This is a very quaint hotel. The rooms are nice and there is a nice patio that you can sit outside and have a drink. Just be careful. The locks on the bathroom doors are a little tricky. My roommate got locked in! The front desk staff who came up to help us was a little terse.
With some above average staff like Sonije at the desk and Aviadu in the restaurant. And all the rest of the hard working staff. My complaint is about being put in the substandard rooms of a 4 star hotel. One person did not even have a shower curtain. We had missing and burned out light bulbs. Regular furniture is outdated, Balcony furniture is old and oxidized. I'll bet the non-tour people are placed in nicer rooms. Just because our stay is from a tour we should not be put in the hotels substandard rooms. The rooms are dated and need upgrading. The stairs are dark and dangerous. Internet is slow, continually drops and needs to logged in all the time. Eggs were hardboiled, rubbery and overcooked. Breakfasts are always the same and boring. Not a great impression on me of Italy for my first encounter of this Country.
I honestly would have giving this hotel a higher rating if was not for a very rude waiter in the restaurant, but the rest of the staff were very helpful and polite. The hotel had a great old world charm, very last century, it may need a bit of upgrading to bring it up to standards but over all it was very good value for the price. Good breakfast buffet
Recieved such a wonderful and warm welcome from Michela. All the staff from reception to restaurant, housekeeping and bar workers gave their absolute best. The couldn't do enough for my daughter Pamela and myself and we were sad to leave. Beautiful room spotlessly cleaned everyday thanks to Rita. If anyone is visiting Montecatini Terme this is the number 1 hotel to book. Can't wait to return.
We stayed here for 3 nights Hotel was centrally located. Hotel was clean. Staff was very nice and attentive. Breakfast buffet was good. Parking was on the street at a price of 450 Euros per day. We would stay here again.
Everything was great! Only part that could be improved was the morning eggs on the buffet. They were not very warm. Also we needed a brighter light in our room. Could not read unless we went to the bathroom or window.
We spent a wonderful 10 days at the Tamerici, thanks to Eugenio and his staff. Everyone went out of their way to ensure that everything was perfect for us and nothing was too much bother for anyone. We were there on a half board basis and the food was delicious. There was a good choice of hot and cold food at breakfast (the croissants were so light and crispy!) and dinner every night was superb - they have an excellent pasta and pastry chef who gave us some of the best food we have had in our many trips to Italy. Special thanks to our friendly and efficient waiters Elvis, Kevin and Manuel who did a brilliant job, even when the dining room was busy. The owner, Eugenio, came round our table each evening to check that everything was perfect and we appreciated the fact that he was interested in his guests and wanted to ensure that everything was running smoothly. Our room was kept spotlessly clean and the linen was regularly changed. One very small criticism would be that some of the cutlery and a few of the plates at breakfast were not very clean - but everywhere else in the hotel the standard of cleanliness was very high. Everyone on reception was very helpful and friendly, but another special mention must go to the lovely Yuliya who went out of her way to help us. The hotel is very central and Montecatini is a good base for train travel to Florence, Pisa and Lucca. If you want a hotel where the old tradition of making guests feel special is still important, then the Tamerici & Principe is the place to stay. Thank you Eugenio and everyone else for making us so welcome - we miss you all!
Some of the staff were aloof and surely. One dining room server was particularly unfriendly and temperamental. He was quite nice and polite to some clients, however, he chose to be aloof and unfriendly towards us.
We have just returned from a wonderful week's holiday at the Tamerici with Inghams Italy holidays. We had a lovely suite, spotlessly clean and the choice of food was superb. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Elvis and Kevin. We were welcomed into the dining room every evening by the owner who shook our hands and wished us 'Bon apetito'. Our rep Andrea was extremely helpful providing us with maps of the places we wished to visit including train timetables. Summing up we had a great holiday.
I feel like I must have really missed something when reading the other reviews. This hotel was average at best. The room we had was a nice size and clean. The linens were ok and the bed was comfortable...but isn't that what you expect in a hotel? The furniture and decor was strangely mis-matched and worn. But, the real reason I absolutely will not recommend this hotel is that the owner (at least we were told by the staff he was the owner) verbally attacked us in the dining room at dinner because we sat at the wrong table. We were with a group, and there were no seats remaining together for four of us. All the tables for our group had candles on them and when the last two people came in they went and sat at one that looked like our group set for six people. They asked four of us to join them at that table. At that point - before I had even gone to the table - this man came over to me and my husband and started screaming at me in Italian and broken English at the top of his lungs with his face six inches from mine screaming and spitting at me. I was afraid that he was going to hit me. My husband stood up and he asked the man to stop and he continued to scream and looked like he was going to hit him any second. It was unbelievable. We left the dining room and he followed me out of the dining room all the way still screaming. We kept saying we would move and he kept screaming. The tour guide came over and tried to calm him down and he screamed the same way at her. One of the staff told us that he was the owner and that this had happened before. That's not my idea of how to treat guests at a nice hotel. Dine at your own risk!
