This was a fantastic experience from start to finish. This is a beautiful peaceful and calm location to relax and enjoy. The beach and pool fantastic and peaceful. The service was impeccable, the location wonderful and the hotel first class. We had a fantastic meal served to us on the beach to celebrate our 25th anniversary !!! Which was super super super! Thank you to all the staff and management who made our trip so wonderful. A special thanks to Tony.
Exceptional villas with own infinity pools, outside shower, bath etc, all with complete privacy. Brilliant. Understated and classy modern low-rise architecture in beautiful grounds offering total peace, seclusion and space. Have travelled extensively in S E Asia and have found nowhere that offers the same ethos as the Sala group does. Restaurant under all-seeing eye of Tony Wrigley, experienced International executive chef. Informal Thai buffet evenings producing particularly good choice of food, and would like these offered more than once a week. Staff, without exception, smiley and more than helpful, in true Thai style. We first came here 10 years ago, when it first opened and feel that there are now some maintenance issues that need to be sorted. BUT a brilliant holiday and place to chill. We love it here and will come back once more.
wow wow wow one of the best hotels we have stayed in loved the location, so peaceful and natural the spa massages were amazing the restaurant was world class and breakfast was made to order I especially loved the fresh honey dripping straight from the honeycomb everyone was so welcoming and couldn't help us enough the photos you see on the internet match what you find when in person just such an amazing place to stay we will definitely be returning
Very relaxed environment and a real sense of calm from the minute you walk in. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. Drinks and dinner are quite expensive but the good news is that there a few small family run restaurants within a few hundred yards that offer great food for c100-150baht a main course. A Chang Beer in the hotel is c.500baht but is c.120baht in most nearby restaurants. Also worth noting that you can get a 1hr massage on the beach for 500baht versus the hotel’s prices at c.5 times the price. The pool villas were really nice and had a charm about them but were slightly tired in places. There was nothing they had not considered in the room from plug in mosquito repellents to beach bag full of everything you need for the beach through to hifi, tv and safe etc. On arrival you get to pick your soap scents and pillows etc - a nice touch. A reasonable gym is offered but I have noticed the air conditioning is not normally turned on and when it is on it doesn’t work well; so expect to sweat...lots. Fantastic and beautiful beach - huge expanse so never many people nearby. Overall a really great hotel for a couples retreat with a lovely atmosphere.
A resort that offers a unique concept of relaxation! A wonderful exclusive haven ...that promotes comfort and rest in a clean, secluded compound with own villa and pool ..away from imposing crowds and noise. The architecture must be commended and the interior design and furnishings applauded .....it was such a beautiful stay for us as we relish the excellent decor and upkeep of the room, its pool and its enclosure. The dining restaurant has to be mentioned and complimented.too ...for the quality of food on the menu excels in its taste and in its presentation! Hats off to the chef and his kitchen team.Such detail to well cooked quality delicious food....be it Thai or European cuisine.. it deserves a Michelin award! Breakfast too is a hit ....the variety and the friendly service makes a nice warm welcome. My salute to Sala! Will try other Sala resorts now!
We loved Sala. The staff were all so attentive and kind. The food there was fantastic from breakfast through to dinner. The beachfront bar, the spa. Our Garden villa room was amazing! It's quite far from Phuket city and Patong so, you'll have to pay a fair bit to get anywhere but we spent 3 nights there, and it was perfect. Would highly recommend if you're looking to relax in a quieter, more secluded, romantic type of getaway
Great location, pool villa amazing. So quiet and peaceful. Clean, comfortable beds, helpful and friendly staff. Restaurant is world class. Would recommend for anyone to stay here. Will definitely be returning next trip to phuket.
We stayed in the one bedroom pool suite. I’ve never been happier with a hotel “room” in my life. The entire bathroom is outside along the pool. Inside is a king-size bed, tons of closet space, lounge, tv (never used it), desk, and then a folding wall opens to a second room with a sectional, another unused tv, and a buffet with mini-bar and coffee machine. Exquisite. There are two robes and two sets of shoes waiting. The grounds are lush and quiet. The staff are kind and gentle, though some are a bit hard to communicate with. The two hotel pools are also gorgeous. The beach is very long and lovely and nearly deserted, but when we were there the red flags were flying almost constantly to warn of the powerful undertow. Since the “room” isn’t really a room, but more of a high walled swimming pool with a very fancy outdoor bathroom and pool house, staff can’t just knock on the door. There is a doorbell. Our doorbell was malfunctioning. It was going off all by itself, sometimes in the middle of the night. SALA lost a star because of the doorbell. It took two days and two nights and too much complaining to fix it. Otherwise, the SALA experience is outstanding, from the time you arrive and they give you a flower bracelet and some insanely great cold ginger tea, to when call to check out and they pick up your bags and have them waiting for you in the car. So, so close to perfection.
We stayed in the Sala in Koh Samui last year and loved it, so it was a bit of a no brainer to try the one in Phuket. This one has a similar design but is more spacious all round. Our pool villa was just great - so comfortable and relaxing. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and everything is tranquil and very 'zen'. Great food. Would recommend having a car though - we were glad we did as it meant we could explore the area (and beyond) and try some local restaurants. The restaurants and shopping within walking distance aren't really worth bothering with - purely tourist stuff. Without a car you could end up feeling a bit trapped as it is a little isolated - in a good way. We found the driving fine whatever others might say about the hazards. Just stay alert and you will be fine. Only criticism of the hotel itself is that it is obviously an endless job keeping on top of nature and so the place is showing a little bit of wear and tear. Could do with some repainting and a bit more refreshing in places. But otherwise a fantastic stay.
We have to admit when we arrived we were initially a tad under-whelmed by the Sala Resort... BUT, after a week stay, we were so sad to leave this special place! We had booked a Garden Pool Villa but experienced a couple of minor issues which prompted the Management to kindly offer us an upgrade to one of the Sala Pool Villas - a really lovely sized room, pool and outside lounge and bathroom/shower area. The staff really make this resort special, they are so welcoming and attentive at breakfast, offer first class service and amenities around pool - chilled face clothes, smoothie shots, iced tea and for dinner service are charming and keen to hear all about your day, while again offering an excellent level of service. The food overall was very good, breakfasts probably our favourite meal, great choice from buffet and a la carte menu, but lunch and dinner menus tempting and tasty too. Chef Tony, who had just started at the resort during our stay, was very welcoming and keen to hear how we were enjoying the food and our stay. Mention must also be made to Oh, the Front Office Manager who was understanding, helpful and accommodating on a number of occasions during our stay; but really all the staff were lovely. The swimming pools are extensive across the front lawn area of the resort and it never felt crowded even with several families staying. Mai Khao Beach is impressive, goes on for miles and is uncrowded, however during our stay we were advised that as there may be rip currents offshore, it was not safe to swim in the sea. Overall this is an ideal resort to escape to and switch off and one we would happily return to one day.
