The hotel was very clean and quiet. A really nice get-away. The bathroom was luxurious. The Little Rock Cafe is across the street and has the best homemade bread. The French Toast was perfect. There is also a little store right across the street. The hotel is very easy to find and everyone from the front desk of the hotel to the waitresses and store clerks were very nice and friendly. I stayed two nights and the 2nd day at the cafe my waitress saw me coming from across the street and already had my coffee ready for me.
We loved this hotel. Great location near lava hot springs. Quiet and very comfortable. We stayed in a suite with a kitchenette and it was perfect for us. Very clean modern simple decor. There is a quaint cafe across the street. We had breakfast and lunch there. Near Pocatello, which has a lovely farmers market and good restaurants (Indian, Great Harvest Bakery, Greek and Italian).
Did not expect this hotel to be this nice. Considering where it is (kinda middle of nowhere), the 1 night we stayed there was great! The people were nice, the hotel has a lot of history, a convenience store across the street and a restaurant within walking distance. The bath/shower redo was 1st class. We highly recommend this one-of-a-kind hotel.
Lovely surprise in a teeny town. So spacious and comfortable, with lots of amenities and interesting architectural and decorative details. We loved it, but had to leave too soon. Cool your heals and stay a couple of nights.
We were looking for an overnight stay to break the journey from Ketchum to Salt Lake City. Initially thought of Lava Hot Springs but then came across this hotel. The hotel is in a very tastefully and imaginatively renovated old building with lovely large rooms, high ceilings. Reception and rooms are uncluttered which adds to the sense of space. After hours guests have the hotel to themselves although the receptionist is only a phone call and minutes away. Very relaxing stay as the hotel and area is relatively quiet in terms of traffic, although trains do rumble by occasionally, which I liked. Ate dinner and breakfast at the cafe/restaurant over the road which was fine. It was nice to stay somewhere that was different and obviously renovated with much effort and attention to detail. Well worth a visit.
The hotel is beautiful and spotless. We were very happy with the room. The front desk people were efficient and polite. The only downfall is that there is nothing close in regards to dining. Unfortunately we showed up on a Sunday, so the only diner within 10 miles (unless you count the truck stop and subway) was closed after lunch. We did drive the 11 miles to Lava Springs but the options there left an awful lot to be desired. In the end we decided to drive 30 minutes to Pocatello. This hotel would be perfect if it had a dining option, but I'm guessing that it would be hard to sustain.
This hotel is amazing. We stayed only one night on our western vacation. It's in a rural area with such charm. Full kitchen, beautiful decor and close to lava springs. Words can't do it justice. My kids even said, "that is a lot to live up to" regarding how great our first hotel was.
In an area dotted by two-star lodgings, the Harkness Hotel offered a surprisingly sophisticated respite just off the highway in tiny McCammon Idaho. The renovation to this former hospital and teacher's lodging, was meticulous and upscale. The staff were friendly and efficient. Each room is distinctly lovely. We stayed in the Indigo. The bathroom was over-the-top and so were the products offered. We loved the Harkness and wish we had the time to stay more than one night. Wound up squeezing in a side trip to the Lava Hot Springs, which were also surprisingly great. Take the road less travelled to this oasis. You will be glad you did.
This is a great little hotel with great big extras. We stayed in The Silver Room which had a very comfortable, and remarkably large queen size bed, roomy shower and the soap and was so fabulous I had to order some when I got home. Front desk made our check in very simple and they were not pushy or intrusive. My husband and I are very private people and we felt very relaxed and comfortable staying in this hotel. It's small but doesn't "feel" small at all. They have a very nice Italian coffee machine in the downstairs lobby that, while being an obviously "higher end" machine, provided us with delicious tea and hot chocolate almost instantly; and a much needed morning cup right before our departure. Would we stay here again? Darn tootin'. Great hotel, charming little town, friendly townsfolk.
I just took a tour because I am already staying at a place in Lava Hot Springs. But wow, I am very impressed. I'd feel like a queen staying here. It's very elegant and classy. The interior design and style is breathtaking.
