A mixed bag, to be sure. Biggest negative was false advertising. We booked a sea view room and were given a room with a garden view only. I complained but “sorry sold out.” I had made my reservation 10 months earlier. Other negatives: poor WiFi that required constant re-signing in; a bedroom door, shower door and front door that were broken; no change of towels some nights. Most staff speak little English. Located about an hour from the airport (800-1000 baht taxi ride) and 20 minutes from Phuket town in an isolated area. Just a few eating places nearby on the beach and at the hotel. Beach is mediocre with a fair amount of garbage. Very slippery steps and lots of them. Now the good news: the rooms are enormous with a living area and kitchen. Property is right on the beach and most rooms have a sea view. Quiet area and decent restaurant. Good breakfast included. Very reasonable prices for beach location. Nice pool and lounge chairs on the beach. Free shuttle offered twice daily into town. In summary, it could be a great hotel but misses the mark and be sure to nail down your sea view.

After 2 months of eating in restaurants, we booked By The Sea because of its kitchenette and quietness. When we arrived I noticed that all the cupboards were empty. I went to the front office to be told where to go to buy dishes, can opener, toaster, cutlery, tea towel etc. They provide the stove top and the fridge but not the equipment. Later on, the restaurant sent a basket with 2 chipped plates, forks, knives and a pot without a handle. We were not the only one complaining but either their English is not good or as it was suggested by the group who stayed there 3 weeks he pretends not to understand us. Breakfast is limited. It is unfortunate because the building and pool are well kept. The rooms are clean and it is in a secluded area if you are looking for quiet. The beach is short and it has a lot of broken glass and garbage (not in front of the hotel). You can not swim or snorkel until high tide and the water always seems murky (really not ideal for beach lovers). You can find some local restaurants nearby reasonably priced. Tips: The first level of the hotel is subject to flood. Smoking is permitted in rooms and on the premise. Internet is often cut off. Limited tv channels (especially after 2 days of rain) . If you are going to use the hotel shuttle, make sure to book at the front office ahead of time. It has to be said that a lot of the staff are hard workers but the front office has problems. I wish there was a 2.5 for rating, 2 was low but 3 seems high.

A nice place to have a break from everyday busy life. Private beach, small restaurant, nice personnel, tasty food, shuttle bus to the city (every day). I recommend for people who need to relax and spend few days away from noise.

Very very disappointed. By The Sea has seen better days, looks OK from the outside but inside IMO It needs a refurb as a makeover would just not cut it. Food: Breakfast OK in the main. Other than breakfast we only ate there once, that should tell you what you need to know Staff: They were mostly quite miserable / unhappy. There were some that seemed happy to work but these weren't front of house, where it mattered. We went to one of their sister hotels, how different. ALL staff were happy in their work. There is a shuttle bus twice daily to 'Central' which is handy.

Second time here. Good deal. $110 Australian for three nights! Large room with a good view and kitchenette. AC that works. Amazingly, their system told them we had come back and there was a special welcome. It is relaxed and great value. Clean; nice staff; good beach literally in front of the hotel; along the beach to the south/left is a wondrous small beach restaurant 'At the Beach' with really great food for the money and sweet staff waiting. Highly recommended. Good fish and green curries. If you like you can set the table and chairs down in the lapping warm water and eat dinner with sand and gentle waves kissing your feet. Bliss! Will visit again if the Gods are willing. Recommended!

Two adults, four children in a two bedroom suite. The room was nice, the view amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we were not prepared for the level of isolation. Not even a 7/11 in the area. Be aware that there is nothing to do in the area. The hotel has a free shuttle van to Phuket town twice per day, be prepared to use it. Don't eat at the hotel restaurant except for free breakfast. Follow the beach to the left to find a much better restaurant. Better food, better prices.

I had booked two bedrooms where was older than pic. About 4,200 baht/night, it is expensive for service. The air condition hadn't cold and out of service. It had been fixed but temporarily. The pool is very small size and dirty. The breakfast was bad,not clean, not fresh ,may be cooked a long time.I think only coffee it's ok. Should have a car. The view is ok but you can find the other and can't play or swim in the beachfront.

We stayed from 15-19 April in a 2 Bedroom with a family of 5. First off we arrived really early from the airport (9am) and was hoping to be able to drop our bags and spend the time on the beach until checkin at 2pm. To our absolute surprise and delight they had a room ready for us immediately. A room ready for check in at 9am! WOW. The check in was really warm and welcoming. Very friendly with a welcome juice drink while doing the paperwork. We were then taken to the room and shown the details. The room was Huge. We had a 2 bedroom. Had a massive kitchen, living and dining area as well as 2 big rooms. 1 with king size bed and the other with 2 singles. Water bottles were provided every day which was a nice touch. Our booking included breakfast at the restaurant. As other reviewers have noted the breakfast has a nice selection of fresh fruit but the rest is a bit ordinary. There is however an omelette station where you can have an omelette and fresh eggs cooked to your liking. Be aware though of the flies while eating. They were everywhere. Mind you this was not limited to the restaurant on site, elsewhere eating at morning or late afternoon had the same fly issue. We used the free shuttle to Old town. Took us straight to the Big mall in town. Was nice and then we walked over to the weekend markets and Night markets. Took a tuk tuk home for 400B. The pool area was nice if not a little dated and the beach out the front was really only good for swimming at high tide as it is very rocky at low tide. View is very nice when high tide though. We also used the free Kayak a few times which the kids loved. We did not eat at the restaurant for dinner, as we ate at the Beach bar just down the beach from the hotel every night ( seperate review ), as the food was cheap and very nice. Be aware of the price of drinks at the hotel as well. A small beer cost 120baht where 80m down the beach at the beach bar they were 50baht. Overall a very nice quiet place to stay with family. All of the staff were very friendly and they even came and waved us goodbye when we got in our airport transfer.

The room was more a suite with a living area, a nice bathroom and kitchen and very large bedroom. But the best thing about this hotel is the most amazing views from the bedroom. It was wonderful to wake up to see that beautiful blue sky and sea(most of the time tho we did have some bad weather). The surrounding area is quiet but a couple of lovely beach bars within a few minutes walk either along the beach or the main road. There are more bars a bit further away but not worth the effort to get there. We hired a bike and toured the local area for a few areas and it was so nice to come back to our comfortable room, quick change and relax

This hotel has nice size rooms and they are clean. This is not a good hotel if you are handicap. They had breakfast every morning and it was good. The coffee is instant so don't expect great tasting coffee. The food prices I found to be very reasonable. The electric there is not the best. We lost power in our room every day. On our first night our electric box caught on fire. That added some excitement to our trip. The pool is very nice and they keep the beach area clean. Just down the beach are some good and very cheap restaurants and massage places. If I returned to Thailand I would stay here again.
