Unfortunately, this hotel has only 1 redeeming feature and that is its position. In all other respects it was a forgetful hotel stay. If driving there as we did, the only way to drive up to the hotel to offload luggage is to to do so illegally. The room did not have even one TV English speaking station. The room safe did not work and though management said it would be fixed the next morning, at the end of our 3 night stay it was never attended. The breakfast was forgetful. The room itself was depressing. Give this a big miss.
Our stay at Central Palace Hotel was very satisfactory. The room and the Hotel was very good. The location of the Hotel is great. Parking was difficult. You must reserve from the hotel in advance if you are comming with your car. Breakfast was good. Restaurants in nearby Square are great.
situated close to Quattro Canti this former palace could not be better located to see the sites of Palermo. Converted from a former 18th century palace into a very comfortable hotel. with large bedrooms and a gorgeous breakfast room with mountains of appetising food. The terrace bar is is run by a very knowledgeable and multi-lingual barman called Roberto . So if you don't want to eat in the lovely restaurant above him he will recommend a family trattoria close by. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in this fascinating and earthy city. I have read another review by a trip advisor member and do think the only chink in what would be a perfect stay is the restaurant staff. We asked for a table but had not booked and was told we could not eat until 9-30 despite the covered part of the restaurant being completely empty. We complained to the reception and the following night the whole restaurant was open! That is the reason we have given it a star less!
This was a fine old hotel (was a palace as I'm sure you're aware), in an excellent location. Unfortunately our entire experience was marred by coming into contact with the rudest restaurant manager I have ever come across any where in the world. One lovely evening we thought it would be nice to have a drink on the roof which overlooks Palermo. The bar however was not in the sun and we thought that as the restaurant was empty we may be able to sit outside on the restaurant's roof terrace (in the sun) and have a drink there. How wrong we were. When we tried to gain access to the roof terrace through the restaurant the door appeared to be locked, even though there was, what appeared to be a guest outside on the terrace). The restaurant manager initially ignored our efforts to gain access (having clearly seen us struggling with the door) but eventually came over looking extremely cross. When we explained that we were guests and wondered if we could have a drink outside he snapped back in the most aggressive manner I've ever been spoken to by a member of hotel staff any where...ever. 'This is a restaurant - not a bar'. Needless to say we went straight down stairs to complain to the hotel manager who was very apologetic. The manager even deducted €20 from our final bill as way of apology. We didn't care about a reduction. We just didn't appreciate being spoken to like naughty children at this ripe old age. Wouldn't return to this hotel. There are better places in this lovely city. By the way...if you're driving, my advice would be...don't!
We stayed for several days at Eurostar Palermo. It was centrally located in the older part of Palermo. Staff were very friendly and despite problems with air conditioning/heating were very accomodating. The parking can be a problem. Plan ahead and tell the hotel you need parking. The morning buffet is quite substantial and good. Not elegant but satisfactory. We were happy with it.
Loved the wide streets in Palermo but still had to take a narrow alley to get to the hotel which was a little stressful. We paid for parking at their garage and unfortunately, there is no staff available to park your car. That was another narrow alley to maneuver in and we scratched our rental car, backing up to make the turn into the alley! We got parking assistance in other hotels in Sicily and found this frustrating. Breakfast was good with lots of options and the room was spacious! The hotel was filled with antiques, had beautiful tiled floors, period paintings and lovely lights in the public areas.Location was great to walk to many historical sites, restaurants, museums, gardens, shops and the markets. Staff at the front desk did not make much of an effort to deal with us in the evening. Just didn't seem to be in any hurry to help at times. We found other staff were very helpful in the hotel though.
My wife and daughter stayed here for 5 nights recently. The hotel is well positioned in the centre of Palermo with pedestrian streets around it. The rooms were lovely and very clean. The food was excellent and the roof terrace was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a drink. The staff were very friendly and helped with advice on visits. There could be more information about places to visit in the hotel. All in all it was a very good hotel to stay in.
It's ok, it's well located, but a discerning traveler will find it disappointing in too many ways. No bellman, no doorman, no concierge, few amenities in the bathroom, etc. Your car or taxi may not be able to pull in front of the hotel, so you'll be lugging your bags
Location is excellent for exploring central Palermo. Rooms to the street are noisy also watch out for rooms under the breakfast room also very noisy. All bathrooms in the rooms we had were in bad shape, loose toilet seat, broken tiles and shower with very low water pressure, hairdryer barely working. Refurbishing the bathrooms would add a lot to comfort. There is a nice rooftop bar. The breakfast is unfortunately not in the rooftop restaurant. Breakfast average at most. Sevice was friendly.
As others have pointed out, the hotel probably could use some updating. Still, for us, this added to its old-world charm. We had a travel snafu and had to book last minute. The hotel staff was courteous and even upgraded us to a large corner room. We did not have a car so parking was not an issue. The hotel's central location was very convenient and they let us keep our luggage in storage pretty much all day and were very nice about it. We would definitely stay here again. With a little imagination, we could picture ourselves as privileged travelers of a bygone era (and who would want to admit to being a privileged traveler in this era)!
