Very nice hotel with super friendly and helpful staff. Great location

Convenience location, large room and good view. Breakfast is not included and price is slightly high.

Location is perfect, 5 minutes walking from 2 major metro stations, and 10 minutes walking from Osaka Castle. Very nice hotel. Will stay again.

This is a great hotel , best service and best staffs.

This high-end hotel strives for perfection and falls short only in a few areas that are important if you are a stranger to Osaka or to Japan. Getting to and from Kansai International Airport is not visitor friendly and left us puzzled by the lack of direct service (i.e. You would think that frequent, non-stop, high-speed service to Kansai would be mutually feasible.) Instead, you have a puzzling labyrinth of train lines and limos, all of which demand intellectual energy to navigate. Much is "lost in translation" just figuring it all out. Travel advice on the web is also somewhat contradictory, if not oversimplified. Precious time is lost in the end. I would recommend that New Otani (and other hotels) learn ways to arrange for local transportation and also communicate in advance with their foreign guests of options on their arrival and departure. This is the only reason we do not want to return to Osaka. Surely, the Osaka area hotels can appreciate the upside to trouble free travel to and from the airport.

This hotel offers attractive price, but it is not five star hotel level at all. The facility is way too old, and the room is extremely small. I would give 3.5 star rating.

Room is large enough. Nice view and free internet I could have. It's good to walk to Osaka Castle in the morning.

PROS: We stayed in this hotel for a few nights and the view was awesome. It was the best thing about the room! Located across from Osaka castle and close to a train station and a subway station. We booked a castle view room and would recommend that anyone staying here to do the same thing. The lobby was very large and pretty. There were four floors of amenities... mostly posh shops and a painting gallery along with concierge and new otani club, a piano, several (expensive) restaurants, conference room, a pool, and a buffet. There was also a money exchange machine that was available for use 24/7. Room service and laundry service was also available. There was a train station AND a subway station nearby, both were about a 5 minute walk. There were plenty of taxis waiting downstairs as well, if you want to take one of those. There was also a airport shuttle that was inexpensive (about $15USD per person one way) to Osaka kansai International. This was very convenient since the airport was about an hour away and we didn't want to take trains there with our baggage. There were also shopping centers close by. There were plenty of other restaurants to go to besides the hotel ones (which were expensive). And there were quite a few convenience stores nearby. CONS: I would have given this place 4 stars BUT the reason why I gave it 3 was because there were a few things that affected the comfort of the room. The first thing was that the a/c was not that cold. We had it on 18C (about 64F) and it never felt that cold. We asked the front desk to take a look at it while we went out and I'm assuming they did but nothing ever happened. Luckily there was ice down the hall so I got some ice to make do. It was the middle of summer and it was very hot outside (something like 91F). We were hoping to cool off inside the room..... The second thing was that the shower water temperature would change throughout the time of a shower. Sometimes the water would do a split second spurt of HOT and then COLD but then go back to normal. But during the duration of the shower, the water was never able to get that HOT except for those times when it spurted some hot water. Overall: This was a good place to stay for a few days, it was a pretty central location. However, its a bit dated and I think they are in need of some upgrading.

Terrific hotel experience. The location of this hotel is perfect, a short walk from a station on the JR Loop Line which makes getting around the area all too easy. It's right on a small river and near the Osaka Castle and park which makes for a terrific view. There are a handful of restaurants on site, albeit a bit pricey, offer a wide range of options. There are a good amount of places to eat in the immediate vicinity to include a Starbucks. The staff is extremely helpful and speak English well. Had an in room massage that was very good and a decent price (~$70 for an hour) - the best part is they are available until 0300. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the cleaning staff was very helpful. Overall, this is a top notch hotel and I would highly recommend this to anyone going to Osaka and will certainly stay there again in the future.

Great room, great amenities and friendly staff. Very clean and quiet as well.

Great location for walking to the Osaka Castle. However a bit far from the rest of the main attractions but JR and Metro stations not far from the hotel. Would recommend.

New Otani is a very nice hotel. The location near Osaka Castle is great - wonderful view! Restaurants were great. Convenient to subway and train stops. Only drawback is travel from Kansai airport - inconvenient.

We stayed here after staying at the Conrad Tokyo, which is truly a 5 star hotel. This is a basic 4 star hotel max. Room was very basic but clean and comfortable. The location is not that great. Close to Osaka castle but need to take subway or JR to other main attractions. Subway and JR were nearby, but nothing really within walking distance. So overall, no problems and ok room at a reasonable price. Don't expect luxury.

this hotel is perfect. room is really bigger than hotels. and sttaffs really kind. especially, It's really special price. If I stay at osaka, I'll choice this hotel. What did you do while you were there? sightseeing Was there something missing that would have made your stay more enjoyable? It's very cheap price, so we couldn't see Osaka Castle in our room. How did this compare to previous trips you have taken? this hotel is really bigger than other hotel in Osaka.

I really loved it here. It's such a beautiful hotel. It was like I was staying in a castle...with my window looking out to Osaka Castle. Of course, if you're staying on the other side, you don't have that luxury. It's right next to two subway stations, which makes it really convenient. Most of the staff were fluent in English. All were very respectful and helpful. I didn't care too much about paying for the fitness center and pool, since I don't use those anyways. I did however wish the internet was free. It made it very inconvenient to not be able to map out all my plans accurately. The food was pricey, but that's what I expected staying in a five-star hotel. I liked the choice of Western and Japanese. This will be my hotel of choice for all my stays in Osaka.

Inspirational view of the castle and park! We biked early in the morning around the castle and were absolutely awed by the size of the moat and surrounding walls. This has to be the best possible location in Osaka.

had a relaxing time in the top of the hotel bar with a nice view of Osaka castle

The New Otani is obviously a 4-Star hotel; it is large and spacious with all the modern amenities. The food at the various restaurants was superb, especially their Tenpanyaki with Kobe beef & lobster, as well as the smaller restaurant called Mikan with great service and food.

The view of the Osaka Castle from our room was spectacular! The arrangements for travel was taken care of efficiently and at the lowest possible cost. So much can be seen by walking.
