When you get a 5 star hotel for such a cheap price, you can't expect it to be good. First of all, the reception responded extremely arrogant when we arrived early in the morning and asked if it was possible for an early check in. Then they recommend you the worst hop on hop off bus tour (they claim wrong discounts on other tourist attraction and let you wait on every stop for 1 hour) just because it's cheaper than the others but they don't actually know anything about it. The buffet for lunch and dinner is way to expensive for how small and poor it is. The food from the menu is just as pathetic and tastes like warmed up in the microwave and you have to wait 40 minutes until you get your food. And the worst thing is, when we put our "Do not disturb" sign outside when we went to breakfast, the cleaning lady was inside our room when we came back. Neither reception nor cleaning lady was capable of apologizing. Last of all their rooftop swimming pool and bar seems extremely fancy, but is so windy that nobody spends their time there. Absolutely unprofessional and not worth a 5 star hotel.
So very disappointed in this hotel. Having just come from a 5 star in Lisbon. This is a joke for a five star. Dark and dull. Terrible top pool. Wait in line to have breakfast. Broken gym...gosh something is seriously not right. How they are called a 5 star I can not understand.
Lovely Hotel, situated in between the beach and the ribeira, which is a good hours walk to the beach. Taxis are very cheap. €6 to the ribeira or beach. Hotel staff friendly. Excellent breakfast, busy period around 10am and does have a queue but soon goes down with no problems of waiting. Roof top pool is great, music playing and all very relaxed. Great views of the river and sea. Room maid was excellent and was in every day cleaning. Would definitely return. Excellent value for money in our executive suite. Thank you.
It took me a long time to choose a hotel for our recent visit to Porto, but I am so glad that I picked the Ipanema Park. I was a little hesitant due to the location being quite far from the centre, but when it came to it, it was only 10 minutes walk from the river and from there, another 45 minutes stroll along the riverside and you are in the centre. It was a nice walk and very relaxing, taking in lots of sights along the way, so please don't let the location put you off! If you don't want to walk, taxis are very cheap and easily accessible. We had an executive room which was large and very comfortable with all the facilities we needed. The bed was a little soft but other than that, it was great. The restaurant for breakfast was a large open space with a vast choice, including gluten and dairy free options which was perfect for me. The gluten free bread had run out on the first day but the staff soon got some more and the next day they recognised me and went straight to get me some fresh bread which was a lovely touch. The only comment I would make is that whilst I was very impressed to see lactose free milk being offered, as well as Soya, the milks are all kept together and have a label next to them. However there is nothing to say that the bottles may have been accidentally swapped so for me, I did not dare risk the lacto free milk just in case. Soya milk is easy to spot as it is a different colour, but for the lacto free milk, I would be much more confident if the actual bottle was labelled so I knew it could not have been mixed up with normal milk. That really is the only thing I could comment on! Everything else was great! The roof top pool was lovely, not huge but still a pool with plenty of seating and fabulous far reaching views of the area. There is also a small bar in the corner which was not expensive. We loved our first visit to Porto and really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. We would definitely recommend it and we would certainly choose it again for our next visit.
good hotel, clean rooms, fully equiped bathroom, friendly and helpfull staff, breakfast okay (although the choise of eggs is limited to crambled - no boiled or sunny side up). city center within reach with nearby public busses or (cheap) taxi.
The hotel is inbetween the beaches &Porto city. Very convenient.Buses a short walk away to all areas. The rooftop pool was just fabulous. Would definitely recommend this hotel & can t wait to go again
Stayed here for a 3 night break. The hotel is 4* and is an ideal hotel covering all bases at a high standard, although not quite luxurious. It's a little out of the centre, 45 min walk or 10 min taxi (approx 8 euros). Breakfast had a good selection and bed was huge and comfortable.
The hotel was clean, rooms well sized, very comfy bed. Two pretty but uncomfortable armchairs and a small desk under the tv. The bathroom was clean, with all the regular little bottle, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. A big bottle of Lux body wash attached to the wall in the shower/bath and Dove hand wash by the sink. Perfectly fine, but I'd expect better quality, something more luxurious for a five-star hotel. Both the phone and the a/c in the room didn't work. The preset numbers assigned to reception and room service didn't work. I wanted to order something to eat on Sunday afternoon so went down to reception. They told me room service would call me and then dismissed me before I could further explain the problem with the phone. Room service never called. The a/c stopped working after we opened the window. We closed the window but the a/c never worked after. We alerted reception in the evening and they said there was nothing they could do about it. I understand there was no one available to fix it at that time, but at minimum we should've received an apology and offered another room. But we got nothing. I understand that things go wrong sometimes, but to call yourself a 5-star, a hotel really should have better service recovery in place. To do nothing when there is an issue is unacceptable. The reception staff were quite cold, barely cracking a smile to greet you. Breakfast was busy making the room a little stuffy, but it was easy enough to get a table, even during the busiest time. However the breakfast was disappointing. Yes, there was a huge variety, and yes, they kept it coming, but the quality of the ingredients was poor. The sausages and bacon were of really poor, cheap quality. Perhaps acceptable for a 4star hotel, considering the variety. Definitely fine for a 3-star, but not good enough for a 5-star hotel. So, mostly our issue was that nothing quite seemed up for scratch for it's 5-star rating.
We had a great stay at this hotel. The staff were so welcoming and helpful and have our one year old some crayons and paper to play with as we checked in. This was a theme throughout our stay, all of the staff were great and recommended places to eat and the best ways to get around. The hotel is slightly out of the centre but easily accessible via the tram or local buses. Would recommend and will stay again if we return to Porto
The hotel is quite nice, and the Staff is friendly. Breakfast is TOP. The room is clean, but few parts were not so good, like the noise from nearby rooms (you felt like if there is no wall between both rooms... a bit annoying listening other room mobile calls, TV, shower, and door closing), the lack of a light in the closet (or nearby) and the old bath room (yet pretty clean). The bar prices were a bit high for the quality offered.
