Quality Airport Hotel Gardermoen3.5 out of 5.0

I only needed a place to stay for a 12-hr layover, and this was so much better than the hassle of getting into downtown Oslo, even with a hotel under construction. The airport bus stops right across the streeet, the restaurant seemed to have endless good food and drinks, staff were very helpful about everything (they even let me raid the breakfast area before it opened when I had to go early to the airport), the room was very comfortable and nicely decorated, the shower was hot and had great water pressure. I'd stay here again.
The hotel is undergoing renovation but this inconvenience is far eclipsed by the amazing staff they have working there. The free popcorn and ice cream helps too! My one gripe was that my room on the top floor was a bit too warm at times.
The hotel is very nice and similar to other choice hotels in Norway but this hotel has a great selection of treats in the lobby that were really good and free. Ice cream and toppings, popcorn, cakes, fruit, etc...I didn't need to get a meal which made me happy.
I am a frequent hotel guest with 4-5 nights per month. The majority of them are spent in the Quality Hotel chain. I am usually very pleased with this chain. Not thanks to hotels like this. Although brand new and newer wings being added the Hotel already feels old. Also gives an unfinished feel even to finished parts. Screws aren’t fastened properly. There was a deep hole under the carpet outside my room where I almost twisted my ankle. We arrived at lunchtime and they served up a buffet for 320 NOK, 300 NOK for guests. We felt it a little expensive so we passed. We received no benefits from being Gold members in the chain. No newspaper, no vouchers and no room upgrades. The room is small but not too small for one or two persons if you are only staying overnight. There is a constant hizzing sound from the ventilation in the toilet and a constant buzzing sound from a generator or ac outside the window. The view by the way is over scaffolding. The TV doesn’t turn and can only be viewed from the bed. There is a desk but no pen or paper to write on. No hotel information other than what is on the infochannel. The bed is ok for me 95 kg, but may feel too hard for lighter persons. We are thinking about trying the ala carte tonight. Depending on the price...
Hotel was booked online, no indication that the hotel was more or less a construction site. Only small part of the hotel was open. Breakfast, bar and reception worked as one, which led to long waiting time to check out and check in. You don't need any alarm to wake up, 06:45 they started to drill in the wall.... Even with all this non-working parts they charge full price for the room.
The food in the restaurant was not tasty, overcooked and not warm enough. The whole hotel was under construction so it was a bit unpleasant overall, only the room was ok. Service was good and it has a good connection with the airport.
Excellent staff, very good breakfast ( staff even helped me to hv hot milk for my daughter by providing microwave), highly recommend. Our stay was v comfortable. Person at d reception was really so helpful n kind. Service was super. Very near to the Oslo Airport.
The plan was to arrive at 11pm at the airport, get the shuttle bus to the hotel (70 NOK each way, 10 mins there and 20 mins back) and take my next flight at 8am. My flight was delayed and I only got out of Gardermoen at 1:30am... the last shuttle is just after midnight although there are shuttles to other hotels in a different direction. Called for the cheapest taxi option. Wasn't there after 20 minutes. Another taxi driver said he'd do it for the same price (already had a passenger) but charged it on the meter and it was 50 NOK extra, so I arrived at 2:30am, 370 NOK lighter. A bit hard to find my way around due to all the construction but the one staff member was nice, helpful and attentive even at that time. Room itself was fine - no evidence of construction work on my corridor. Breakfast looked decent but I skipped it in favour of sleep. The bus back to the airport came as planned and was on time. All in all, the hotel was decent - discounted I think because of the construction - but it's 7km away from the airport at a highway junction which means that it's not so ideal if anything goes wrong. (e.g. Don't miss the shuttle!)
The hotel is close to Oslo Airport. You can reach it best with the shuttle bus. This bus also takes guests from other hotels to the airport every 30 minutes. Otherwise one can at the front desk also a taxi order over a tablet. Next to the hotel is a gas station and a Deli de Luca. The second building of the hotel is being built. Unfortunately, I have found in advance no references to a construction site. BUT: We heard in the room hardly any noise from traffic (highway) and construction site. Hygiene: ok - clean and tidy, a few hair were found however Plus: nice, large bathroom with bathtub. Facilities: large beds and TV, storage facilities + own iron and ironing board In the hallways there are carpets that swallow the sounds. You hardly hear anything from your neighbors. Breakfast: We could eat already at 4h, a rich selection! Unfortunately, the bus shuttle from the airport arrived late - but thanks to the staff at all. We made it to the plane in time.
The hotel should be closed during construction. We were told that construction would be finish in Spring 2018. The menu was very basic and extremely limited. A disasterous ending to a 2 1/2 week wonderful Norway visit.
