We were dumped in room 115 right next to a massive and viciously noisy access door serving the underground car park next to this hotel. It operated almost continuously from about 5:00am making sleep impossible! It was supposed to be a "superior" room and should have been carpeted - but it was not. There was no independent heating control during the day - the desk told us it was automatic and had to be turned off during the day ! The worst issue is that there were 7 free superior rooms available that night so there was no need to dump us in 115. So "thank you" to the very experienced receptionist ( judging by her obvious maturity) for allocating 115 to two weary travellers in their 60s - ( maybe she thought we were not tech-savvy so could not cause any trouble). We are Accor Members of many years standing but will never use an Accor Hotel again. Breakfast was very good.
Stayed here for 3 nights to visit the city, the best thing about this hotel is the location. Stayed in room 803 which was quite a small room and tatty looking however it had a balcony which was good as we had to sleep with the door wide open due to the stiffling heat in the room. The reception staff said the air con doesn't work during winter months and all they could do was turn off the heating which we agreed would be the best option however they didn't do this for us despite us asking again. I was woken several times through the night by loud banging noises which I believe was the heating/air con unit which was on top of our room and it constantly made a buzzing sound, the reception staff were not very friendly therefore I didn't feel I was able to speak to them about this issue. The safe in the room was temperamental and kept failing, we reported it but nothing was done to fix it. Breakfast was chaos and the "hot" food was cold as was the cappuccino's. We used the hotel as a base to explore the city and as it was so central it served its purpose however if u want somewhere nice to stay with an enjoyable breakfast I would avoid it.
Good location, friendly Staff, good Breakfast, price is ok, clean Room . My experience was great and i will recommend this hotel in Palermo. It is worth because the hotel has an access to everything in the center of palermo
We were relieved to find a room at this hotel after arriving late in the afternoon on New Year's Eve- thankfully Patrizia on the reception desk was very kind and helpful to us, and we were so very grateful. The room was very quiet (despite windows to the street, and being New Years Eve), the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was good. The breakfast was excellent- a superb choice of food.
This was the first location of our Caranni 6N Fantasia Siciliana Tour and was our lodgings for 2 nights and really it was a room to rest and relax on the tour. It was a typical Mercure Hotel that was positioned very well in the centre of the city. Bed was comfortable, room large enough for a couple, staff were polite and helpful and the amenities good for what we expected. We especially enjoyed the balcony on the 1st floor overlooking the side street where we listened to the street talk of the locals. If we re-visit Palermo we would definitely consider staying there again.
It is a few hundred yards from the airport bus stop in Politeama square and in a good position to visit places of interest. Our room was large and comfortable with a sofa and other chairs and a large bathroom to match. Breakfast too was good. There are two internet connections which are a bit on the slow side.
To Australian standards, this was a 3 star hotel at best. The public carpark next door is a converted carpark with a guy that takes your keys as there are so many cars stuffed into the space (beware the carpark closes from 12midday to 8pm on sundays). The air conditioner doesn’t work in winter- literally blasts hot air into the room so we had to sleep with the door open. Everything is clean but not the best maintained. The buffet is small and the tea is great but the coffee is awful. Wifi is fast and works everywhere.
Mercure quality: no question about. The hotel in Palermo is well located, large rooms very clean and confortable, first class service; the breakfast is fantastic. Regarding the price, we took an special offer. Unforgeatable experience.
The location of the hotel is good, close to the old town. So one can easily walk to most sites in the old town. The hotel itself is the average quality standard for the rooms, facilities and breakfast. The reception staff is friendly and helpful. It is close to the airport bus stop at Politeama, about 10 mins walk away. The public bus stops are very near the hotel on the main road Via Roma. The area around it is safe.
We have not yet stayed at the Palermo Mercure Centro, but they have been incredibly helpful with our 2018 booking ! I had booked hotel and flight online through Ryanair (screen shots to prove it), but Ryanair lost the hotel booking. Hours of fruitless on line chats and phone calls proved Ryanair doesn’t care about its customers. I emailed the hotel direct, and had prompt and reassuring “conversations” with Vincenzo then Daniele. Result ? We booked the same accommodation by email direct with Mercure Centro, at only a small amount more than the Ryanair price – and we got friendly, human customer service !!! HOORAH !
