It is a fairly old hotel but well taken care of. Pool is ok, beach is ugly, food is acceptable. Staff is well trained and respectful. PROS: close to Santo Domingo. CONS: a bit old. Not bad for a getaway weekend.

Overall pleasant experience. The preferred club is overrated and not worth the extra money, since everyone gets the same food and the same excellent beach (the only difference is the sunbeds and maybe robes and slippers in the room). Daily barbeque at the beach with rotation of grilled fish, meat and burgers saves you the trouble of packing up and schlepping back to the buffet or a restaurant. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

I had great experience on my vacations, service is very good, and also they have activities going on all day and night. I highly recommend the Italian Restaurant. For breakfast I think I could be improved

The food was horrible. The beach and sun were good, but don't expect good food. Major disappointment.

Excellent! Great beach, calm ocean, nice accommodation.

Staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. There were many clean pools to swim in and it was a close walk to the beach. I'd go back again!

My husband and I went for the week. We absolutely loved the surrounding beach and all amenities available in the hotel.

Excelente acomodación es y lugar las piscinas y la playa todo muy bueno

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. Staff was very friendly, hotel was clean, beach was excellent. No, not all of the staff understand English that well. You are in another country, after all. If you complain about lack of English, get over yourself. You are the foreigner there. Stop complaining. With that said, they were very easy to try to talk to, even when we didn't understand one another. I always got what I needed, just took a different approach at times. The beach was nice. There is a spot where its small and has large rocks, as one review pointed out. Its a very small section of the beach and is not a representation of the beach itself. The sand was nice, water was extremely clear. Reefs are right off the shore and made for some really nice snorkeling. Food was ok. Nothing spectacular, so don't get your hopes up. It wasn't bad, but not great. Being all you can eat, though, I had zero complaints with it (minus the weird deep fried fish that was served to us by accident, that thing was interesting...). There was only one person who really tried to sell us on anything, but I let him know right off the bat that I wasn't about to spend anymore money and he backed off. The pool hours were not good. Everything closed at 6, which did not match the times listed around the hotel. That's too early to close, in my opinion. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I would return in a moment if I could!!

There was nothing great about the rooms which were outdated. The service was more not so great than great. Anytime i walked by the lobby i felt like someone was trying to talk me into something, especially our first day there. One day they had vendors set up by the pool area and they kept trying to sell us things. I am on vacation and not there to be haggled. I Seems like everyone is looking for a tip. It would be nice if more people smiled there. Also we had to call concierge about 6 times to get our wifi fixed after we were told that the issue was addressed. One night in particular we were told someone would be there within a few minutes. Hours later no one ever came. It eventually got fixed when we walked down to the concierge's desk. We mentioned that no one had showed and all they said was sorry. If someone was able to pick up the phone and tell us someone would be there shortly, why couldn't someone let us know offices are closed or inform us that someone would come the following morning.

What experience? It was unsatisfactory. We were truly disappointed with our stay there. This was the first time we went to La Romana. We had been to multiple resorts in Punta Cana before including Dreams Punta Cana. Compared to resorts in Punta Cana this resort lacked a certain ambiance. I traveled with my husband and two kids (20 years old & 15 years old). We were all very bored with the hotel. The nightlife was horrible. There was nothing to do. At 9:30pm there was a show however the theater was small and one could barely see. The shows were predictable and my kids would end up wanting to leave before it was even over. The night club played "American" music and consisted of teenagers and adults trying to relive their teenage years. Every night in the lobby they would have "live music" which was just a pianist playing soft music that would put you to sleep. The beach was rocky and often overcrowded. The food was only okay. The best restaurants were the Italian and French restaurant. The buffet had the same food every day and had no variety whatsoever. The Spa service was very unorganized. The rooms were adequate. Overall, our experience was just okay. We would not return to this resort and recommend it to anybody.

Great beach. Have to do catamaran island tour. It's great. But buy it there. Only $65 vs $120 if you buy it online here. Only complaint - cold bottled water was rare and ice makers Nasty so don't drink the ice

Hotel 5 Start...Excellent Staff. This trip was a nice experience in Dreams La Romana...I Love It!

I attended a wedding in mid April. The hotel and staff did a great job with the event. This is my second time staying here and there were many improvements since my last stay. The staff is top notch everything was "un plasir" or "excellente" . The grounds were kept immaculate as was my room. I did stay at the adult only preferred club and I highly recommend that area. The restaurants and cuisine in general was good to excellent. The beach is nice but not like bavaro or the beaches of riviera maya. But still beautiful. One thing I must add and not just for this property is if you have a basic knowledge of Spanish you will have a better experience. I give it 4 out of five stars.

The hotel is excellent, the beach is amazing and the services.

It was a great experience beyond my expectations. The staff was wonderful and caring. They loved to please you in every way.

This hotel exceeded all our expectations during our 7 night stay. The staff was very courteous and accommodating. The food was delicious. We will definitely be returning for our anniversary.

My family and I had a wonderful time .. cant wait to go back someday
