We discovered it by chance. The properly is away from crowds and quiet, which is great! The beach is not great for swimming due to rocky corals but isolated and peaceful. Amazing view! Free use of kayak was great. Not much to do around the area but if you need a quiet getaway, this is perfect.
I spent 2 nights at By the Sea with friends. We stayed in the 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms resident with the ocean view. Room was a bit old but clean with comfortable beds, large dining and living areas and also large balcony. Kitchen didn't have any pot, pan or utensil but had large refrigerator and hot water maker. There is no restaurant or shop near by so if you don't have your own vehicle, you might have to eat at the resort's restaurant. Food at the restaurant was okay. Breakfast was good but very limited options. I wish the restaurant has more tables since there were not enough tables for guests during breakfast. Overall, it was a great and relaxing stay. The staffs were polite and friendly. I love the pool but wish it had an ocean view and no concrete fence blocking the view.
Beautiful quiet resort in picturesque Cape Panwa. First of all, you need to rent a scooter or car if you want to explore the island because this accomodation is quite far away from the main tourist sights. If that isn't a problem for you, "By the Sea" is a great choice for your vacation. The staff is always smiling and very friendly, no matter when we needed something from them, they were always ready to help. We had a room on the top floor and it was huge. The view of the sea and the pool area was wonderful. We enoyed so many beautiful sunsets from our balcony. The rooms were clean and there were even beach bags and everyday fresh beach towels for us to use. I liked the fact that there wasn't only a shower but also a bath tub. The complimentary showergel and shampoo had a heavenly smell. The resort has a semi-private beach as well as a pool. The pool is clean and great for a morning swim before heading out to explore the island. The beach isn't that clean but it isn't the hotel's fault. The water is also a bit too shallow to swim, still it was a wonderful setting for morning and evening walks. There were sunbeds for the hotel guests to use. The hotel has a restaurant where breakfast is served every morning. (It was good with lots of fresh fruit but sadly it lacked variety) The restaurant staff was really nice, pointing out Muslim food options for us and making sure everything was okay. We just had breakfast there though because there were many great beach bars/ restaurants within walking distance from "By the Sea". Their staff is equally friendly, helpful and the food was slightly less expensive than at our accomodation. I would return to Cape Panwa and By the Sea in a heartbeat. The only negative thing about our stay was probably that we had to leave... and that we had to pay additional transport fees for the day trips that we went on. ;) I accepted the latter gladly because of the authentic Phuket experience we had in Cape Panwa. You can't have that in Patong.
Best hotel visited. Staff from hotel manager to youngest trainee excellent customer service - v relaxed, accommodating, efficient, flexible and always with a smile. I highly recommend. Best views of Phuket Bay - restaurant, beach and swimming pool close together and easy access
Great quiet spot. All the staff were great. The room and property were very clean. huge rooms. We had room B106 so great view and nice and quite Great walk down the beach to a great beach restaurant called the Beach Bar great staff Jay and Pee and all the other ones will take great care of you there as well
We just returned from two weeks at the By the Sea with another couple. We had a very nice couple of weeks there. I had read the reviews before we left about issues with the staff not speaking English. Here's the thing, it is Thailand. They speak Thai. Most speak enough to get by and if you are patient you can usually figure things out. We were very pleasantly surprised by the size of the room when we checked in. We stayed in a one bedroom right by the pool. c106. There are pros and cons to this. Very convenient to the pool and beach. However, they do start setting up for breakfast very early so you will sometimes hear dishes and chairs moving. If that is an issue you may want to request a room in section B. There were a few little glitches. Our air conditioning was either on or off. The temperature setting didn't seem to work. We managed it fine. The serve a breakfast buffet. It isn't huge and if you go after 9 there may be limited options but you can usually find something. There is an omelet station, a couple of different fruits some Thai dishes, boiled eggs, ham, bacon, sausage (hot dogs) and beans. The restaurant also has an all day menu. Some have reviewed it as expensive. I don't really agree. It is a little more expensive than that beach restaurants and the local restaurants in town but that is normal for a hotel restaurant. Still very reasonable. The Beach Bar is a short walk on the beach and is amazing and very inexpensive. The front desk was quite helpful to us when dealing with the car rental company and cabs. They tried as best they could to help with the language barrier. All in all, a great two weeks.
Some friends and I had a lovely stay on the Panwa side of Phuket. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. We had an unbelievable balcony view of the gorgeous light blue ocean and white sand beaches. Provided brunch was a yummy offering of local dishes. There are nearby bars and a wonderful massage on the beach cabana. We would love to stay again to soak in the quieter side of Phuket.
