This hotel was actual garbage, i have never stayed in a 3 star as i always pay more for a 5 star but unfortunately had too because it was on a university trip, but 3 star rating is correct. It was the worst room i have ever slept in, this one staff member behind the desk was beyond rude especially excusing my group of smoking in our rooms when none of us smoke at all. I can not stress enough on how bad this hotel was, the district that this hotel is in is also horrific and not the "Paris" you would want to stay in. For the amount i paid, i could have gone in a 5 star hotel in district 1,2 or 8 which are much nicer and cleaner.
Nice clean hotel, rooms small but functional. Nice bathroom. Close to metro, cafes food outlets, and Republuque Square. Staff very helpful, even had a fan in the room. We had a front room but surprisingly, very little steeet noise.
Super comfortable bed, EXCELLENT staff - especially the front of house manager couldn't do enough for us. Made us feel very welcome even when we were really early for our check in. They were very kind and welcoming. The room was immaculately clean as was the rest of the public space in our hotel. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Excellent location, very French and very very tres bien :-)
Hotel Meslay is a 2 minute walk from Place de Republique, with easy metro access. It is an older style hotel, yet quiet and comfortable. A parisienne breakfast is available - I would definitely recommend it. Not only is it a very good breakfast, it is also less expensive than eating elsewhere. Each member of staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend the Meslay and would not stay anywhere else in Paris!
We recently stayed here for 8 nights, on our second visit to Paris and our second stay at this hotel. The hotel is in a great location, with absolutely everything you need just a short walk away, while itself being in a quiet street that allows sleep. You can walk in any direction from the square and find somewhere nearby to eat. There is a supermarket across the street and two metro stations within minutes. The hotel itself is fairly old, but it has comfortable beds, helpful staff and is good value for money. The rooms are about the standard size for European hotels, so not big, but with enough space to put your things and move around. They also have a taxi service to the airport, which is much better value than the average Paris taxi. We would happily stay here again.
I have been there with work, the room was clean, quite good size for Paris, the bathroom had some bad looking technical lid for bathtub pipes access, but overall, the room was OK. A big plus was the fridge and another big advantage is being 3 minutes from metro Republique, where you can take many directions. It is also at a 20 min walk to Notre Dame. A big disadvantage was the breakfast. It was very poor. You could rarely find some ham or other type of meat, and in some days there was only one type of cheese available. Also, the coffee was long, weak and tasteless. For 12 euro/person/day, I think it is a daylight robbery.
I stayed at Hotel Meslay Republique for a week during my last work trip to Paris. It has a very good location near two metro stations (Republique and Temple) with lots of good restaurants in the area. The hotel is quite clean and the staff is very nice and polite. As cons the breakfast is one of the scarcest i have ever experienced in all my life. So it's best not to count on it. If you don't have it included it costs 12eur, but i advice you to spend that 12eur eating from a supermarket or a restaurant. It will be more well spent. Also the hotel would benefit from a renovation since all furniture is quite old and the blankets on the bed reminded me of old hospital beds. The heating system was also bad but I was lucky with October weather in Paris. So all good for a city break, but for longer stays i probably would look elsewhere.
This holiday was perfect , so close to the metro. Lots of nice restaurants around the hotel. Perfect for people who want to be close to everything. My favourite hotel in Paris, Iv stayed in dozens and this is the best so far
I only stay for 1 night at this place. I booked single room without balcony. The reception is very friendly, room is clean, wifi was good. The only downfall for me is the shower... too small even for small person like me :( This place is only 300 meters from the Republique Metro Station. So easy to find because this metro is only have one entrance/exit. When you get out from the station cross the street on the right hand side, walk for 20 meters then you find the rue Meslay street on your right. Go down that street for 50 metres and you'll find this hotel on your left.
Our stay was okay. Most of the staff were very nice except one. There was a woman, with dark hair who had an attitude! The rest of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. She made fun of my pronunciations of French words and lied to us about when our room would be ready. I try very hard to be polite when we visit other countries and this woman made it very hard to stay nice. We arrived early in the morning, tired from our long flight. We asked if there was somewhere we could get something to eat. She proceeded to tell us that no restaurants were open at that hour. The hotel serves breakfast and charges for it. We would have been happy to stay at the hotel and eat. She never offered that. When I asked where we could get a cup of coffee and a croissant, she sent us down the street. We left after we were told the room would be ready by 1:00. We toured around the neighborhood and had lunch and showed up at the hotel again, exhausted, at 1:00 and were told our room wouldn't be ready until 2:00. When I asked about the time she told me I made a mistake! She pretended not to know which museum I was talking about when I asked about the "Orsay" not the d'Orsay. Sorry!! Everyone else at the desk knew which museum I was speaking about. The nice gentleman who was also at the desk answered my questions and even got me a brochure. The hotel is just average, it was clean. Also, make a note, they DO NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING IN THE ROOMS!!! They did have a fan which made the room barely tolerable at night. Would not recommend this hotel in the summer months. We were lucky that Paris was fairly mild during our stay.
