Hotel Reykjavik Centrum

The hotel was located in the perfect location to walk to all sites in Reykjavik. It was close to restaurants, stores and a 2-3 minute walk to bus stop where not only city buses stopped, but also the tour companies. Breakfast buffet though not included was very good and for Iceland, reasonably priced.

Great hotel in an ideal location in the old part of town.

We had a corner room with three different window views of the streets of Reykjavik. Instead of sheets and blankets, they provide individual comforters which were very comfortable. The floor tiles in the small bathroom were heated. Reykjavik television leaves much to be desired so bring a tablet with downloaded shows/movies to watch for when you finally crawl into bed. The wifi was included and was speedy. You get a 20 percent discount for the hotel restaurant and the food was VERY good. Sea trout, lamb, pureed parsnips, salmon and beetroot salad with licorice mousse to finish. The carpet on the stairs is getting rather worn, but otherwise everything was excellent

Extremely convenient location, very helpful and accommodating staff.

Location is perfect. It is better to stay at the hotel than the apartments.

Lovely hotel. Tastefully decorated lobby and rooms. Standard room plenty big enough for my husband and me. Lots of creative storage. Small but nice bathroom. We upgraded to a deluxe room for a night and it was lovely, about 25% bigger with a corner alcove with 2 chairs. Delicious breakfasts. Nice bar with fun cocktails. Perfect location on the historic Main Street. 3 blocks from shopping district and museums and opera house.

Tastefully decorated. Rooms very comfortable with creative storage. Comfy beds. Very nice breakfast - lots of variety. The location is ideal.

This was the perfect hotel for our short, but eventful trip. It is within walking distance to all the major attractions and eateries in Reykyvik and I don't think we would have been able to see as much of the city as we did if we stayed elsewhere. There are a few grocery stores and popular restaurants within a stone's throw of the building, but if you are in a rush or the stores are closed, the hotel has a mini-mart that sells fruits, sandwiches, juices and chocolates. The rooms are simply decorated, but clean, comfortable and quiet. The temperature was always right, despite not having a controller in the room. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend Hotel Centrum to my friends and family.

Very nice hotel, centrally located. Very nice and professional staff. Good bar, but restaurant somewhat lacking for breakfast. Continental and insubstantial. Like all Reykjavic hotels, no parking.

This is a tourist hotel in central Reykjavik. Location and generally well maintained are pluses. There are constantly large tour groups checking in and out, which tend to swamp the small lobby and overwhelm the staff.

Great location! Comfortable and clean. Would stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and overall were pleased. The location is fantastic. It is not on the main shopping/dining street, so you are able to get a good night's rest -- but it is only a 5-10 min walk to anything downtown. The breakfast at the hotel is delicious, and the staff was really pleasant. They helped us out tremendously even when we missed a bus reservation to the airport. The only negatives were that the rooms are quite small, and the carpeted hallways where the rooms are could use a good cleaning.

Friendly, accommodating front desk staff! Set the tone to make the entire stay most enjoyable. Manager could have come and helped out (did not appear busy) when people stacked up at the desk (clerk was trying her best), which gave them a 4 instead of 5 grade. Central location.

I felt like a Sardine. The only plus of this place is that it's in a super convenient location. It's clean and fine. But, doesn't deserve a four star rating.

The Hotel Reykjavik Centrum is very well located in the center of downtown Reykjavik. My single room was nicely appointed and cozy - small but perfectly suited for a single business traveler like myself - with a usable desk area, adequate room to unpack, and a reasonably sized, clean, modern bathroom. The word "cozy" is a word other reviewers have used for this property and it applies. It is a relatively new property, but instead of taking a "modern" route in decor (which can be a little cold and spartan for my taste) this hotel retains the warmer architectural and decor elements I usually associate with desirable European hotels. The staff was also friendly and helpful. I have also stayed at the Hotel Odinsve in Reykjavik, and of the two I prefer the Hotel Reykjavik Centrum. On the negative side, the Centrum is a little noisier...You sometimes hear more sound from people in the adjacent rooms and there is more street noise audible in the room than in the Odinsve.

The Centrum is well located in Reykjavik, close to the main art museum, the Harpa, and some good restaurants. It was a very pleasant, if windy, walk to the top of the hill and the church. It was not near any of the wonderful bars (or maybe we just didn't find them). We did not eat at the restaurant but the reviews were good. The staff was very helpful in setting up tours. One caveat - there is not a lot of seating in the lobby or in the room. We reserved a deluxe double and there was a desk chair and one club chair, despite an entire entryway to the room being empty.

Anyone who rates this a 4 star hotel has never stayed in a 4 star hotel. This would be a 2 star hotel at best in any major city in the United States or Europe for that matter. The room is very basic, almost like an efficiency room. There are no amenities. It has a dorm room feel to it and is very small. The television set is the size of a computer monitor and gets about 10 channels. No power adapters (they tell you to go buy one). Weird bed with two twin size blankets covering the queen size bed. It's just a sad and depressing room. There is just no chance that this is a 4 star hotel and I question the rating system that gives it 4 stars. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world. I'm not even sure a 3 star would be justified relative to 3 stars in the US. Maybe Iceland hotels have a different rating system. The location is good, but that's it.

The hotel is in the best possible location. It is quiet and you can walk everywhere. the three best restaurants are within four blocks and to reach the shopping area and sights (Parliament, churches, waterfront) is a five minute walk in any direction. The rooms are functional but Iceland is about activity so by the end of the day all that you want is a comfortable bed and a great, hot bath-both completely available at this hotel.

The hotel is modern, clean and cozy. The rooms are comfortable with a nice modern bathroom and plenty of space for us two. The breakfast is not included in the price, but is a large buffet and the best deal we found in the city. Reykjavik doesn't get going til about 10 or 11am so if an early breakfast is a big deal, here it is good and for guests only. The hotel is right downtown and central to everything. We were walking and relying on excursions and public transportation so this was important to be accessible to everything.

Great location in center of town. Walking distance to everything. Far enough from the bars that it is quiet. Staff very nice, rooms not huge but clean and very comfortable.

View from room. Parliament building is the brown one on the right. Parliament building. Half a block from the hotel View of the 'anonymous bureaucrat' at the pond.
