1) This hotel cannot be passed off as a 4 star. Its more like a 3 star category. 2) Pictures do not justify the real rooms. In pics it feels cozy and comfortable, in reality it is not very comfortable. It feels very old (not in a charming way). 3) Bed (mattress and the blanket) were not comfortable. Even 3 stars have more comfortable bedding. 4) The person in the reception did not understand English. It was quite hard to communicate. 5) A lot of noise on the streets at night. Overall, an okay experience. This is by no means a 4 star hotel.
I liked the hotel for the nice staff and very good breakfast. Several types of cake, croissant, local cheese. Rooms clean, wifi very good. Area not so nice. Extremely noisy outside on a Friday/Saturday night.
We were moved from Garibaldi hotel that we booked and where we stayed in our first part of trip to Sicily. Actually we stayed heredity for one (last) night. Garibaldi is better positioned in more lovely surrounding. Vecchio borgo is ok, nice and charmy hotel. Very close to city Centar, only 5-7mins walking. Room is a little bit smaller than in Garibaldi, breakfast place is nice and bigger. I can recommend this to tourist who want to see Palermo.
We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is well situated to visit Palermo on foot. We got a parking spot in front of the hotel. The room was really tiny although we had booked a superior room. The bathroom was nice though. We asked for a room at the back of the hotel and we slept well. Buffet breakfast was nice. We had everything we needed.
We enjoyed our 10 days stay at this hotel, staff was very friendly, the breakfast was way better than what we expect from an Italian hotel, the price was affordable, the room was clean and the city centre is in walking distance. Parking was available for 12 euros per day and we had a rented car, that only my husband was supposed drive, and we had to hand our car over to the hotel staff for parking, still we were happy to find a hotel with parking in the city centre. Some drawbacks were, funghus on the shower ceiling and the short scary looking street in front of the hotel, you pass to get to the centre. All in all it was a good price/value hotel. But if you want perfect go for a more expensive one.
Lovely helpful staff, really nice rooms, less than 10min walk to edge of old city. Good breakfast. Really useful parking worth extra 12€. Bit down at heel around hotel but nothing to worry about. Close to good restaurants, staff will book things for you. Represents v good value for money.
We stayed at this hotel as part of our tour of Sicily, the room was small (although bathroom was of a good size). The layout of the room was not done to its best, with the tv on top of the fridge but it was at an awkward angle. Even though it was rated 4 star, we thought it was more of a 3star rated hotel. The location was good for the sights as we did a walking tour to the main sights and to restaurants. Ok to stay at for 1 night but not sure I would stay for longer with the awkward layout. Decent breakfast with plenty of choice.
We stayed 4 nights from 28/10.This is an excellent base to explore Palermo..five minutes walk away from the main Politeama square. As mentioned in previous reviews , yes it's in a run down area and yes it gets noisy outside at night......but please look beyond that , turn a corner and you'll see something beautiful....the atmosphere at night is not like UK...no fighting , aggression or drunkenness. The only problem we had at the hotel was our key card didn't work properly , but this was solved within 10 minutes. The guys and girl on the reception were extremely polite and helpful.....even let us stay on in room up to 5pm on check out day! Our room was on 6th floor , with great views over the city...bed very comfortable , plenty of storage and lovely sunny bathroom and good wifi.Breakfast was great...served between 7 and 10am...especially the delicious cakes and pastries..very naughty! You can ask the waiter for espresso or cappuccino , however , the coffee in the machine was decent enough. We found it was best to get down to breakfast before 9 as it got very busy and only 1 waiter on duty .All in all we thourougly enjoyed our stay in Palermo , and would definitely recommend this hotel...we intend to return next year.
We booked with Artemisia Palace Hotel well in advance but due to a error on their part we were placed in Hotel Vecchio Borgo for a night. Upon our arrival we were greeted by poor customer service by the front desk clerk. We asked where would be the best place to exchange money being that we arrived on a Saturday afternoon and all banks were closed. He told us the post office and that they closed at 6pm. We were then given incorrect directions and when we did locate it we found out it was closed since 12pm! When we arrived back at the hotel a different front desk clerk was working and he told us we could exchange money at the hotel for no fee! The room decor is outdated. The mattress was hard, pillows were flat and the shower was tiny. The hotel does not have a single iron available for guests. Downstairs from the hotel is an area where hundreds of young people party on the streets - drinking, smoking, blasting music, etc.. The party ends around 2 am and the clean up begins at 5 am. All you hear is hundreds of bottles being collected. It's so loud it wakes you up. On a positive note the room was clean and breakfast service was good.
Wonderful people run this hotel - from the people at the desk to the lovely young later who puts together your customized coffee. Knowledgeable and freindly. The desire to do a superior job. Many thanks.
