Hôtel Elysées-Opéra

I'd like to clarify that my rating is based on my personal experience the week I was there. The hotel itself is very nice, with friendly staff and decent rooms and breakfast. The issue I had was with the last two nights I was there. The A/C went out and it was 95 degrees outside. I received no support from the staff except "we called the technicians." No contingency plan like fans or anything else was available either. It was practically impossible to be inside the room for more than 10 minutes. Even with the windows wide open, the heat was unbearable. I had to hang out in the lobby most of the early afternoon since even though I was told the A/C had gone out in all the hotel, the lobby was nice and cool. The last night I was able to sleep well with the window open but just because I got lucky the temperature cooled at night. Other than this horrible experience... the hotel is very nice, well located and with decent rooms. Wifi could be improved though.

Hotel was in a great quiet part of the city. Lots of great local places to eat. The hotel was clean, and the staff was very helpful!

The staff was extremely helpful. Allowed us to keep our bag there while we visited Paris because we were traveling later that evening. The staff was very nice, helpful, and gave us great information. The neibirhiod is very lively, great restaurants and shops very close by. Also very convenient to all the popular locations. There are many bus stops and three metro locations near by. We were able to grab a nice breakfast in a nice neighborhood before going to Paris. Also we were able to pick up fruit and groceries at to keep in the room. The room was a little small but honestly you don't want to spend a lot of time in the room anyway.

I stayed at the Elysees-Opera in July 2016 for 10 days. After booking through Orbitz, checking in took all of 1 minute, even though I was expecting not to be allowed in my room, as I was about 3 hours early. The staff is friendly, the rooms are beautiful, and the neighborhood is very safe and removed from crowds, but very accessible. There are three metro stations around the hotel, and many buses. The shuttle that the hotel partners with is abysmal. I prepaid to take the shuttle at 6:30 AM, and the driver arrived at 6. I was in the van by 6:12 after the front desk called me. He was pleasant on drive to airport, but once he dropped me off, tried to charge me ten euros - "one euro per minute of waiting." I thought he misunderstood, and showed him the receipt stating my pickup time was 6:30, and informed him he'd been very early. He reached into my purse and grabbed my wallet, at which point I started shouting and flagged down a curbside attendant from the airport. DO NOT TAKE THIS SHUTTLE! They are obviously accustomed to manipulating tourists. The hotel stay was so lovely, I could not believe they promote and partner with such a sketchy and ridiculous service.

Ah, Paris. This hotel was everything we were looking for: a small but well furnished room in a good location, working bathtub. The balconette attached to the room made it feel magical. Of course, it's not as convenient as a hotel, say, right next to the Louvre or Eiffel Tower (if you're there to sightsee) but this hotel is just a 2 minute walk away from 3 different metro stops. There's always someone at the front desk (and they all speak flawless English), and free access to WiFi as well as an ethernet connection in the room. If you do stay there, be sure to look up Gavotte La, a charming creperie, just down the street. Across the street is Le Bouco, a nice French restaurant with the most divine fish I have ever had. Two doors down from the hotel is a pizza place run by an Italian man. Basically, after a long day of sightseeing and dealing with hordes and hordes of tour groups wherever, it's very comforting to take a short metro ride back to this hotel and just relax on the bed and enjoy the flatscreen TV :) Very good value.
