Mercure Hotel Palermo Centro4.0 out of 5.0

I stayed at the Mercure Palermo Centro right after staying in Sofitel Hotel In Warsaw in Poland. Maybe because of such a big difference in level of comfort, I could not appreciate to full extent the Mercure. Location was good, within walking distance to historical part of town, rooms clean and service quick enough, however there were quite a few problems that were not solved in spite of several attempts, like AC that was not cooling satisfactorily. Staff however was attentive and accommodating and, when after the first out of four nights I complained about a noise coming from the street below, I was moved to a quieter room (bigger too, but again with failing AC). Also, at the time I stayed there, hotel was extremely busy which of course didn't help especially during breakfast time when one needed to wait for instance for a table.
We stayed 2 nights. Great location near a pedestrian area with lots of local restaurants. Also may ATMs close by. Rooms are clean and modern. Staff is helpful and courteous. The breakfast was adequate but geared more to the European tastes. We have stayed at a number of Mercure hotels and they seem to be well run and maintained. Recommended.
We stayed in this lovely hotel for 2 nights, everything was excellent. I just wanted to let all those travellers that there is laundrymat almost next door. You can drop off a bag they will wash and dry for a small cost.
We were joining a Gate 1 tour in Palermo and were pleasantly surprised how generous our room was. It even had a heated-floor in the bathroom! Decor pretty unobtrusive -(View from our room - pretty gritty). Refrig way too small (but, better than nothing). Nice happy-hour treats. Conveniently located in busy (but, not threatening) area. Short walk to a number of nice restaurants. Breakfast - more than adequate with usual meat, cheeses typically found in Europe.
We spent several nights here at the beginning of our trip through sicily and an additional night when we returned from Malta before flying out. Both times we were very pleased with the service, the friendliness of the people at the front desk, the cleanliness of the hotel and the rooms and the very efficient and tasty options at breakfast. Food was freshly prepared and the staff in the dining room were always refreshing anything that ran low. Our first room was a corner room and was a good size. Our second room was small and the bath was extremely small. Both rooms were comfortable and quiet. Our second room was on the top floor and we had a porch area that overlooked the city our to the water. The hotel was in the perfect location for walking just about anywhere in the city of Palermo. Numerous excellent restaurants were in the area as well. Definitely a great place to stay in Palermo.
Stayed here for our final night of our adventure. The hotel staff were really helpful and professional. The room was large and very clean with a great ensuite and fantastic power shower. Breakfast was the best so far fantastic selection and very fresh. Highly recommend it.
Mercure Palermo Centro is a perfect hotel for a city trip. Excellent rooms with a good bathroom. Very helpful staff. Perfect location in the city. Good breakfast so absolutely nothing to complaint about
Communicated with the hotel in advance that this is a birthday celebration trip and they replied that a nice room would be prepared for us. Actually, we booked Superior room with expectation. However, we're being assigned to a 1st floor room with direct facing the other building with awful smell. We told the receptionists and were assigned to another room, but the sound of air conditioner is annoying. It seems that they don't admit the problems and the inconvenience caused to guests at all. Anyway, we were then assigned to 2nd floor room reluctantly, still without any view and noisy, but I'm being told that Superior rooms are all on either 1st or 2nd floor unless we're willing to take standard rooms which are on higher floors. Ridiculous! Their superior room's size is big, but just that. Look at the size of the in room safe and you'll know what I mean. Breakfast is basic and anybody can be there. No staff will greet you or care who you are. The only attractive point is its location is quite central, so it's convenient to explore the city. I'm Accor Club's Silver member, but receive no recognition at all. No birthday greetings or even a word to mention. No question about my stay during check out. Absolutely, a disappointed stay!
As a solo traveler I arrived a day early for my tour and was given a room that could generously be described a nice sized walk in closet. The one window in the room was partially blocked by furniture. I was expected to keep that room for the duration of my stay. When I complained I was initially told that the room was the accommodation that I had paid for. To the desk Clerk's credit she assigned me to a very spacious room the next day. I was very appreciative of her proactive behavior, The staff at the hotel were very service oriented and courteous My problem is with the poor business practices of the hotel that would permit this walk in closet to be classified as lodging. I wish I had read a previous review on this site that voiced the same complaint about this hotel before booking my trip. It was the worse room I have ever experienced and that included my stay with families on study abroad programs.
Stayed here with group of 25+ people clean friendly and efficient. Nice central location to sight seeing and shopping and of course the resturants. Wifi works good, rooms are spacious and comfortable.
