While not the most luxurious hotel ever, this was exactly what we wanted - Japan! We stayed in a traditional room with tatami matting and the futon bed was out out for us every night. Yukata (dressing gowns) were provided and it is perfectly acceptable to wear these around the hotel in the evening or to breakfast. Beach was beautiful and pool area clean and well maintained. Plenty of loungers. Options to pay for water sports such as jet skiing. Lovely walks further along the beach and rocks. Wifi in public areas was good. The food was pretty good but did not vary much day to day so after a week we were ready for a change. If you can afford one of the real "luxury" hotels then the rooms are probably bigger and more comfortable and the hotel is probably more visually appealing. For the price, though, this is an excellent hotel and we had a wonderful stay.
We had a great stay, mostly because the view is to die for! The balcony is right above the sea. The hotel has its own beach, but be aware that you won't be able to swim after November 1, even if the weather is good, as they close the swimming season. But it's not a big problem, as you can always find a wild beach within walking distance. The hotel also had a manager who spoke fluent English and helped us with everything. Among disadvantages I would say that breakfast is traditional Japanese so there is not too much to choose from if you prefer European breakfast.
Very, very old hotel, poor maintenance , below standard facilities and service, disgusting smell in room. No towel supply in public bath ( you should bring your own room towel ). No free safe in room ( 100 yen for once , key type just like locker)
The scenery is very beautiful, rooms are very large, but the facilities are very old, no wifi in the rooms, breakfast in general, there is free parking and the staff are friendly, have a coin laundry.
I'll start with the positives - The beach area is beautiful. Really great views from the rooms as well! It's also quite cheap compared to some other options in the same area. However, there is nothing around this hotel. The closest convenient store is a 20 minute walk away and aside from that there is literally nothing. A car is 100% essential if you choose to stay here. The hotel has 3 restaurants however none of them are open during the day. Breakfast finishes at 9am and the restaurants don't open again until 6. So if you'd like to eat something for lunch you have no choice but to leave the hotel. The rooms are quite large, but our room, our whole floor in fact had a very strong smell. I can't even describe it.. But it was not a good smell. All rooms have balconies but no chairs to sit down. All beach activities are at an additional cost. They even charge you for the life jacket they demand you use if you'd like to snorkel in addition to the cost of your mask and snorkel. Sun beds also cost money to sit on. You can only get wifi in the lobby. None in the rooms. And the staff struggled to help us because none of them really spoke English. Overall this hotel is super run down, and not a great option for foreign tourists. One of my worst hotel experiences to date.
The hotel is decent with its own on-sen japanese bath house located in the hotel. The beach was clean and the rooms were cosy. Breakfast was acceptable and service was good. Only set back is that the hotel is located far away from anything. There is no activity to do at the surrounding. Having a car will be much more convenient.
A family friendly relaxing on the beach hotel. Like the centrally location thereby easier while exploring the island. Good foods and service typical in Japan. Many sea related activities especially from April. Kids love it. You need a car. Corridor windows needs polishing
The good parts: Very good value for money, amazing view from the room, as all rooms in the old building look out over the ocean. Decently clean public bath. The beach is pretty nice, with many fish swimming around! Lots to see right there. The staff were helpful, within the limitations of the place. The bad: It smells horrible. Not in our room, fortunately, but the whole rest of the place was stale and musty, with a hint of powerful cleaning chemicals. It's an old building that needs refreshing. Breakfast was really, really, bad. Dinner a bit better, though. Their convenience store downstairs has nothing fresh (just junk-food snacks and cups of instant noodles), so that isn't an option either. Also, no lunch served anywhere in the hotel! There is supposed to be a "beach restaurant" on the ground floor, but it looked more or less permanently closed. The location isn't great if you don't have a car. Maybe fine if you arrive as part of a large tour group that has its own transportation, but otherwise, be prepared for lots of taxi or bus rides to stay fed. No noise from neighboring rooms, but the air conditioner made a lot of noise, and only the fan speed could be adjusted, not the temperature. Also, no internet access available in the rooms (only spotty wi-fi available in the main lobby).
We stayed here twice, once in the annex and then in the main building. The first time the room was nice, large, sea view and quiet. The second time we had reserved an annex room but were moved to the main building due to a typhoon. The room was very bare, constantly smelled of cooking and was dark. So disappointed.
Price is reasonable and the room is clean. I like the balcony very much! You can go to the beach whenever you want, very convenient!
