I stayed at Astor for 3 nights during a visit to Pisa I had for a wedding. It is a great value for price at a good location and close to the train station. Some of the staff are very friendly and some others not.
The hotel was very clean, very cheap and very central. Just 10-15 minutes taxi drive from the airport, 10 minutes walk from the train station and not too far to the leaning tower either. Pisa is a flat city, so everything can be walked to fairly easily. However, we made a mistake when we booked the room and booked two rooms which were not en-suite, but had a shared bathroom. The staff were helpful, but there is no-one available after midnight so if anything goes wrong there is no-one to report it to. Such as there was no loo roll in one toilet, no hot water at all and I managed to lock myself out of my room! Overall, an okay hotel but unlike us, double check what you have actually booked and me careful about causing mishaps after midnight (like the Gremlins).
Hotel was clean and very good value. Basic facilities. staff were ok, not so very helpful. Close to the station for train and airport. Very close to the center. A fantastic restaurant, Osteria San Paolo, just two blocks away towards the river.
I was desperately searching for a nice budget hotel in Pisa, spent running around 2 h, finally ended up in Astor. Even though the price wasn't that cheap (60 e), the hotel was very nice and SUPER clean, which is a rare find in Italy ;) Special thanks to the woman on reception, who stayed calm all the way and helped me to find best option, which is also rarely seen in Italy. We stayed in the double room with shared bathroom, absolutely no problem, shower and toilet were extremely clean! Didn't see anyone going there at all, even though hotel seemed to be booked. Hotel located in the center. 10 minutes to the Central railway station, 20 min to Pisa by foot.
Stayed 4 nights here with my teenage daughter. Close to the train station and high street for shopping, not too bad a walk to the leaning tower. Private bathroom was up the corridor from our room but not a problem. Clean and basic hotel which suited our needs, although maybe a few English channels on the TV would have been nice. Not 5* luxury but it doesn't pretend to be.
You have to share bathroom with the whole floor and it is not clean, the shower and the toilet were together so the toilet was very wet, the room was not as expected, the bed wasn't comfy and the hotel is only open until midnight. It would be fine if the price was lower. The location is great, close to everything, very close to the train station and 9 minutes away from the airport by taxi.
I got an ensuite for two, judging from the pictures i thought the room would be bigger, well.. it wasn'. It was room just big enough to fit the bed, the bathroom had everything you'd expect, even hairdryer, but was really tiny. It stated on the site that the rooms were soundproof, it clearly weren't, as you could hear people talking or passing by in the corridor, that's probably my biggest complain, since that "feature" was what made me go for it in the first place.
only a few minutes walk from the Central railway station. Easy walking distance from the Tower, the river & shops. Small room & very small bathroom but clean. OK for a couple of nights but not really for longer. I'd stay here again if I were on a short visit.
We stayed here a couple of nights ago. It's very basic, tiny room, tiny bathroom (the smallest shower, ever! If your slightly big it will be a squeeze). In much need of refurbishment but it was clean. We booked a double bed and found it was 2 single beds pushed together. It was about a 15 min walk to the leaning tower and about 15 mins to the train station which was perfect. It's worth noting the receptionist spoke no English but it was fine as we had a phrase book and it's pretty self explanatory how check in works. All in all it was fine but we wouldn't stay here again. Top tip - the taxi from the airport cost €8 it's much easier than getting the train and dead cheap.
We stayed here for just 1 night but found it to be clean and adequate for our needs. Small, but clean and modern bathroom. Easily walkable to the central station (5 minutes max) and approx 10/15 minute walk from the leaning tower and cathedral. I'd stay here again if I were visiting Pisa.
