We loved so much about this stay. The Half House hobbit house is as beautiful and cozy as the pictures suggest and the location cannot be beat. Living in an Earl Young house for just a few days was a privilege and pleasure we won't forget.

We stayed at the Hobbit House with our two kids and had an amazing time. Short walk to downtown and a great beach directly in front of the property. The property was clean and the host was very easy to work with. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique getaway!

Amazing! We lived in Charlevoix 55 yrs ago as newlyweds in the Coast Guard. Husband spoke with Earl Young to rent the Half House. Couldn’t afford at 150 mo!!! ! So this was soo fun. Beach down the hill, town is walk able everywhere. It’s pretty much original so enjoy the history of it!!! We’ll be back!

Its adorable. A self guided tour has you having to open all the doors and drawers to find all of its secrets. Its like an Easter egg hunt. It does need to have a notation explaining the house is part of a historic tour and there are frequent cars stopping and pictures are being taken. It wasn't a problem. We just thought people were thinking it was adorable too.

Half House

We really enjoyed our stay at Half House. It was really close to the beach and downtown area. While it didn't have A/C, it insulated well and was comfortable at night.

Charming & Cozy Home

We visited Charlevoix for the second time to celebrate our niece's wedding and weekend festivities. We knew from our first visit that the mushroom houses were special, and we were excited to find one available for our visit. The home is small, but cozy (tall people need to be aware!). Our son was comfortable in the upstairs secret bedroom. Special touches with decor, books, and comfortable seating made the weekend while at the home very enjoyable. The large picture window providing views of Lake Michigan, summer flowers, and area wildlife were perfect.

Mushroom House with all the charm

We loved staying in an iconic mushroom house (smallest one I think) and the house is surprisingly spacious. The design of the “Half House” is well-organized inside, you just feel like an oversized person in a hobbit house in the most adorable way (yes, ceiling height was great!). The fireplace was our favorite feature. Our host was kind and gracious, all amenities were supplied and we just loved it here.

History and Whimsy

While not luxe, the Half House provided the whimsy and fun experience I was looking for when planning a trip for my two sisters. Half House has a lovely view of the water and it IS the view for passers by. It came with everything we needed for our two night stay! Thank you for a memorable experience!

Perfect Getaway!

The “Half House” is such a wonderful little place to rest, recharge, and fuel your soul! It has an immaculate view of Lake Michigan and the South Pier lighthouse. It is very well-kept and clean. There is so much history to learn about the houses, the town, and the region, in general. The check-in and out processes are incredibly easy and user-friendly. There is plenty of parking right near the property even without private parking spots. Overall, I could not recommend this rental enough! It was picture-perfect, even without picture-perfect weather. Just staying in and reading/playing board games was a magical experience.
