This is our 4th stay at this hotel and was a big let down. You can tell by my previous reviews I have always been very positive about this hotel, but not this time. We stay here on our way back from euro Disney every year. Always a friendly welcome and enjoy it as our final nights holiday. Got their and as normally a friendly welcome. We noticed the menu had changed but no problem we just ordered what we wanted I had omelette and chips which was ok to be fair. Kids meals was a choice of ham and turkey with vegetables, which ended up been ham and turkey cold slices you would put in a sandwich and vegetables in a sauce that kids would not normally eat. The wife had chicken curry with rice and said it was the worst rice ever, but we hate it so no big issue. At breakfast one of my daughters had a bowl of fruits that she said it did not taste good, I had nothing other than a glass of fruit. My other daughter had bacon and sausage and both were dried up she just could not eat it. The wife had crepe which was too rubbery to cut up so basically for breakfast I we had a glass of orange juice each and me and the wife had a cup of tea. I then checked out and very quietly told the man behind reception why I was not prepared to pay the full amount for breakfast. In the end he charged us nothing for breakfast. I then went to put the suitcase in the car and my wife waited for my daughters to go to the toilet. I also noticed the man behind reception went to the kitchen to report what I had said so they would make improvements . Right up until this point I could forgive everything and put it all down as a bad one of as we have had had so many good stays here, then this happened - The breakfast staff verbal abused my wife about the complaint in front of all the other customers, ok all 6 customers that were their. This was out of order and I will be taking this up with the IHG group, because of this one incident alone I will never stay here again or recommend this hotel
Super comfortable hotel, friendly reception and brilliantly situated in town centre, with tempting restaurants just a short walk away. Perfect bed, large room - well furnished and good bathroom! Love it!! Yet to taste breakfast, but it’s bound to be up to standard!
We used this hotel the night before returning to the uk after a VERY long journey from the alps. The room was fine, but definitely needed a clean, especially the bathroom. The beds were adequate, but not as comfortable as other holiday inns. I woke up with a sore neck, which is probably also from all the driving by, but exacerbated by the stiff mattress and hard pillows. Location is good. Staff are friendly. It was an average, but not wholly unenjoyable stay.
The hotel had a perfect location for Calais. Staff were very helpful and extremely polite. The rooms were clean and warm although a refurbishment must be due. English TV was a bonus. Was impressed with overall stay therefore booked for the night returning via Eurotunnel. Local parking was excellent just opposite the hotel. Would definitely return
Stayed here from r two nights over the New Years holiday. Parked opposite which was free the hotels does offer parking at a charge. The hotel was well kept and staff were polite throughout my stay. Good selection available for breakfast and walking distance to the local bars and restaurants will book again next time I’m in Calais.
We had pre booked this hotel with hotels.com as we have used the holiday inn Coquelles before. We arrived to check in to find the lobby full of workmen but no staff, after waiting at least 5 minutes I went to find some staff to book us in they were sat chatting to each other in the bar. I asked about secure parking and was given a key to the secure car park what a joke The secure parking was 8 spaces with a rotting metal gate . I went back to ask if we could transfer our booking to Coquelles, the chap went away and said came back with his manager a very very unpleasant woman. She said we could not transfer and was very rude, we said we did not want to stay in Calais because of the migrants which were plentiful by the ferry port and she said there were no migrants in Calais at all. We left the hotel and went straight to Coquelles who welcomed us as returning guests only to be told today on checking out that we were really difficult guests, she had phoned Coquelles as we left Calais. We will not be using booking .com and we have used them many times before. I would rate this zero but it won’t allow me to.
Bathroom was terrible and the price you pay over a £100 including breakfast you expect more for your money . We complained about a bulb in the bathroom to be told by the man on reception , that he was on his own running everything . Surely on a Saturday afternoon that is a health and safety risk. He said the chances of him changing it was unlikely . Not a bad hotel but you expect more for your money .
These are the photos of rooms 404, 403 and another appaulling room. This hotel falls way short of the expected holiday inn and IHG and my own personal standards. Overflowing toilet, mouldy walls, filthy carpets, hairs in the bed and on the pillows inside the pillow case. This hotel needs shutting down and the poor man on reception having to single handedly run the hotel on a sat night with no manager, housekeeping, no bar staff. Stayed under duress of being so late in the day and no other hotel availability. One poor room could be forgiven but 3 is unacceptable. Absolutely SHOCKING !!!!!
Stayed the night after a long days shopping at Citie Europe. Hotel easy to find using Google Maps. Parking on site and we were lucky enough to have use of one of their garages, so secure overnight parking. Twin double room, with a great view over the harbour. Kids under 13 ate for free with a paying adult, this was for all meals. Food was nice. Hotel not far at all from the ferry terminal. Excellent location. Will stay again.
Just what we needed,we had time to kill before meeting our Daughter. So time at the bar and then a lovely two course meal and drinks for under €45. We often pop into the Holiday Inn for a coffee so it was a pleasant surprise to have such a good meal and fine serves.
