Great stay in a classic older hotel. Perfect location for tourist but not car friendly. Lavish lobby and common rooms with high ceilings, marble and crystal chandeliers. Elaborate breakfast buffet. As is typical for European hotels, the rooms are small.
We recently stayed at the Eurostars Centrale with three other couples. It is located in the central of the old city and one can walk everywhere. The front desk staff is very helpful and informative and the roof top bar is hosted by an efficient gentleman named Roberto. All of the couple were assigned rooms on the first floor. Our room was fine but the other three asked to be moved and were reassigned rooms on higher floors. Stay away from room 104. The morning breakfast was not worth the 13 Euros so go out. Everything is close. We enjoyed exploring the city. We used the Hop-on Hop-off bus to figure out where we wanted to explore further. Bring your own wash cloths.
Excellent hotel in the center of the city. Mateo at the front desk was very welcoming and offered to drive our car (gladly accepted) up the extremely narrow alley to get to their parking garage. This is a former Baron's piazza and the rooms are large with high ceilings and comfortable and most seem to have a terrace. Breakfast was excellent as was the restaurant dining room on the top floor.
We spent three nights at this hotel and many of out group moved room. We were one if them. The first room was on the first floor, sub terrainean and had a rising damp issue. The air conditioning did not work and the whole corridor smelt damp. The front desk got the maintenance man to us to fix the airconditioning really quickly but this did not help with the overall damp smell. We had a manager come to the room to confirm an issue before we could move rooms. The soonest we could change rooms was the next day due to the hotel being busy. Overall the front desk staff were all right but as a family we didn't feel that the hotel was a 4 star hotel. Of our tour, all our group, our whole corridor asked to be moved from the first floor. The lifts are all up a flight of stairs and despite disabled bathrooms being available in rooms doubt a wheelchair user could get to them by any access I saw. There was no garden space but a roof terrace with a bar that did not serve drinks of any sort before 1700. Location of the hotel is brilliant and close to the cathedral and many restaurants. Breakfast was of a good variety with hot and cold foods dinner was also quite nice.
We were blown away by the building and then a little disappointed with our room. It was our first trip to Sicily so we asked if we could move to a room with a view. Although the hotel was very busy, our request was dealt with politely. Not only did our new room have a view and balcony overlooking the Via Vittorio Emanuel, but the housekeeper arranged for the twin beds to be made up into a double and our luggage was waiting for us when we came back from our sortie into town. Lovely hotel. Attentive staff. Perfect holiday.
Very pleasant hotel. Staff welcoming and courteous. Spoke competent English - useful as I have no Italian. Staff were also able to switch our room on second day so that we had a balcony overlooking main street. Hotel is very central for local attractions. Easy walks to restaurants, bars etc. Hotel is old-style with elegant features like chandeliers and marble staircases. Spotlessly clean. Some features in room could be upgraded - eg air conditioning was a bit noisy. We had an excellent holiday.
Great location to explore Palermo but hotel just average. Right on main walking street to explore all Palermo has to see. Hotel services are just OK. Room was clean and large but shower difficult to enter as it was raised very high, the shower head was adjustable but it was broken in a very low spot so taking a shower was difficult. Room door was difficult to open and required jiggling key to try to get the lock open. Requested extra towels three times to get it once.
We returned to Eurostars Centrale Palace because we had such a wonderful experience here last year. It is centrally located in the heart of Palermo's historic center. It is a 350 year old building, elegantly restored. The staff is lovely and very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Our room was large and the bathroom was spacious. The breakfast room is beautiful, and the buffet had everything you could think of: hot and cold selections, meats, cheeses
The Eurostars hotel is in the heart of the old town, an old Palazzo building that has the grace and style that one cannot find easily anymore. The hotel instructions of how to get there that we received by email indicating an easy approach through the city were wrong but thanks to the car GPS we managed to get there. One needs to have the booking details on hand as access to the street is controlled by Police and you need to show the booking to get through. To park in the hotel carpark you need again to have prearranged this but the hotel does not provide for valet parking, a great pity, as getting into the carpark is difficult, through a narrow side street, and we, having a large car by Italian standards, proved to be difficult and as a result we managed to scratch the car. The room of an older style was of reasonable size looking into a narrow quite side alley and the facilities and bathroom were good. Breakfast was on the second floor in a large area of interconnected rooms, richly decorated with tables covered with white tablecloths and good quality cutlery. The food was plentiful but with a focus on sweets, as many Italian establishments tend to offer. Coffee was from an automatic machine and that was a disappointment, although the coffee was OK (the only one with automatic coffee machine out of the five hotels that we stayed in Sicily). The hotel’s central location was a great advantage as it provided us with easy access to some of the main attractions such as the Duomo, Norman Palace, Opera House, and many restaurants of varying standards were available in close proximity. This is a great hotel in a good location, but if one was to come with their own car they will need to be prepared with the access issues of getting there.
This hotel has style. It has a grand breakfast room, lovely decor all around and nice terrace for evening drinks. The room was large, bed comfy and staff excellent. Yes, it is a bit gloomy, because of proximity of adjoining buildings, but you get that in many hotels in old cities. The breakfast was excellent, in a lovely room. The barman on the roof terrace was very helpful. The two problems we encountered was lack of signage re lifts as there were three or four and knowing which was best for where we wanted to go...but minor problem. The second was having to check in at same time as very bug group of rude, ignorant tourists. Otherwise a delight to stay in such a nice old building so handy for sights and station.
