Small, clean and simple hotel. Fine for a short stay and somewhere to sleep. Close to Sacre Coeur, 10 minute walk from Gare de Nord. Pleasant and helpful staff. If you're polite to Parisians they will return the favour. Respect their culture as you would want them to in your home town. Always my motto!
Stayed for three nights for the Euro 2016 tournament and the man behind reception treated us like absolute vermin! As football fans we can be loud but, as with all the other cities we have visited, there were more than enough bars and clubs for us to be rowdy and we only used our room for sleeping. The guy shouted at us, whistled as us and made us feel like naughty school kids and we're still trying to figure out what we did wrong. On our last night we enquired about staying an extra few nights and he said no, he couldn't wait for us to leave! As someone who the hospitality industry, I know if I treated customers with even half the contempt of this man I would have been sacked a long time ago. Absolutely disgusted, will not be back!!
A romantic weekend turned into an unfortunate experience! From securing the room online we arrived to be told that there was no double room available despite there being trace of the booking via booking.com. Admittedly the concierge was extremely pleasant and accommodating (he did his best to find a room available in the hotel and without success he called a competitor hotel two streets away(Hotel Corona) and managed to get us a double room at the same rate. Excellent trouble shooting & customer service in our mind. The surprise came the following morning when we were charged anyway for the room we never slept in! We immediately went back to Hotel Marena and were greeted by an aggressive, hot headed owner of the hotel who refused to refund our money accusing us of not arriving the night before. We explained what had happened at which he continued on his rampage and accused us of not wanting to sleep at his hotel despite there being single beds available. (something we did not request upon booking) He then continued to insist that he would not give us our money back, called the competitor hotel demanded that we move our belongings from their facility and that we come to his hotel. Feeling like we had a" gun held to our heads" and not wanting to waste another minute of the short 48 hours in Paris, we did just this! Thankfully the owner of the Hotel Corona was understanding and refunded us our money, apologised for uncomfortable situation which they certainly had not created by merely trying to help out two tourists. We would not recommend Hotel Marena not because of the lack of organisation as mistakes can happen, but purely because of the aggressive, unreasonable and almost threatening person at the top.
I was given a room at 7 p.m. Which was not even cleaned. I was then given another room, whose chair was broken. The bed had some flies there, carpet was stinking. No locker facility available. Hardly any space to keep your luggage. I stayed for three nights and just once was the house keeping done..... On the positive side, if you're single ahs just a place to rest in the night with clean private toilet, this should suffice. Not far from cadet metro station..
I didn't enjoy my stay because it wasn't good starting off with the Food wasn't good (breakfast) Cold water in my toilet bath sink etc And mold in my windows and wood The only good thing was the TV and free wifi that's it !!Do not recommend a stay more than 4+days
Good hotel for decent price. Very convenient as people looking for Halal food can easily find few kebab shop. and people who loves to drink and smoke till late night there is a TABAC (Pub who can only sell Cigarettes) next to the hotel. Best metro station is Cadet. Bus is 85. Bakery is also situated in front of hotel so you can go and buy different things anytime. Paris is beautiful but people are not very nice and warm.
Hotel is close to Main Station of Gare Du Nord, and few steps away from the Famous Metro. Most of sights are less than 20 Minutes by Walk. Clean, Neat, and no fancy place, ideal for budget traveler. Continental Breakfast is adequate. Front Desk handled by Arabic staff (Tunisians), fluent in French and English too.
Some hotels just feel good. And this was one of them. A cute little room with white bed linen on comfy beds, with a dinky refitted bathroom and a pleasant street view. Yes, this was noisy, but why stay in Paris if you don't like the sound of the locals going about their lives? Stroll out the front door and there is a bar, patisserie and restaurant within stumbling distance; Gare du Nord is 15 minute walk away (though the directions given by booking.com were confusing - though that might just be me), whilst I definitely recommend making metro St George's your local. Great organic cafe if you turn left out the front door and stroll 200 metres, conveniently en route to aforementioned metro and a variety of typical French shops. I felt a strong 'village' atmosphere to the area, which is just how I like it. Sacre Coeur and Montmatre within walking distance. Just a couple of minor suggestions - do not disturb signs for the door would be handy (I didn't hear the maid knock) and it's pretty dark in the left luggage cellar! I look forward to going back and taking my husband next time.
We booked this hotel because it was cheap and centrally located. All the other reviews I had read were negative but we decided to take our chances. To put it simply...you get what you pay for. Yes, the rooms were small. Yes, the breakfast wasn't extravagant. Yes, the Wifi could be poor at times. BUT for less than $130 a night, what were you expecting? The reception staff were pleasent and extremely helpful with directions and reccomendations. The breakfast may not have been 5 star but if you're up at a decent time you can have delicious fresh crossiant's with jam and coffee every morning. Yum! The location is absolutely unbeatable! You're within walking distance to many train stations, 5 minutes away from Anvers and 10 minutes away from the Sacre-Couer and Montmarte. We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and every night we visited the Sacre-Couer and ate delicious fresh sandwiches from Anvers on the steps of the church. What other hotel is going to give you a location this nice for the price paid? We spent about 15% of our time in the hotel and spent the rest of our time enjoying the ambience of Paris, not sitting in our rooms doing nothing. I will admit, the shower was the only negative point because it was small and uncomfortable but I can forgive this minor point because we found everything else to be satisfactory. Give this place a chance :)
Dirty and very old hotel. The receptionists are impolite. The breakfast is poor. The quality and quantity is too low. They say that the breakfast is from 7-10:30 and until 9 there is nothing to eat. Also, the rooms are too small and hot. There is NO WIFI and there is too much noise from the streets. They don't change the towels and they don't put toilet paper. If you want to enjoy your holidays DON'T STAY in this hotel.
