Our room was charming and clean. The hotel itself is an old historic building and was decorated with a lot of old furniture and art. Most of all we appreciated the very helpful staff. They organized trips for us, got hold of books we wanted and was always willing to find information for us. We felt like honored guests.
My father and I recently spent 2 nights in the Hotel Dei Priori and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was small but very clean and the staff couldn't do enough to help us- especially Nadia. The hotel was quiet (we never saw anyone else at breakfast) but the food on both days was lovely. The hotel is centrally located and very quiet. I hope to visit again one day
Recently stayed here for 7 nights, great location near the centre piazza but that's about where the positive comments have to remain.. Room was very small and badly in need of some repairs. The shower head was not able to be attached to the wall due to a broken fitting. Numerous complaints to reception always prompted a response that it would be fixed the following day. It never was. The toilet flush mechanism was broken, again same response from reception. Only way to use the toilet was to remove the wall fitting and pull the toggle! Every morning the housemaid would re attach the face plate and we would remove upon arrival back in the room in the evening. The headboard on the bed was missing the entire fascia. Again a nil response from management. Very poor!! Because we had a pre paid meal package we initially ate in the restaurant. The first few days were fine then the standard slipped to beyond poor.... Many people in the hotel complained to no avail and ended up eating at nearby restaurants. The daily offering was extremely disappointing and looked/tasted like it was leftovers prepared by the staff other than a chef!! We will not return to this hotel.
We were a bit nervous based on the photos here, but it seemed like this hotel was recently remodeled. Great staff, our room was really nice, the location is AWESOME. Right in the center of town. Just a great place.
Hotel Dei Priori is centrally located. Hop off the Circle "C" bus up from the train, just when you see the stone arch. (Centro) 2€. Skip the taxi ride unless you are in a hurry. Walk thru 2 arches and you're almost there, on the right hand side. Extremely clean and a real friendly staff. Most single rooms are small, but who stays in their room much anyway?
With only 36 rooms the hotel has an air of faded grandeur with high arches and thick walls. Yet is has been modernised and our room was spacious, fully air conditioned and had a modern bathroom. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, cheeses, hams and everything else you would expect, and there is a small bar and restaurant which we didn't use. There is surprisingly little English spoken in Assisi, even by younger people, and so it can be off-putting for guests who do not speak a little Italian. We found the staff very obliging and friendly, and the location of the hotel in the heart of town is wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the hotel and will be happy to visit again
Centrally located within a short walk of most sights, however a lot of walking up and down as Assisi is in mountains. Taxis available. Very helpful, rooms clean and quiet although a little small. If you are unable to climb stairs or get up at night ask for a regular room without a loft bed. Our room had a loft with king bed up 12 steps - bathroom was on lower level. This is the only negative for us. Non-loft rooms are available. Includes breakfast with a wide selection of eggs, meats, pastries, coffee, cereals etc
This is a really beautiful town. Of course seeing where St Francis lies is the total highlight. This hotel was adequate and the staff kindly let us eat very early to make sure we made our train. The beds were comfortable even though the bathroom was squishy because everything is so old and full of history.
Customer service needs to be addressed. We are a older couple booked our Superior room months ahead. We were given a room on two levels. Upstairs to the bedroom was polished narrow stairs with a wobbly banister. The next day we approached reception as a large group was checking out, we waited until their bags were loaded then asked if we could have another room as we found the stairs dangerous. We were advised there was only one available on the 3rd floor take it or leave it. We took it. The walls had paint peeling , the carpet was stained not what we paid for. Breadfast was a nightmare with a large group it was like a anthill, when they finished eating they made up little parcels to take with them. The Hotel does not care for individual people just large groups. I would not recommend this Hotel .
Our room (spouse and I) was on the third floor (stairs and elevator), very clean and with the usual - TV, writing table, luggage rack, closet- and wonderful casement windows so we could lean out and people watch from above. I did not have a night stand on my side of the bed, which I always use for the alarm and my glasses, book, watch... and the bathroom door handle was off, but neither of these things were impediments to a great nights sleep and a comfy abode to return to. Their restaurant is in the sub floor of the building, beautifully plastered arches, and we had a full buffet breakfast with each night of our stay. We did not eat any other meals there so I can not comment. Location is all, and we were in the center of this fabulous walled city. We would book again in a heartbeat.
