Hotel Florio Operà3.0 out of 5.0

Do NOT believe the pictures you see of this hotel on line as they are not a true representation. Do NOT, repeat, do NOT stay at the Hotel Florio Opera! The hotel is dark, filthy, and grossly over priced. Checked in to the hotel to find black mold in the shower, bare light bulb in bathroom, no soap, paint peeling from the walls, obscured glass windows, mini bar with nothing in it as it didn't work, and horrible smell of air fresheners to cover up the dust and stale orders. The furniture in the room was so dirty that I wouldn't sit on it. Tried to refuse the room but was charged nearly $1000 to leave. In my 40 years of travel, I've never seen anything as bad. It is not old and charming, it is simply disgusting.
The location is very good, with easy access to the centre of Palermo, and surprisingly quiet. The room was clean and well-decorated. The staff was very kind and welcoming, and breakfast was fine. The wifi was so weak that we never managed to use it for anything, though.
hospitality was very good. Rooms were clean, breakfast was very delicious and the staff was friendly. Hotspots (like Teatro Massimo and Politeama) were nearby. This hotel made our stay in this beautiful city perfect! Thanks!
If going to visit Palermo, you should defenetly stay at this hotel. Staff was very friendly, the hotel is on the center of town ( very good location) close also to all the shoping ( if that is what you want). Also very important- they have their own seccured parking! Enjoy!
Great location, but the hotel itself has seen much better days. The room was rather shabby with worn furnitury and smelled like it used to be a smoking room for years. No door in the shower cubicle. Internet connection did not work. On the plus side, in addition to location - very friendly and helpful staff, parking.
Stayed here after having to relocate from Alcamo. Lovely little hotel with incredibly helpful people. Breakfast and bar service and a good location. The bed left a bit to be desired, and it was noisy outside in the morning, but still a nice little hotel. Parking too so the car was safe.
The staff were so helpful and pleasant and did their very best to make our stay memorable . Rooms were clean and spacious . Maybe in need of some investment but value for money. Nothing was too much trouble when we required assistance with local police because if an unfortunate incident . I would recommend this hotel and would definitely return.
This hotel was recommended. Had to settle quickly because there was no time to search for other options. The room smelled stuffy. Surely the curtains were dusty. The window shutter was broken and stuck open. The window opens into an internal yard. Hanging from the window there are pots with dry dead plants and full of cigarette bits. The shower tiles black with mould. I started to get a cough on entering the room. Had a look beneath the bed and was covered with dust. Once had to ask for bed linen to be changed. At times even had to ask for towels and soap. Breakfast is poorly really as if one does not go early, nothing is replaced and there was no option but eat what was left. The sandwiches are already prepared with ham and cheese. So no option for those who for a reason or other wish to have an alternative. The staff though are really lovely except the cleaner. Attention of the receptionist had to be drawn because of the hygiene issue. The rest of the stay we were approached with nasty facial expressions from the maid, because she was made aware of the importance of hygiene. All in all this hotel is far too expensive when compared with other options in town.
The only GOOD thing about this Hotel were the STUDENTS studying in the hotel business they were very helpful, kind, and always with a smile on their face. THE BAD Go early for breakfast because nothing is replaced. Sandwiches are prepared with ham and cheese before hand whether you like chesse or ham or perhaps you only want butter. Cleanliness We complained with management that the room was not being cleaned properly. Bathroom full of black mould around tiles. MINI bar was never replanished We had to ask after 5 days for our bed linen to be changed THERE ARE FAR CHEAPER HOTELS WITH BETTER SERVICE
I stayed here 3 nights and from the moment I arrived the front desk receptionists greeted me with a warm smile, and from the housekeeping staff up to GM everybody made me feel special with excelent service and friendly manners. Thank you for making my short stay in Palermo feel like a home away from home!
