Sheraton Porto Alegre Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

Twice in a year and same comfortable and high standard experience. It’s not a luxury hotel but they deliver high standard services. Rooms have large square feet although they lack of class details. Staff is well prepared, always helpful and discrete. Gym is located in the upper floor. Definitely not at the same standard than the other facilities. It’s small and not very equipped. It needs urgent improvements for a hotel of this range. This time I used the room service from the restaurant. In fact they don’t offer any different option as the cafeteria and the restaurant close after 3pm. Service was fast and well presented as dishes arrived on a trolley, well dressed and presented. I think food was too elaborated for no reasons but definitely eatable. For example, what is the point of filling a beef fillet with mozzarella and Parma ham? Sometimes less is better. The hotel lobby is also connected to the shopping mall by indoor access. This mall can be a good option for eating and shopping.
It's a very good hotel but overpriced. I can't believe this the best hotel in Porto Alegre, my hometown. Location is excellent, but the facilities and services are not 5-stars. Just a few towels and worn off. The swimming pool is too small. The sauna was not working. I asked them to switch on, waited for half an hour, but they couldn't do it. Overall, disapointing. This is not a 5-star hotel.
Excellent location! Sheraton is located in the heart of Moinhos neighborhood, a very fancy place! Great service! Rooms are very cozy, spacious and clean! Beds are comfortable! Breakfast is delicious! I do recommend it!
I stayed many times at Sheraton Porto Alegre and it's my first option in Porto Alegre due to amenities and location, near good restaurants. Unfortunately during the last year the prices are higher than Sheraton in Sao Paulo and almost the double of other good hotels in the city and it's not a good deal anymore.
This well located hotel makes you feel shafted upon check in. The (polite) front desk clerk is trained to offer you a “package” containing breakfast and INTERNET CONNECTION (yes, this hotel is still operating like back in 2,003 when you had to pay for internet). Watch as that package makes no sense and it is ridiculously expensive. Actually, if you try to have breakfast paying separately, watch out as the service is really bad, there is little food and the price is also ridiculously high. You are better off walking down half a block to a Mc D and paying close to nothing for a basic breakfast (but at least you don’t feel you are being exploited). The room is comfortable and clean. AC will only work once you place the key in the slot, so you need to be patient when you come back to the room at the end of the day as it will take some time to cool it off. The hotel is located right beside a mall (Shopping Moinhos) and that is very convenient. Unfortunately, this hotel suffers from “lack of competition” in the same class in the same city. Should they have another similar competitor, trust me, they would not treat the guests as if they are doing you a favor.
This Sheraton hotel looks elegant straight from the time you arrive and walk into the lobby. Staff is very nice and welcoming. Good first sight impact. They have selected floors dedicated to SPG guests. Once you get in your room, some of the magic gets lost as these large rooms appear to be poorly dressed to the point they almost look empty. Don't get me wrong, rooms are fully functional and furniture are well kept but you feel that is a hotel room, not exactly "home". The breakfast area on the 5th floor offers a dedicated room for kids, with small tables and chairs so that the little guests can have breakfast to their wishes. Buffet is rich in quantities and selection. Gym facilities are definitely poor. Area is small and gets unusable with just 10 people.
I simply hate it when hotels nickel and dime you. What hotel make you pay for the Internet these days. The room was big but very dark. Poor lighting. I asked for a room with a sofa it. It had a chair no sofa. It is in a nice location but next time I will look for something that's more boutique. This hotel had boutique pricing. Pretty expensive for the region and I was staying on a weekend night. I would not recommend it. I've traveled to the city in the past and gotten much better hotels with lower rates. Someone else booked this hotel for me for a room
I am platinum with Starwood, so I used points for a 3 night stay at the Sheraton Porto Alegre hotel. The first thing you notice is that the hotel abuts the upscale Moinhos Shopping Mall and has a number of good restaurants and bars within walking distance. That alone sells the hotel. When you walk in the lobby of the Sheraton Porto Alegre hotel, you know it's a standard international Sheraton (a notch above their American and Canadian counterparts). The lobby was immaculate with a modern decor, the front desk staff courteous, and a trendy bar to the side. I was upgraded to a junior suite and the room was quite comfortable. It was large sized with standard Sheraton furniture such as the typical office desk and accent chairs. The bed was soft and comfortable, a rarity for Latin America. As for the bathroom, it was functional and modern, although you really had to take a big step up to get in the shower tub. The views from all sides, however, are nothing special. And housekeeping did a very good job of servicing the room every day. Make sure to tip them! If you are elite with SPG, breakfast during the week is served in the executive lounge. The lounge is nice, but small with only dining tables. It is not the most welcoming place to hang out with a drink. The food there is good quality but doesn't have the most variety, especially for evening hors d'oeuvres. Service in the lounge is efficient and attentive. If you are there on the weekends (or don't have elite status), breakfast in the restaurant is much better. There is a huge array of food to choose from and all of it was good. The Sheraton location is great. It is in Moinhos which is one of the few chi-chi neighborhoods in downtown Porto Alegre. The fashionable clubs and restaurants are dotted all throughout the neighborhood. And as an added benefit, Moinhos de Ventas Park is only a couple blocks away - it's great for exercising and people watching. Overall, I give the Sheraton Porto a solid 4 stars. Service is excellent, the hotel is clean and comfortable, and the rooms are standard business class quality.
I was traveling thru several cities in Brazil and arrived to Porto Alegre late at night. I was delighted by the fast check in process and the courtesy of the guy the front desk. He saw me very tired and was very efficient in the process while helping me find my Sheraton rewards number and make the process fast. The room was big enough and very clean. The gym is enough for a business trip and i liked the pool. I think the hotel can leverage more the pool place. It is a very relaxing place. After using the gym i just sat down at the pool area and rest. Beautiful view from the pool area. A lot of tropical fruits at the breakfast. It was a very nice breakfast! Very good hotel. I will definitely use when come to Porto Alegre. Using the pool at nights i imagine is a great experience to relax.
A pretty good hotel in the center area of Porto Alegre city. Its clean, stylish and comfortable but the Staff was not able to help me with little issues with my room, things that everyone could make it great. Besides of that, my stay (about 2 nights) was pretty good.
