To Australian standards, this was a 3 star hotel at best. The public carpark next door is a converted carpark with a guy that takes your keys as there are so many cars stuffed into the space (beware the carpark closes from 12midday to 8pm on sundays). The air conditioner doesn’t work in winter- literally blasts hot air into the room so we had to sleep with the door open. Everything is clean but not the best maintained. The buffet is small and the tea is great but the coffee is awful. Wifi is fast and works everywhere.
Mercure quality: no question about. The hotel in Palermo is well located, large rooms very clean and confortable, first class service; the breakfast is fantastic. Regarding the price, we took an special offer. Unforgeatable experience.
The location of the hotel is good, close to the old town. So one can easily walk to most sites in the old town. The hotel itself is the average quality standard for the rooms, facilities and breakfast. The reception staff is friendly and helpful. It is close to the airport bus stop at Politeama, about 10 mins walk away. The public bus stops are very near the hotel on the main road Via Roma. The area around it is safe.
We have not yet stayed at the Palermo Mercure Centro, but they have been incredibly helpful with our 2018 booking ! I had booked hotel and flight online through Ryanair (screen shots to prove it), but Ryanair lost the hotel booking. Hours of fruitless on line chats and phone calls proved Ryanair doesn’t care about its customers. I emailed the hotel direct, and had prompt and reassuring “conversations” with Vincenzo then Daniele. Result ? We booked the same accommodation by email direct with Mercure Centro, at only a small amount more than the Ryanair price – and we got friendly, human customer service !!! HOORAH !
The staff is great. Friendly and helpful folks. This place has a great breakfast including make your own cannolli. Everything is fresh. The rooms - we had a cheap room as part of a tour was very nice and clean but not as nice and clean as the upgrade we paid to stay an extra day. That was huge. Beds were soft. Do not expect a view. Do expect proximity to some great restaurants. and within walking distance of some of Palermo's top tourist sites. I'd go there again.
Mercure Palermo Centro is a great hotel for a stay in Palermo. Stylish, clean, spacious lobby and rooms. Great breakfast each morning as well. It is walking distance to most of the attractions in Palermo so it is easy to get around. The room was quiet and the bed comfortable so I had great sleep.
I stayed at the Mercure Palermo Centro right after staying in Sofitel Hotel In Warsaw in Poland. Maybe because of such a big difference in level of comfort, I could not appreciate to full extent the Mercure. Location was good, within walking distance to historical part of town, rooms clean and service quick enough, however there were quite a few problems that were not solved in spite of several attempts, like AC that was not cooling satisfactorily. Staff however was attentive and accommodating and, when after the first out of four nights I complained about a noise coming from the street below, I was moved to a quieter room (bigger too, but again with failing AC). Also, at the time I stayed there, hotel was extremely busy which of course didn't help especially during breakfast time when one needed to wait for instance for a table.
We stayed 2 nights. Great location near a pedestrian area with lots of local restaurants. Also may ATMs close by. Rooms are clean and modern. Staff is helpful and courteous. The breakfast was adequate but geared more to the European tastes. We have stayed at a number of Mercure hotels and they seem to be well run and maintained. Recommended.
We stayed in this lovely hotel for 2 nights, everything was excellent. I just wanted to let all those travellers that there is laundrymat almost next door. You can drop off a bag they will wash and dry for a small cost.
We were joining a Gate 1 tour in Palermo and were pleasantly surprised how generous our room was. It even had a heated-floor in the bathroom! Decor pretty unobtrusive -(View from our room - pretty gritty). Refrig way too small (but, better than nothing). Nice happy-hour treats. Conveniently located in busy (but, not threatening) area. Short walk to a number of nice restaurants. Breakfast - more than adequate with usual meat, cheeses typically found in Europe.
