Had a very pleasant experience during our stay. The staff and front desk were very helpful in resolving a situation - it was appreciated. Location is ideal - and the decor is lovely. Will be staying again in the future.
To the Hotel Manager I am writing to express my appreciation for the quality of service you offered during my stay. Despite the many offers I received from other hotels, I decided for you because of the unbeatable deal as a SPG loyalty member you offered me. I would like to comment how pleased I was with the service provided to me by Ferdinando Villalaz and the staff since check in! I have stayed at many luxury properties across the World and have found most of them pretty good and the staff generally friendly. Our company represents celebrities and high end profile clients internationally, as we are here with the MTV crew for a wedding. Ferdinando asked if had any constructive criticisms to make about the Hotel. I was glowing and not the one to ask. I have been racking my brains to find something positive to contribute in this respect. But, so far, I have not come up with anything other than praise and thanks. My only advice is: just keep doing what you do. I hope to return to Panama soon on business, but, alas, probably not until next year. Next time I shall certainly add a few extra days for leisure at the Hotel and bring friends who sadly was not able to join me this time round. We could see from day one that the hotel service was of great quality, both because of its comfortable and appropriate facilities, as well as service and constant concern for our comfort. Thank you especially for being aware of our requirements. I have very high standards and Ferdinando exceeded them every step of the way. Being in Public Relations and marketing, part of my job is to spot outstanding achievers and make sure senior management is aware of their dedication. I am not sure of Ferdinando's current role, but I would urge you to put him in a training or leadership role so his talents can be seen by others! Sincerely, Reese Darligton
My husband and I headed to Panama for the first time for my birthday. I have Platinum status through Marriott. Since we had never been to the country before, and I like to arrange as much as I can before I get to a country where I don't speak the language, I was in close communications with the concierge Ferdinando. He provided lots of information on siteseeing, attractions, tours, and restaurants. We arrived on a late Thursday night. The guy at the front desk promptly greeted us, said he was looking forward to our arrival and checked us in. He also made suggestions for dinner from the room service menu. Meals: Being a preferred member I was able to take advantage of the daily continental breakfast and happy hours in the afternoons. During our first breakfast in the club lounge we were just made it in time before breakfast ended. Eric greeted us and provided us with everything we needed. He was very friendly and able to provide us with bottled water before we headed out for the day. He also introduced us to the local rum, Abuelo. We found the continental breakfasts to be pretty good, offering a variety of options from toast to omelettes, coffee, and fresh juices. We ordered room service on two occasions. When we arrived we had the steak baguette and the sea bass. Both dishes were good, though the steak came with yuca fries versus potato fries, which I don't believe is specified on the menu. On another occasion we had the cheeseburger and a salmon wrap. The burger was pretty good and came with potato fries. The salmon wrap was not what we expected, it was more of a smoked salmon. During evening happy hours in the bar appetizers are offered. Usually there was a ceviche, chicken based, veggie based, and dessert appetizer. Everything was tasty. Bar: During the evening happy hours we were offered rums, vodka, champagne, wine, and beers. The bartenders were pleasant and knowledgeable about all the spirits offered. The waitress was also very nice and attentive. They even were able to help us with finding a store to obtain personal bottles. Accommodations: We arrived at our platinum suite and were pleasantly surprised. There was a cake with 'Happy Birthday' written in chocolate as well as a handwritten welcome note. The suite has a full living room, sitting area, wet bar, mini fridge, and mini bar. The bedroom was large with a large bathroom, containing a separate shower and whirlpool tub. The view was of the main street and the water, it was incredible. Everything was comfortable. The only issues were you have to maneuver around to plug in your phone by the nightstand. Also the whirlpool is pretty slim. When we arrived the bathroom was well stocked, however in the following days we were left with two body washes and no lotion. Both tubes ares green and white so I'm sure it was accidental. Also after the first day we were never left face clothes, I had to call everyday for clothes and one day I called multiple times. It was the evening though so I assume the service staff had gone home. I have traveled often and noticed a lot of countries dont give face clothes but since we had them the first day I assumed we would have them everyday. We really enjoyed the room and the view. I would definitely recommend Le Meridien, Ferdinando, Eric, and Mr. Duncan are all great resources to make your visit memorable. Overall we had a great experience at Le Meridien. All of the staff were polite, super helpful, and went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable birthday for me. We will definitely be returning once rainy season has passed.
Bottom line this hotel is disgusting and Le Meridian and Starwood should be ashamed of themselves. Me and my co-workers were put on the second floor. As soon as the elevator door opens the sour smell from the dirty and musty carpets in the hallway hits you. The carpets look like they haven't been cleaned in years. Once in my room the smell didn't get better. After a while it got worse. Smelled like sewage in my bathroom. The handyman came and assessed my room and told the people at the front desk to move me. I was put in a suite on the 3rd floor. It was nicer but the hotel is in serious need of an update and cleaning. My bath towels had frayed edges! I wouldn't never give that to my own house guest. My co-workers and I will never return.
Stay here for 4 nights and truly enjoyed myself as it was my first solo international trip and my first trip to Panama. Things started off well when I received an courtesy email from the concierge, FERDINANDO VILLALAZ!!! Boy was he helpful in answering questions, following through on request, setting up day trips and arranging airport pick up. I've received emails from concierge prior to check in but never did I have the feeling that someone actually cared! Thank you Ferdinando! I hope you received the envelope I left for you at the front desk. The staff was friendly and attentive. I was greeted my name almost every time I entered the property. The hotel is located close to most things. Only a short Uber ride from most things. (Casco Viejo, Canal) One evening it was raining hard so I stayed in and walked down the street to local restaurants, bars and casino. I was upgraded to a suite with a view which was really nice but the furniture in the livingroom definitely needs to be replaced as the (p)leather couch was badly peeling and furniture was chipped. The carpet outside my door had a big stain. I had read an review where the write thought the hotel was in Vegas due to the wear and tear. I thought the same thing when I saw the room. Not horrendous but they furniture needs to be replaced. Otherwise the suite was spacious and I loved the walk in closet and huge bathroom with the Jacuzzi tub. There was no coffee maker in the room for me to make tea but they did have it in the lobby free for the guest. Overall I would stay here again for sure!
The bottom line is we would stay at the Le Meridien again in a heart beat. We have found Le Meridiens around the world to always give us good value and quality for our money. And we weren't disappointed in Panama City. I saw one person's review found the pool deck had cigarette butts.Having never used a pool at a hotel (why waste our time in a beautiful foreign city at a swimming pool) I can't attest to the pool or its area. But all other public and private areas we used during our stay were very clean and inviting. We really appreciated the staff at the PC Le Meridien. They were always friendly and exceptionally helpful in getting us transportation, recommending places to visit and making reservations at some of the best restaurants PC has to offer.
After having spent 3 weeks in Peru on the Delfin II and at some of the finest hotels in Lima and Cusco, we capped our trip by visiting Panama City. My travel agent had recommended Le Meridien's Gold Suite as the place to stay. What a wonderful experience, great location, wonderful views, the biggest and best bathroom in all of South America. We were on the fifth floor in #519 and went up to the sixth floor, which is open, every night to enjoy the ocean and city views and to take pictures. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, but Ferdinando Villalaz, the Concierge was exceptional. He provided drivers for all of our excursions, suggested and made reservations for all of our meals including some within walking distance, and finally got us to the airport at 4:00 AM on our last day. We will definitely stay here again
This is a perfectly located very nice hotel with an excellent staff. We were welcomed by a very pleasant and friendly desk staff and given a large room with a great view. The bathrooms are a bit weird with a glass wall and door that limit privacy. The only complaint with the room was the lack of a coffee pot - very unusual for a high-end hotel. The bar area is very nice, and there was a plentiful buffet breakfast. This is far from the best hotel in the Bern chain but is a quality establishment. The social area is large and well maintained. If you are planning more than one night, I would suggest The Miramar (another Bern facility) which is across the road and has a phenomenal pool area. For one night, Le Meridian was a nice get-away!
Le Meridien bills itself as a luxury hotel but it isn't. The pool deck is littered with cigarette butts and bird do covered the the railings. The pool toilets had no toilet paper, no hand soap or paper towel. The front desk receptionist didn't know the hotel's phone number or the location of their business centre. Our room had a nice water view but dirty windows. At 4 pm one day our room still hadn't been cleaned.
As a solo traveler, one of my reasons for choosing a hotel when traveling, my safety, specially in my hotel. Le Meridien offered that, location and personnel wise. The property is very clean, centrally located, in a very safe area of the city. Most cites are close, either by walking or a short taxi drive. Everyone at the hotel is very professional, discrete, and friendly. And, always looking after you, a very good feeling if you travel solo. One person I would like to also give 5 Stars, is Ferdinando Villalaz, Concierge. Starting with his prompt response to my last minute requests email. Ferdinando, sent me a well planned list of options and activities to choose from, for my stay. When I checked in, he had already communicated to the front desk about my arrival. His recommendations for dinner, transportation, and tours were on the spot. As I told him, he is in the right spot. You can feel that Ferdinando loves what he does, and thrives when assisting, and helping his guests. He also, seeks feedback from tbem, which is a sign that he wants to provide excellent service. I would come back to this hotel.
