We stayed in this Holiday Inn Express December 2017. It was chosen because we had traveled all day, it was getting late and it was close to highway and plenty of choices for dinner. The carpet in the room was dirty, like small rocks or clumps of dirt. Dried crumbs were ,left on the desk. The breakfast area was in need of attention. Food on the floor, tables not wiped off, no forks, coffee was cold, hot water not available, trash overflowing. Hotel is located next to mall, in mall parking lot, and half the mall seemed to be vacant. We always stay in HIE and have never sen one like this.
Bad area kids run up down the halls, people banging up above. You could also hear the people beside us. Poor sound surpression in rooms. Elevator had sticky stuff spillled on the floor. They had a cone in the middle. Had to go tell the front desk they needed to clean it up. The hotel is located behind a closed up portion of the mall. Only place to eat was Red Lobster over an hour wait.
Traveled this week with my husband to Pine Bluff, Ar. We most of the time stay at the area Holiday Inn Express!! There are 2 in the area, the 1 we selected was close to the mall. It was clean, quiet, the breakfast area was kept clean and the food was good, hot and everything was the way I loved it!!! I spoke to different ones there that was very nice, Tanesha was very sweet! And Ericka kept everything moving out front!!
The Holiday Inn Express in the nearly defunct Pine Bluffs Mall is an average-to-good hotel in a bad place. As far as the hotel is concerned, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean and well kept. The breakfast area was well stocked and clean, with the usual sort of free hot breakfast fare. Unfortunately, our room, and indeed the entire 2nd floor smelled of something that was a mixture between mold and chlorine bleach. Apparently there is a paper mill next to the mall, and perhaps this was the source of the noxious odor. Additionally, the vacant mall kind of gives one an uneasy feeling. It's not a bad hotel. It's just in a not-so-good place.
Our stay here was very nice. Room clean, good A/C, breakfast step above continental, parking lot well lite, etc. My only comment to management would be to get some night lights on the bathrooms - so guests can find/see toilet in the middle of the night !!
Heading to Tulsa, Pine Bluff was the halfway point so I decided to stay here. I booked through hotels.com and got something immediately. The young man that checked me in was very nice and accommodating. I was given a room on the second floor. When I stepped out of elevator at 5:30 pm, there were three cleaning carts haphazardly strewn in the hallway and a hanger and coffee cup laying on the ground a few feet past the carts. My room was clean and ready. I wasn't in the room maybe 45 minutes and I guess one of the cleaning ladies forgot something tried to get in. I had put the security lock on and she apologized through the unopened door and went on. This was my first time in Pine Bluff and it looks like many small towns that have taken a hit with store closings as I noticed in the mall adjacent to the hotel. I did not feel unsafe here but do feel there could be a bit better oversight on managements part to help elevate this hotel in what seems to be an economically depressed area.
Breakfast was pretty much empty too early. No biscuit and gravy was on the menu. No kid friendly breakfast options either. My husband was disappointed and the room was much more than we expected when we arrived.
Check in was pleasant (at least). Room was decent-No issues. Then things started to go bad. The business office only offered one PC, and that PC was running a bootleg copy of windows. Even more, the MS Office suite was never set up correctly. After completing a small job I asked my business partner why the mall (which the Hotel was adjoined to), seemed to be shut down. He explained that over the years the Gangs and Drugs have basically taken over the town, and most reputable businesses have shut down and moved away (along with most of the prominent townsfolk). After driving around town, it became clear he was not joking. Many, many businesses are closed, nothing decent to dine in, or shop at. I witnessed many police cars trolling about. I was advised by by associate, that if I where to stay, park under the front canopy, dont answer the door under ANY circumstances. Needless to say, after completing my visit, I returned back to my room, gathered my things, and drove 8 Hrs back home. THIS IS NOT THE HOTEL (or town for that matter) to stay. I always carry my sidearm when I travel, but this was ridiculous.
I had to go to the pine bluff area for my mothers funeral on Christmas Day. I called ahead and booked a suite. I told them we had two small dogs as it was Christmas and we couldn't board them, they have a small dog policy with deposit and we requested a first floor suite. We showed up to check in and they showed us to a THIRD floor suite which wasn't actually a suite because the sofa had been removed. We went in and the room had used syringes in it. We requested another room and were told that they had no more suites. Suspect as there were a total of three cars in the lot. He finally after much ado came up with a standard room on the first floor. It smelled and wasn't so clean but we had no choice. The breakfast was the only good thing about the stay and the employee that was serving it was chipper and helpful. The others acted as if we were bothering them. They were never behind the desk but in the lounge and had to be asked to come to the desk. Horrible DO NOT STAY HERE IT STINKS literally !
Usually very impressed with Holiday Inn Express, but this one is lacking. Room was dusty and floor was not vacuumed. Could see spots on surface of sink area showing that it was not cleaned properly. I wouldn't blame it on the hotel, being that it was my first visit...hopefully just need to supervise housekeeping better. Coffee area in room did not have cups...but the WiFi seems to be great.
