Stayed here several times now.it has recently been renovated. Beautiful position on the river friendly and clean .restaurant and bar are nice would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area.
It is a pleasant hotel with a very nice view and pool. The restaurant provides a standard breakfast but both lunch and dinner are not that good. Someone used hairspray setting off the fire alarm at that time.
An enjoyable stay only hampered by the ongoing renovation noise starting at 7.30 in the morning. Awakening to the sound of jackhammers and drills was not how we wanted to start the day. Staff are pleasant and the pool area is beautiful. Rooms are well planned and the location with proximity to many attractions is very good. We would stay here again, but we will wait until the renovations are finished.
Nice, spacious rooms. Currently being renovated so will be even nicer once that is completed. Has a pool and spa. Also has restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Try and get a room with a balcony overlooking the pool and lake. Rooms have Foxtel and usual things (minibar, kettle, iron) etc.
Very poor. We have stayed here a couple of times but this stay was extremely disappointing. Our room was clean & the bed comfortable but the generator noise for most of the night was terrible. But the worst part was the lack of amentity. The hotel web site says a new restaurant will open in December but it doesn't say that half the site is partially demolished, under construction or has shipping containers on it. The car park is chaotic with construction and shiping containers used for hotel linen storage. The reception area is temporary with access from the car park via steps and a narrow door - we found another access to reception around the corner not well signposted. Getting to your room is convoluted with temporary construction walls at every turn. The hotel web site also doesn't say that dinner is only available from the casual dinning & bar area which has a very limited menu - six main meal options - at full restaurant prices. Sirloin steak - cheap cut & tough - with token vegetables was $38. And the 'restaurant' kitchen is in yet another shipping container. I rang to check if there was a restaurant service and told yes so i made a booking. But it was only the caual dinning & bar - even the staff are confused. The breakfast menu is equally limited. You would think that some accommodation would be made for guests in such circumstances. Surely breakfast could be complementary or the menu prices would be reflective of the food....pub food prices - and this is suppose too go on for another 7 months!
Despite the renovations we have enjoyed our stay. The rooms are well design with enough space for the whole family. Room 124 is the pick as it opens to the spa and pool area. The staff are more then accommodating. Facilities are basic whilst they finish the resort but plenty of places close by for a drink or something to eat.
It's has been a long time since we went away with our children. We used to do it more so when they were young. Now days they're young adults & it's harder to find the time. Going to Port Macquarie has become a favoured place to visit. It's 3.5 hours from where we live but not too far to drive from Sydney. We chose Sails because it offered us exactly what we needed as a family. Even though they're going through a major renovation. But it was perfect for us. A couple of the rooms we booked had 3 beds in it. A king size plus two single. The room was big enough with a balcony on both. We also had partial view of the lake. But it didn't matter. It was a short walk out to the breakfast area. Also to the pool and the view was just beautiful. We booked in for two nights but ended up staying an extra night. From Friday night to Monday morning there was no noice at all. We only ate breakfast but didn't get a chance to try their dinner menu. This place is so suitable from a single person, family with young kids to grown up one. Not only you can enjoy the pool & the spa but you can do water activity, paddle board or canoe ride on the lake. Close to the heart of Port or across the road for a more relaxed shop. Plenty of parking & no lifts but easy excess to the first floor. Would had loved to stay longer. Next time.
Ordered my room service meal, just before it arrived the power went out and didn't come back on for two hours. Ate with door wedged open as the corridors had emergency lighting. Had to shower in the dark and couldn't get hair dry. Woken by evacuation alarm at about 0130, had to exit the building and wait for firemen. No sign of a fire. Woken again at about 0700 by another evacuation alarm, had to exit again. I decided to check out. Worst night ever. The room itself was clean and pleasant. None of the staff seemed to apologise for the awful night everybody had.
My partner and I stayed in a waterfront suite for two nights. The view was absolutely spectacular. The renovations are clearly on one side but they occur on the opposite side to the waterfront room and don't bother you in the slightest. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend. Staff were accommodating and we had our welcome drink in our room. Keen to return when the renovations are over!
We stayed here for just one night but I wanted to stay longer! Our room overlooked the river, and was so quiet. Our room was spacious and must have been recently refurbished, everything was brand new and clean. Beds very comfy, beautiful pool area, free wifi, we will definitely stay here again.
