Very good staff. Rooms big , clean with coffee and tea. Bathroom clean with everything you need. Good quality towels.. Very good breakfast and gentle staff. Metro near the hotel plus a big mall , cinemas, retaurants.
A great stay at Sofitel La Defense, from check in to check out the friendly staff all went above and beyond to answer questions about Paris and assist during the stay. The room was clean and well appointed with all the luxury extras you’d expect from a Sofitel property. La Defense is easily accessible from the nearby metro station and only a few stops into central Paris. It does get very quiet in the La Defense area over weekend, so be prepared to travel for meals/coffee/drinks etc unless you eat at the hotels restaurant.
After an initial negative impression (things seemed missing but were rather misplaced, the telephone on the desk not working but the one on the bedside did) we were able to enjoy a good bedding, clean room, good breakfast and very helpful staff. Rather smallish rooms but very good for Paris and not the large spaces for the bar, lounge and restaurant that you usually find in Sofitel but good enough for a short visit to Paris.
The food for the evening isn't great and I had expected much more. it is very low-regular and overpriced. I normally get some vouchers for drinks and this time no-one offered them nor anything to feel best welcomed in the hotel. Service from the staff is extremely friendly and positive.
I stayed here for 7 nights in May 2019, followed by 2 nights in the Novotel nearby because the Sofitel was full for those nights. The Novotel was 20-30% cheaper but the Sofitel was WAY better. First of all, you should only stay here if: - you need to be in La Defense for meetings (which was my reason) - you want a 5* hotel in Paris without paying central Paris prices As a business hotel, it was great. Room was spacious, bed super comfortable, bathroom spacious and clean. My rate included breakfast and it was pretty good, although by the 5th day I began to tire of the same spread. Service was pleasant throughout my stay. I had to order room service a couple of nights that had to work, and the food was decent. The negatives are that La Defense is purely a business area, which means in the evenings and on weekends the area is completely dead, and there are very limited dining options within walking distance. I stayed through a weekend, and I found that commuting to all the touristy parts of Paris was really easy. There is a metro stop right in front of the Sofitel (Esplanade la Defense), which takes you to Arc de Triomphe in 10 mins and the Louvre in 15. Since this is a business area, the weekend rates come down, so if you're here on holiday it's a neat way to get a 5* hotel at half the prices of equivalent hotels downtown.
We loved this hotel. We got a great weekend deal as it is located in the business area of Paris meaning it is quiet at the weekend. The location is just a few metro stops to all the sights Paris has to offer. The rooms are large which isn't always the case in Paris and the service was first class.
I stay at Sofitel Paris La Defense with my family, the hotel is very nice and the team in the hotel is helpful and cooperating. The location of hotel is Good near from Les Quatre Temps and metro to go to Arc de Triomphe. but you have road difficult to reach to the hotel by own car.
It was a disappointing stay. Eating breakfast was an exercise in patience. In one day it took 40 minutes to make an omelet without pepper and in the other we waited 25 minutes because the bread was finished. Another day we had to change rooms because the lights did not work. Very sad for a hotel that claims to be 5 star.
We stayed as a party of 7 during the recent Marathon weekend. We had 4 rooms in total and were very pleased with all of them. The hotel is NOT in the center but is a 10 minute metro ride away from it. Personally that suited us better , especially on such a busy weekend with so many road closures. We were warmly welcomed and manage to get into our rooms nice and early, they also allocated us all together which was fantastic. The rooms were lovely and large, plenty of amenities and a very comfortable bed. The TV does have English channels which was an asset to us when recovering after 26.2 miles! Plenty of plugs and we had a lovely view of the Esplanade. The area is very quiet at the weekends, the integrated Starbucks doesnt open on a Saturday or Sunday. However, the 4 Temps shopping Mall has loads of places to Eat, Drink and shop and we found it a great asset as only 5 min walk away as is the Metro. We didnt eat in the hotel but did have some drinks and snacks. As you would expect in a 5* hotel in a major city, it isnt cheap! The hotel stay ordered us a taxi to take us back to the airport so as we didnt need to wait and were always helpful and accommodating. I would definitely consider this hotel again if we returned to Paris.
A “budget” alternative to staying in central Paris is to check out the Sofitel in La Defense on Friday or Saturday nights. It’s a business hotel and the area is very quiet (some might say dead) on weekends which makes for a restful experience. The staff were very courteous and allowed me an early check-in (much appreciated after a long flight from North America). There are numerous grocery and pastry shops as well as cafes in the nearby underground mall. About a 10-minute metro ride to Chatelet/Les Halles.
