These people are scooping up data and copying licenses and passports, I objected to it. The owner is from overseas, who knows where this data is going. I am not sure of the legality of copying drivers licenses. The place is dirty and run down. No parking whatsoever. The clientele is not so great, it is emergency accommodation for WA homes I think. Basically it’s a really crappy place. Really dark and dingy, quite run down.

We arrived at the hotel at around midnight and besides us the man on the desk seemed quite tired so we felt quite depressed then. The room was very tired looking and also the decorations but the bed linen appeared clean as were the towels but unfortunately we were affected by insect bites while staying here. Strangely for a hotel the rooms were not serviced at weekends which wasn't really a problem, just strange.

For the price you pay this hotel is decent. The hotel is basic and very old. For sure it could use some refurbishments but the rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. The shower is good and the small fridge you have in the room is a nice bonus. Friendly and helpful staff. The biggest advantage of the hotel is the location. Recommended if you are just looking for a basic place to sleep.

Spacious room with high ceilings, good sized bathroom, clean, comfortable bed, ample supply of towels. A hotel with old style comfort, a little tired in places, however perfectly adequate and clean. Room equipped with today’s modern facilities, fridge, TV, tea and coffee making facilities etc. This hotel is the only remaining example of an Art Deco style hotel in the city. A hotel site with a long history; a licensed public house has operated on the site of the Criterion Hotel since 1848. It has been remodelled several times, and the present building was constructed in 1937 for the Swan Brewery Company Breakfast was available for $14.90 hot and cold buffet, nothing fancy, good value.

There's no frills at this hotel (none that I could see), but after 70 years it is still a comfortable stay in the heart of Perth city. Bed ✔, bathroom ✔, safe ✔, fridge ✔, tea & coffee ✔,wardrobe ✔,aircon ✔,TV ✔, secure lock ✔.

I have stayed in this hotel for 5 nights on November 2018. The best thing of the hotel is, LOCATION!! It is strategically located at Perth CBD, nearby Hay Street and London Court. Major bus stations are nearby include the bus No.380, which enable us to go Hotel from the airport, and went to Airport at the last day easily. The free Red cat bus stop opposite the hotel which can bring us to Perth train station with only 2 stops. Plenty of supermarket, telco, convenience shop, restaurant e.g. McDonald's, Subway nearby the hotel. There is also a backpacker's favorite restaurant, Taka Japanese Restaurant only 7 minutes walking distance from the hotel. For the hotel room, we stayed at Room 103, which is comfy, clean and very quite. The room looks almost the same as the photo provided by other travelers. The room provides all the basic things: hairdryer, writing desk, luggage shelf, tv, fridge with kettle and tea/coffee/milk, alarm clock and safe. All are pretty much than we needs. They even provides ice tray in the fridge, which is quite rare in most hotels. The housekeeping also did their job well, we only went out for 2 hours on one of the day during our stay, we found the room is cleaned even only 2 hours time. The front desk staff also nice and friendly enough to provide any assistance. On the last day after we have checked out, besides our luggage, the staff also very kind to help me to keep my apple strudel it in their own refrigerator, before we departed to Airport. Although the hotel is a bit aged, I feel that it still well-maintained and very good. For those who not renting a car and need public transport during Perth trip, this place is really great, and highly recommended.

I stayed in this hotel 3nights. Staff was helpful and ask for a deposit when you check in if I remember well. The hotel seems vintage or old fashion as if they haven't had the time to renew furniture and refurbish a bit, however I must admit for the price specifically for the place and location it was one of the cheapest and I had everything I needed for my stay. Wifi in the room but you need to renew it every 24hours or something like this. Air con, but Windows partially locked for safety, no much of a view.Tea and coffee making facility in the room. The room was spacious enough and bed ok. Shower and bathroom ok. Fridge (water in a jug, no bottle). So it was comfortable enough for the length of my stay. Lift available. The breakfast can be added with the restaurant room downstairs nearby. Even though there were not many staff at least there is one 24hrs if anything is required. God for solo trip.

Ive never felt the need to give a bad review untill i stayed here, my apologies. The air conditioning unit looked like it hadnt ever been serviced, it was covered in mold and could not be used on the hot night i stayed. The neighbor had a shower at 3:30am and it literally sounded like i was in the shower with them it was that loud, incredibly loud. I had no sleep. Was the worst ive stayed in.

This hotel is not worth the price tag. Mould in bathroom, paint peeling off the walls, internet is nonexistent, the tv and phone didn’t work, a non smoking hotel that stunk of cigarettes. Can’t complain about the staff as we rarely see them. The entry of the hotel and elevator are not suited to families of children requiring a pram either.

We stayed 4 nights at the Criterion Hotel. When first walking in I was a bit shocked at how run down it appeared. However, I'm a firm believer in it is what you make it. And we had a great stay. No problems at all. Hot water, comfortable bed, fantastic location and great price! Yes it is old and needs a freshen up and some maintenance, but hence it's great price. Easy walk to malls, buses, trains, ferries, everything you could want. I have no complaints. We enjoyed our stay. We would have stayed longer but needed a car park. We were a little apprehensive about the cafe, but all the food was very nice.
