Good size room. Friendly receptionist. Shocking breakfast buffet. Hotel is getting refurbished but it was way overpriced for what they offer when we stayed. Breakfast cook used profanities when speaking with my husband in breakfast room.
The View !! (see photo) Is just the start of a great experience! From the lobby, the bar/restaurant, or from your room you will revel in the stunning beauty of the lake and the mountains. Up to date beautiful room tastefully furnished with nice linens and toiletries, tea/coffee etc. Beds with wonderful mattresses. Don't miss the restaurant with elegant yet reasonably priced dinner and tasty breakfast. For dinner the Chef excelled with beautifully prepared rack of venison for me and seared South Pacific Tuna for my spouse both cooked exactly how we asked and beautifully presented with roast root vegetables. The helpful and genuine hotel and restaurant staff impressed us offering to carry our bags. allowing late checkout and knowledgeable about the area. We will return.
This hotel is vastly over priced. I would recommend staying in an Airbnb instead. Our room was nice but unfortunately did not have a view of the lake which was a great shame. Some of the rooms do have a view of the lake so make sure you ask for one of those. There is no information book in the room telling you about the hotel, it’s restaurant and Queenstown. I would advise looking for other options before booking a night/s here.
We stayed in the Aspen Hotel Lodge for 2 nights. It was comfortable- the room we were in was comparable to any hotel room in a mid-level hotel. However, we chose a room with a balcony and were rewarded with an unparalleled view of the Remarkables. When in our room, we spent most of our time on the balcony enjoying the view. The room service was pretty nice- the menu has any thing from Pizza to a Charcuterie board. It was all pretty tasty. The only thing that was slightly lacking was the breakfast buffet- it was underwhelming. It is a bit out of town and up a huge hill, so it would be a challenge to walk to downtown if you wanted to.
Luckily found this hotel in busy Queenstown, it was a bit in the outskirts up a bit of a hill. But close enough to the city center to walk, and a bus stop just outside the hotel if the hill seems to step. Nice hotel with good rooms, had a nice view of the lake and mountains. The wifi is very limited which the booking site forgot to mention. Breakfast was very basic but sufficient for our stay there.
Nice hotel on the slopes near Queenstown with a great view of the lake from the restaurant. It's a bit of a walk on a steep hill to town (30 minutes) but there is public transport or taxis. The rooms are quite nice and big, good shower, fridge and big TV. My bed was a bit strange, one side was quite hard but I could feel the springs, the other side was very soft. There's was a single bed also but I did not try that one. WiFi works great here. Also the breakfast was very well stocked for a continental (full is extra). Al in Al quite good.
The Aspen must have one of the best views in Queenstown and the food is pretty special too. Although the hotel is being renovated the restauarant is still good, with friendly staff and food which is good for both gourmets and for families. Children eat free with their parents and the fish and chips provided for them was great, as was the pizza. The ice cream, I am told, was absolutley delicious. My husband said his eye fillet was superb and the venison rack can be recommended with its very interesting herby crust. It is certainly worth going up Fernhill to eat here.
Great views from the second floor balconies and dining area. There are chairs and table to sit and enjoy the sunset over the lake. Good breakfast. Reception was helpful. Overall stay was pleasant. We parked our car at hotel's parking spot and used the bus to go to town. Easy and convenient.
There is no doubting the location offers great views of Remarkables and Queenstown especially from the restaurant but it is quite a walk into town and uphill all the way back. Check in staff are excellent at their job and very welcoming and helpful. I have stayed here on business a couple of times this year and have noted that some rooms are acceptable for the money charged and some are not. If you can request to stay in the main building where the restaurant and bar are the rooms have been refurbished and are great, clean modern and acceptable for the money they charge. However if you stay in any other room across the carpark away from the main building be aware these rooms are dated to say the least. I recently stayed in 548 and found unclean surfaces, lifting carpet, major cracks in walls, bed coverings so old it was falling apart. Kettle had disappeared but most concerning was seeing power sockets loose from the wall and exposing wires. I am ashamed that this is the level of accommodation that tourists have to endure and this Hotel should be ashamed of itself. For the amounts charged they need a refurbishment plan for this block and fast.(NZ$190) On a positive the restaurant offers main stream fare - burgers etc that are generous and worth the money. - I did not try breakfast. On this experience I have cancelled my future bookings
This hotel sits a little outside of town and has beautiful views of the mountains. The rooms were recently renovated and very well done. In hindsight I wish I would’ve stayed closer to the city center. A taxi from this hotel to the city cost $20 NZD each way. The parking around the hotel is extremely limited and we almost never found a spot unless we went out to the street. WiFi was free and worked well and there were also computers in the lobby which you can use without a time limit.
