Escape the hustle and unwind in New Zealand's Okarito Brown Kiwi (Rowi) sanctuary. This spacious and peaceful home is located just 1.5 hours south of Hokitika, 15 minutes drive from Franz Josef Glacier and 10 minutes drive to Okarito beach. It's the ideal base camp to explore the wild West Coast.
With 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 2 lounges and a large open-plan kitchen with dining area, it’s perfect for relaxation. The sunroom (2nd lounge) offers a library and cozy sofa bed for unwinding.
Bedrooms have a Super-King bed with en-suite bathroom and a TV.
Ideal for groups, families and couples to enjoy outdoor activities like Frisbee golf, Croquet, and a selection of board games.
We typically arrange for couples, but can set up King-Single beds on request.
If your group exceeds 6 and you need the sofa bed, please let us know and it can be set up. We accommodate up to 8 guests and provide a cot (crib) and a high chair on request for families with children.
With free Wi-Fi, on-site laundry, and two outdoor patios, plus a unique bush bath for stargazing, the retreat offers everything you need for a peaceful getaway.

A beautiful lifestyle property — very nice, clean, and equipped with high‑quality bedding. The moment we opened the door, we instantly felt the owners’ care for their guests! The location is great too if you prefer to stay close to the town centre without being right in it. Our kids enjoyed the company of the rooster, and there were lots of New Zealand native birds around us, plus plenty of rabbits. Thank you so much!

Excellent property. Part of the great outdoors . In the middle of a Kiwi sanctuary and we heard them at night !! The resident rooster provided great entertainment ! The house is really well appointed with all facilities . Lovely grounds .The kitchen and toilets are great . The bedrooms are awesome . We had a lovely time experience . Away from the world and in very peaceful location along a river . We would love to visit again . Very adequate for us and we were a group of 6 people .
