we were on a fly past en route to Portugal so it really was a bed for the night but the staff were great, the rooms clean and we were in walking distance of the main square where we had a great dinner at Café Iruna. All good.
We arrived at the hotel to find some temporary parking outside so you can check. Receptionist was excellent. We booked private parking which was close and very secure. Room was spotless and a good size. For the money can not fault it very central
Stayed at this hotel because of its close proximity to the San Fermin Festival. Room was on the small side. Check in was fast and they offered parking which was key. Only 10 channels on the TV worked. The others were audio only with no visual. The big problem was the bathroom which is very close to the room. When I showered, the entire bathroom floor flooded each time from the shower water. It was awful. The floor was wet the entire two day stay. They need to get that figured out. I'll stay somewhere else next time.
We stayed in a spacious, clean three bedroom apartment just around the corner from the hotel (owned and operated by Hotel Avenida). Good location just outside of the busy central Pamplona. Just a short walk to all the tapas bars and restaurants. We preferred this quieter location so as to have a good night's sleep. The apartment also had a huge lounge area plus two large bathrooms and slept six. Very well equipped with a washing machine in the kitchen as well. Located on the second floor with a lift. Reception staff at the hotel very friendly and helpful.
Love love love Pamplona and Hotel Avenida was a great stay for a great price. Room very tastefully done, recently decorated. Strange orange glow in the bathroom from the fire exit light was interesting... Bed very comfy, very pleasant. Yes there is a bit of noise from the road but... it's on a main road so is to be expected and that comes hand in hand with its proximity to lots of lovely cafe's and shops. Corte Ingles big shopping centre a very short walk and this is literally 2 mins walk from the main bus station which is fantastic in terms of connectivity. One receptionist was fantastic (female, long straight hair) really friendly, the other one with frizzy hair was mostly interested in doing anything but giving good service. As you have to seem to wait an age to get your room key when you're going to/from the hotel they could do with revisiting that policy as if receptionist is on the phone you can lose a good 10 minutes to just standing about like a lemon hoping to get into your room. Wifi was pretty good and again very clean and pleasant stay. Would happily go again.
We stayed at the Hotel Avenida after a three day hike along the Camino from St. Jean Pied de Port. We spent two nights at the hotel and it was a very comfortable experience despite the hotel being under full construction. The hostess was very helpful and helped us with parking nearby, which allowed us to park our rental car in the parking lot under the Plaza del Castillo while we took a bus to St. Jean and hiked back. The breakfast included in the room price was superb, though the coffee could use some improvement. The rooms are modern, clean and very comfortable. The sink and bidet plugs are push and do not have a leaver. This alarmed me when using the bidet, but I fortunately found out about this before it overflowed.
What a shame, I would have given this hotel 4 stars if not for the terrible noise keeping us awake. Nice rooms, convenient location, fridge and safe in room, public parking nearby (in the streets free on Sunday), an ok breakfast (though if not included in your room, I wouldn't sign up for it). BUT the walls are paperthin and not soundproofed at all. And I am not talking traffic noises or the emptying of trash (glass containers right under our window) in the middle of the night. Nor am I overly critical of the construction work in the aisles of our floor until 11.30 pm or house keeping starting to vacuum at 6.30 am. No, I am talking about the neighbours watching TV until 2.30 AM, with their TV blasting on the wall where our headrest was. You could hear everything! The night clerk just said that it was next door, so there was nothing he could do. Well, how about going over and asking the neighbours nicely to keep it down? Anyhow, my impression is that this hotel doesn't really care much about the good nights sleep of their guests. Maybe investing in some insulation might do some good...
Stayed for 2 nights as a rest from the Camino walk and it was perfect! The apartment was clean with new facilities, full equipped kitchen and a balcony looking over the happening street! although the "double beds" in both rooms were in fact 2 king singles they were comfortable enough to sleep on. The location fantastic with weekend markets right at your door and plenty of coffee, drinks and dining options! would recommend anyone for a stop over or permanent
First, we stayed in the apartments around the corner from the front desk (couldn't find them on tripadvisor, but worth looking for, even if it's calling them directly). Location is ideal, close enough to the city center (Plaza de Castillo, bullring, la Ciudadela, etc.) yet also to get to/from (even during the crowds of San Fermin, and even with a car from "the back side") that it would be hard to imagine any more overall convenient location. The young lady at the front desk was super helpful, especially given my "American's" Spanish fluency. She reminded me of any of a number of members of my family. Extremely good-humored and welcoming. Charmed my family. I would recommend this to anybody. Relatively minor inconvenience in the grand scheme, but the WiFi was very spotty in our apartment, though we were able to use our portable devices to access WiFi in the restaurant/dining area.
Room had classy decor, beds and pillows really comfortable; bathroom lovely. Big patio (great for drying!), but noise of traffic below. Only trouble was when the window was open, the sound of the traffic was too loud. If you wish to use the AC and keep the window closed, might not be such a problem. The corridors had a gloomier look about them, but once inside, lovely.
