We loved our stay at this hotel its basically a 3.5 but close to 4 star hotel, its older but well kept and cleaned, great hotel staff friendly and helpful. Check in was quick and they allowed us to check in 4 hrs early, check out was easy and quick. Hotel is right on the beach small but clean, lots of chairs, Two pools never busy, showers outside and a hot tube. The hotel is a 10 minute bus ride to downtown and the Marina, lots of restaurants nearby and across the street is a large shopping centre and 9 food trucks with a nice shaded sit down area. Wifi is $10 a day and a little slow, lots of day time and evening shows and dinners. We would most certainly return
I stayed in the Hotel Villa Del Mar twenty years ago as a student in the New World Teachers Program at the University of Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta and resided there for a month (18 October - 17 November 1997). It was a great stay! Everyone on-staff were hard-working and kind: the front desk ladies were knowledgeable of the local area and the city at large and the cleaning ladies were always very hard-working, diligent, and accommodating. There are several restaurants, tortiilerias, cafes, and shops nearby, and the beach is only aobut six or seven blocks away, and the Municipal Market Rio Cuale is very near, as well. It was a JOY to stay here! If I ever travel to Puerto Vallarta again, I know whwre my wife and I will stay: Hotel Villa Del Mar!
Hey... it is what it is. It's certainly not a luxury resort, but they're not charging luxury prieces. It's an older traditional Mexican hotel in a charming neighbourhood a few blocks from the beach. The rooms are small by US standards, and there are few amenities. But it's clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There can be an issue with noise, and the internet in the room was spotty at best. And there's no elevator. Overall, we'd be happy to stay there again.
Hotel is comfortable and clean. Maid service daily, but our room didn't get cleaned until late afternoon, making afternoon siesta bothersome. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. WiFi is good if you are near the router (we weren't). Our room was located overlooking the road and got quite noisy. Closing the window helped some.
I have stayed here in 2015, 2016, and will be staying again this year in February. This is a great little hotel for a low-key, low-maintenance traveler. The staff is very friendly and the housekeepers do a fantastic job on making sure your room is cleaned daily. I've never had any issues staying here, would recommend for solo travelers like myself.
This hotel is exactly as advertised. The rooms are basic, clean, and affordable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, within walking distance to pretty much everything. The only issue is traffic noise. I will stay here again.
Hotel was fine older yet clean bed comfortable a lot of stairs and was just about as far as you want to walk to the beach. Over all it was the right place for me I spend a lot of my time out and it was quiet clean and cofortable.
Staff and check in were efficient. Room was dated was not able to get hot water for the shower, it had large fridge, and cook top and Microwave as well as stuff to make coffee or tea. The patio area was nice, as was the pool area. There was a nice sports bar up front. One is able to use the facilities and pool at the slightly up market sister hotel situated on the same property.
The hotel was clean and fairly well maintained--but it was older and had a unique style in which the room's windows faced inward to the central open landings on each floor (see photo). A nice roof-top lounge area sits at the top of the stairs, and I found it a quiet place to read. The area is safe and the surrounding streets have a variety of restaurants - from upscale to street vendors selling some pretty outstanding tacos. Escondida Sports Bar is right next door, and is a great place to hang out, watch a game and meet local folks. My room had A/C and a TV, but no remote. Wi-Fi was available in the lobby, but did not work in the room. There is no designated parking per se, but I found street parking directly outside. Lastly, the hotel is within walking distance to all of the beach activities, stores, bars and shops. This place will be a quieter and more affordable option than places closer to the beach.
Our assigned room was on the second floor (no elevator) but was furnished with two matrimonial beds (doubles). The mattresses were firm but comfortable (we've stayed in Mexican hotels where the mattresses were firm and uncomfortable). Although there were a few idiosyncrasies (no hot water faucet in the basin; the hot water was in the shower, but required many turns of the faucet to access it), the beds were comfortable, the rooms had individually controlled A/C and ceiling fans, and the two closets had a shelf unit in addition to the hanging space. Not far from the beach, lots of restaurants nearby, and transportation handy. Free wifi in the hotel lobby with plenty of seating. The local reputation is many visitors who are on longer vacations stay there. Altogether a pleasant experience!
