there early, though - during the summer months the families with children tended to diminish things rapidly. There is a nice pool area and spa, but no exercise room. They will provide a voucher for a local fitness center, but that's pretty inconvenient if you just want to do a little exercising a the end of your travels or first thing in the morning before breakfast. They have a computer in the lobby for use, but the internet is slow and it kept timing out. The location is convenient to downtown, shopping and restaurants. Overall I would rate them an B+ and would probably stay again.
The hotel was clean and very well kept up. The complimentary breakfast was really good (the waffles and pancakes were to die for!). Our only complaint was that it took us over 20 minutes to check in due to the front desk not being staffed. We stood there and rang the bell while the phone rang over and over going unanswered. After about 15 minutes, a voice called that he would be there momentarily, but it was at least another 5 minutes before anyone arrived. During our stay, we never did see anyone at the front desk and just left our room keys upon exit rather than wait again.
Pros: fair price, nice decor, friendly staff, clean, large room, excellent lighting in room, desk, mini frig, easy chair. Cons: sink did not drain, very slow. There was an ugly bucket and mop sitting near the front desk the whole time we were there. No mop closet? We would stay here again.
We stayed on night in June while traveling through northeast Wisconsin. We particularly enjoyed the microwave and fridge in our room as well as the cleanliness of entire room. My husband LOVED their pillows so much that we are planning to order some online. We highly recommend staying here.
Not as nice as the Comfort Inn I stayed at the night before. Price was decent. This particular Comfort Inn needs to be updated a little bit. Wear and tear was evident. Not sure of other hotels in Rhinelander so I can't compare rooms. Would be nice if it was little closer to downtown but it is still within walking distance.
I spent one night at the Comfort Inn for a business trip. My room was like new - very updated and clean! The bed was comfortable and it was quiet. I was happy to have a microwave and refrigerator, too. I will definitely stay here again when I am in Rhinelander!
