We stayed here as a typhoon was passing through, but still had a great time. Very spacious rooms with a nice view, and the pool was great, especially for our 2 year old boy. Car parking service is great, friendly staff, decent breakfast. A very pleasurable stay.
Stayed here for 4 nights with the family (2 adults, 2 kids) and everything was organised so attentively. They had setup 4 beds in the room so each of us would have a bed each! The room was equipped with full amenities including full sized hair and body wash (not those useless tiny bottles). There were also makeup remover, toner and face wash, if you had forgotten yours. The view of the beach was amazing and great service. Special mention to the carpark staff who attended to all cars coming in. They always guided us to an available spot, even arranging a buggy to take us to the lobby from the outdoor carpark (indoor was full) when it was raining. The beach is clean, with clear water, only downside is that sand is rough with corals so water shoes are recommended. Kids enjoyed the floating obstacle course on the water. Lifeguards were very attentive, always watching and guiding people and kids to swim safely. Breakfast was ok, can get crowded in the morning with a queue. At night, there’s plenty of restaurants within walking distance or drive out to explore the area. Overall, highly recommend this hotel!
A classy hotel with well furnished rooms of good size and balcony facing full sea view. It’s a pleasure just to stroll around the hotel. Such beauty is unfortunately let down by poor management: 1. Waiting at breakfast. Having waited 30 minutes outside the restaurant, you will be led in to find out 70% of the tables are in fact empty. If the management try to find an excuse by saying tables need to be cleared before guests can be served, they only have themselves to blame for such under staff situation. Breakfast variety and quality are further let downs also. 2. Charging for gym and indoor pool. There’s a charge of 1,000 yen for every 24 hours. Not a big deal but guests are here to relax and enjoy, not to go through all these pay booth hassles. The room rate is not cheap and if the management is so desperate for another 1,500 yen, they can simply build it in the room rate. It will certainly go by much more unnoticed than the big signboard at the doorway on charges.
We booked 3 nights in a Luxury room, and we were given a room on the 4th floor. We asked for a higher floor and were moved up to the 8th floor for the 2nd and 3rd nights. Both rooms were on the garden wing which overlooks the garden and pool area, with the wide expanse of ocean beyond and the Tiger Beach on your right. The room was spacious and clean with a big balcony to sit and enjoy the inspiring ocean view. It felt fairly new (or their maintenance was very good). I loved the comfortable bed (slept very well), and the bathroom! The design of the bathroom is a typical Japanese style with the bathtub next to the wet shower. Toiletries were of pretty good quality, and the water pressure and temperature was perfect (something I'm particular about). There's even an air purifier in the room. Their eco-friendly policy is interesting, where if you opt to not make up your room or just have a light refresh of the room, you get a voucher which can be used at the hotel's various facilities and convenience shop. So, the downside is exactly this - everything is chargeable. The beautiful (and empty) pool cabanas and chairs, beach chairs, gym, parking. Breakfast was great! There's the buffet option and Japanese option. Go for the buffet, they serve all the Japanese food there anyway. Excellent & delicious spread, and for such a large hotel, i never felt that the restaurant was too crowded (i usually went towards the end). Service was very good also. One of the evenings I was having a drink at the lounge, and a huge insect was buzzing next to me. The waitress walked over with a napkin, calmly captured the insect under the table, and politely bowed and excused herself with a smile. It may seem like a small thing, but i appreciated the added effort (she could have simply asked me to change seats and ignored the insect). Onna is a quiet area (relative to Naha) and being in the middle of the main island, a good base to explore Okinawa. I wished I stayed longer here than in Naha. If I come back to Okinawa, I'll definitely stay here again.
Very nice hotel located on a long strip of beach. Where in the morning you can join the hotel yoga activity. The Japanese restaurant is also very good and pleasant. Also the breakfast selection is great. I suppose I can only ask of faster breakfast arrangements and more English speaking staffing.
This place is wonderful! You will find it about 70min from the Naha airport. When we booked the hotel it came with a rental car, but since it’s driving on the left hand side here in Japan we passed, and I believe got an upgrade instead. The beauty of this hotel is that ALL rooms have ocean view!! And waking up and having the ocean smiling back at you is priceless. Love it. The staff here are nice and very attentive. The hotel-breakfast is a buffet and you can choose from a mixed breakfast or just Japanese food. We’ve gone for the mixed. If you want to sleep in, you can convert your breakfast voucher for a smaller lunch buffet instead. This place is just by Tiger Beach and all though it’s not beach season yet, you can still hang out at the beach and take walks and so forth. The rooms are fresh, big beds (!) and the balcony is lovely. The shower is probably one of the best ones (ever), from the temperature in the bathroom, to the shampoo/conditioner/body wash to the tub.. great! But then there is the spa. It consists of a indoor pool, small outside pool and sauna (the bigger outside pools are not opened yet). There is a separate hot bath as well which you can find in the dressing rooms, and there you will also find a Turkish sauna. As for the surroundings, there are restaurants, some small shops and beaches. That’s about it. So if you have a car to get around that’s best as the buses don’t go too often around here. Highly recommend this hotel!
We stayed at the Monterey Hotel fora night. The room was clean and spacious. The view was good. The food was delicious. What else could I ask? How I wish I could stay more days at this lovely hotel! Highly recommend!
Super beautiful resort with professional, warm and friendly staff! We were upgraded to a luxury room which was so amazing, great memories for life! The property is situated right by the beachfront so we managed to stroll the coastline (despite the freezing brisk January wind!). Hotel was tastefully decorated with authentic antique pieces from Europe and even has a gas light museum on the second floor! There are also several quality restaurants on the premises and a convenience store that sells souvenirs and local products. There are also top quality steak restaurants across the street as well, the entire area is walkable, so just get dropped off and enjoy! My wife and I will keep on coming back to this place! It's amazing!
We stayed for two nights at the Hotel Monterey Okinawa Spa and Resort during the Christmas holidays. The resort is located in a quiet beach area away from the hassle and bustle of Naha. Our room was spacious and clean with a spectacular view of the ocean. The room came with breakfast and the hotel offered two options: buffet or Japanese. The buffet breakfast was good but the Japanese breakfast was one of the best dining experience we had in Okinawa. The staff, especially the parking staff, were friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this resort to our friends and family!
As a family holiday resort, Monterey got everything we want- beach just in front of hotel, outdoor and indoor swimming pool, spa, children playroom, restaurants ...etc. The room is spacious and comfortable, with balcony facing the sea, and views of a beautiful chapel as well. Since it was Dec when we came, the outdoor pool area was closed and the beach was also too windy to go. But the hotel was still worth staying compared with its budget room rate in winter. The hotel was more quiet and relax. Enjoyed the Japanese breakfast with a peaceful dining atmosphere. By the way, a renowned restaurant for barbecue meat and some other restaurants are just at doorstep of the hotel.
