We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Saint Germain des Pres. Our room was on the top floor, which meant beams on the ceiling which needed to be avoided near the walls, but they added to the overall charm. The only criticism was the pillows were oddly lumpy and not comfortable. The front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful with making arrangements. We were surprised though that there was a separate charge for breakfast, which we discovered when we checked out. Our mistake for not being clear on that, and the food was good. The room price was on the higher end to begin with, and the breakfast charge didn't help. But the charm and wonderful people made up for it!
Quirky boutique hotel in great location, only minutes away from metro station at Saint German du Pres. Lots of bars and restaurants within a short stroll. My room was small but adequate for a short stay. Friendly, helpful staff.
When searching for accommodation for our brief 2 night stay in Paris at the end of a six-week trip to Europe - as part of the planning prior to the trip - we were pretty sure we'd found the right place when we came across the Saint Germain des Prés. When we arrived at the hotel several months after booking it, we knew we'd made the right choice. The location was excellent, with a huge variety of restaurants, cafés and shops very nearby. The famous Les Deux Magots is almost next door. The hotel had a real character to it that was quite different to what you'd find staying in one of the 'chain' places. Very French. You'll see what I mean if you check out the photos. Dominique at reception checked us in, and was a wonderful lady - very helpful and quite the character. We enjoyed the breakfast in their breakfast room. We would highly recommend both the hotel and the St Germain des Prés district.
Beautiful! A charming, romantic feel as soon as you walk in the door. A statue in a niche, formal wrap staircase, lovely breakfast room. Even the hallway is charming, with stenciled flowers on the doors. We booked the flowered suite (suite fleurs) for 3 nights, and I would highly recommend it. Fantastic! Looks exactly like the pictures!! We wanted to feel like we were in Paris, not in a chain hotel, and the St. Germaind des Pres did not disappoint. We plan to return soon! Many thanks to the friendly, helpful staff!!
We had a wonderful stay at this boutique hotel. Loved the French style and atmosphere of the rooms. We were welcomed by the delightful Dominique who upgraded our room which was a pleasant surprise. Dominique was very helpful and friendly which made our stay wonderful. The location of the hotel is excellent as there are an abundance of restaurants and interesting shops within walking distance.
I stayed with my two teen boys for a few days, what a wonderful hotel. The air conditioning was much loved! A beautiful bathroom and room decour. We so enjoyed coming back each day after seeing the sights to relax. The hotel staff are wonderful and welcoming and helped me with all my questions. Local area is fabulous for meals out or just sitting in a cafe watching the world go by. We’ve had a lovely time.
We had reservations at a different hotel in Paris that we had stayed at before (Hôtel les Degrés de Notre Dame, nice, affordable place, great area) but with the weather forecast predicting record breaking heat we canceled that and looked for a hotel that had air conditioning. So glad that we found Hôtel Saint Germain Des Prés. This is also an older style hotel, but it has been updated with air and an elevator. Reasonable rates, very compact but comfortable room with interesting decor. And after walking for hours in 105º temps, turning on the air was wonderful (and we could sleep!) Minibar fridge helped cool our evening wine and cheese, morning yogurt. Not in the most touristy part of Paris, but there is plenty to see and do in the area, good walk to other tourist sites. Again, the room was VERY compact. It worked for us, but some might find it cramped.
At the last minute we had to modify our lodging arrangements in Paris. A cancellation allowed us to reserve a room in this, unknown to us, elegant little hotel in the middle of the Saint Germain-Latin Quarter. From here we spent a restful week exploring the city. We started the day with a full buffet breakfast in the hotel, and then visited old haunts and new ones, most within walking distance. Eric and his staff were very helpful and friendly. It was a perfect ending to a month long trip through France.
This hotel was a dream. I was searching for a hotel which was authentic within a specific price range and it was really difficult until I came accross Hotel Saint Germain Des Prés. Upon arrival we were greeted by the most polite and friendly gentleman who was a delight to assist us every day no matter what (he was even a great photographer). Another lovely member of staff, Dominique was stylish and sweet and was also a delight to assist us with anything. The decor around the hotel was beautiful and when we arrived at our room on the 5th floor we were over the moon. The room lived upto it’s expectation and we could not fault it. The surrounding areas to the hotel were stunning. A real authentic feel, not many tourist and everyone was very inviting and friendly. We discovered that lots of our restaurant recommendations were right on our doorstep which was a bonus. We felt safe in this area. Me and my partner were extremely pleased with our stay and we look forward to making it a regular thing to stay here at Hotel Saint Germain Des Prés.
We stayed at the hotel on two occasions for 2 to 3 nights each time. Our first room was on the fourth floor room 46. It has a good size hallway into the room which makes it very quiet and the room but it’s up to a courtyard so very private. Very modern bathroom Internet has good Wi-Fi. Love the Decour. Our second stay was on the first floor room 14 although it faces the street the block that the hotel is on his businesses and so there is very little noise at night time. The surrounding blocks have excellent restaurants and we dined mostly at the Vesuvio pizza up the street. There is also a really neat church on the corner which has a small playground for kids. The buffet breakfast has eggs sausage cereal some fruit sliced deli meat and juice is very convenient it starts at 7:30. Hotel staff were very very friendly and helpful. Although some people had trouble with the key we did not. We arrived very jetlagged and still easily figured out the key essentially you put the key in half way then make a slight turn then continue to insert the key turning it all the way to unlock the lock. The area is perfect for exploring Paris. This is our second year visiting Paris and we will definitely return to this hotel
