My husband and I stayed here for five nights as we were on a Thailand tour celebrating our 10th year wedding anniversary. As soon as you arrive at the property you are greeted with friendly smiles and cool drinks. The property you can see is well maintained and the atmosphere is vibrant with a lot of mid 30 age couples which I don’t mind because that’s around my age range. Check in was a bit slow as we arrived early and our room was being cleaned, I was a little annoyed because after my flight from Chiang Mai I wanted to unwind and take a shower. There’s only one elevator at the hotel or the option to take the stairs but not to worry you usually don’t have to wait for more than a minute as the elevator comes fast. The room is contemporary just like the pics on the web, with a comfortable king size bed and comfy pillows the only downside for me is not being able to leave my balcony curtain open if changing due to the fact that our balcony was facing towards others and we were on the third floor. Another negative for me was the lighting, it was bad in my room, I love good lighting to apply my makeup or to do my hair and honestly there wasn’t any, I struggled. On a positive note for the bathroom I loved the fact that the toilet was in a separate room from the shower and the tub which was nice to have was clean at a times. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices and staff were friendly and accommodating. Would I return? I don’t think so because I’d like to try other hotel options 4.5 maybe 5 star around the area if I had the opportunity to chose rather than my tour operator who put my package together for me.
Firstly, I'll start with the positives. I enjoyed my stay here in Chanalai Romantica. The property is just right along the main road and it looks beautiful. We had a wonderful room with a pool access. Breakfast is great with a nice variety of dishes. The room is brightly lited, with good choice of TV channels. We had very good sleep in all 4nights here. There's many restaurants and convenience stores along the road next to the hotel. There's plenty of choices of food. Staff are friendly and readily to help. I like the service here. Things to improve on: The hotel is a beautiful property, however maintenance seems to be lacking. Some tiles by the pool has been chipped off. Some mildews could be seen. Dead insects could be seen floating in the pool too. Breakfast area is very open and many bird love to come to dine together with you. It’s not very pleasant when they start to defecate where the food is served. This needs to improve otherwise there might be food safety issues. The toiletries are not replenished regularly. It seems that you are only given 1 set of toiletries regardless how long you stay. But the housekeeping is quick to respond when we requested for more.
We spent a week at Chanalai Romantica as part of a tour of South-East Asia. The hotel is simply superb. We upgraded to a 'direct pool access room'. Huge room with fabulous facilities.Great wifi, efficient air conditioning, great minibar, very comfy bed, loads of TV channels, scrupulously clean and (the best bit) the pool right on our balcony. The breakfast was superb. Loads of choice, eggs cooked to your liking, very well organised. We ate in the hotel restaurant a couple of times. The soft-shell crab salad was a particular delight. The standard of service was second to none. All the staff (with no exceptions) were friendly, smiley, polite and accommodating. Special mention has to go to Miss Diane (customer relations). Nothing was too much trouble for her. We needed a couple of things done as I was recovering from a spinal operation, and Diane sorted them immediately. Particular thanks for the change of sun loungers on our balcony. Also thanks to Cola for his never-ending smiles, and Huaeng for her helpfulness at reception. We have stayed at many upmarket hotels all over the world, and The Chanalai Romantica is right up there with the best of them! The best staff team ever! Thank you all for making our stay one of the best we've ever had! Hope to see you again, love from Pol and Rosie x
Very well located hotel with great staff. Any issues were quickly dealt with. Wonderful swimming pool - great length for a good workout. Nice big room with view. Toilet and shower plumbing could do with an upgrade. Will definitely be back to stay next time.
We stayed 7 nights in a pool access room, we were very happy with everything, the room was really good the pool was perfect the breakfast variety was huge but we stuck to omelets and bacon followed by fruit and yogurt, the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
We had a lovely stay at Chanalai, it was our anniversary and they were kind enough to upgrade our room! Couldnt fault the cleaners and hospitality of the staff of the hotel - especially the Gentlemen with the glasses that works on the desk during the night. We arrived early hours of the morning, tired from our journey and received the most warm welcome, which started our stay off perfect. He was quick and efficient with our booking and exceptionally polite. First impressions are everything - we would definitely stay here again and would love to return. Many thanks Chanalai! Xx
The best part of this stay was the check-in with refreshing towel and roselle juice. Everything from there was downhill. - The pictures of this hotel are outdated. The pool is off the street so anyone can walk in and use it. It's not private. - The keys are hybrid. There's an actual key for the door and also a keycard to insert in a slot to turn on the lights and AC. That means we were either both in or both out because it was way too hot to stay in the room without AC. - There was a regular showerhead and a rain shower. We love rain showers but didn't want to try the one at the Chanalai Romantica because it looked moldy/mildewy. The amenities also sucked. It's like the gym where you have the dispensers with shampoo, body wash, and lotion. The body wash was completely liquid and useless. Had to use the bar soap that's meant to be hand soap at the sink. - They are stingy with bottled water, just the two bottles when you first arrive. My reservation confirmation e-mail said daily two bottles of water. We finished one the first day and housekeeping just replaced that one. That turned out to be a problem since we came down with food poisoning the second day and we needed water. When I called the front desk, they said sorry, take it from the minibar. No sympathy. - Their restaurant is open air so birds and flies are everywhere. They fly towards you when you open a chafing dish. It's disgusting. There's also several water features between the lobby and the restaurant so lots of mosquitoes. - 'King' bed is really two doubles put together. - The WiFi is very spotty. I wouldn't be surprised if they were using cellular hotspots. - The location sucks. It's far from Phuket Town, the pier to go to the Phi Phi Islands, and the airport. My fault for not researching more but at least it was only two nights. - I booked and paid for the airport taxi and got a confirmation e-mail. Then I received an e-mail "A warm welcome, before your arrival" that said I had not yet booked my airport transfer and please click here to fill in your flight details and pay 2400 baht. When I asked about that, I simply received a reply that had the confirmation e-mail attached. The staff is responsive online but not detail-oriented. Even with a 60% discount for booking directly through their website, two nights still cost $215. A total rip-off. Please do not stay here.
really nice place to stay, had a pool access room and was so easy to get in and out of pool staff were helpful and even put balloons and cake in the room for 1 of our birthdays free breakfast was a bonus cant fault
Great place to stay, good location close to beach and restaurants and shops. Staff are amazing friendly and helpful especially Dianne. Rooms were big and clean. We would stay here again If we return to Kata.
My sister-in-law, her daughter-in-law, my two daughters and I spent ten days at the Chanalai. We thoroughly enjoyed the resort. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is definitely the biggest pro for this place, they were all truly amazing, and the hardest part in leaving was saying goodbye to them. Our rooms were lovely (we each had our own room) - spacious, clean, and with great amenities. The location of the resort is so close to shops and restaurants, although we found the food at the resort to be excellent. The pool area is beautiful, plenty of room, and kept very clean. All in all, this was a great place to stay for our holiday, and should I ever return to Kata, the Chanalai would be my choice.
