Big room with big (hard) beds and a tub. Price is ok. The bathroom is horrible. The shower head is messed up and spouts water in every direction. There is no curtain or door to seal off the tub/shower and the shower head can't be moved so when you shower the water goes out of the tub, inundating the floor. Also the toilet doesn't flush propperly and pieces of the ceiling are falling off. If you open the water faucet in the sink all the way it spills water all over the counter top. I almost forgot to mention that nobody told me that the same day I checked in they were having a kids party with a DJ outside my door. In all fairness the party ended at 11:30pm. Would not stay here again if there are other places available, which is why I ended up here in the first place.
Our family stayed in Oaxaca for a total of 11 nights, and for 8 nights we stayed at Casa de las Flores. We had a pleasant experience. The hotel was ideally located for us: short scenic walk to Plaza Santo Domingo, restaurants, shopping, tours, and the Zocalo. We enjoyed spending time on the roof terrace. The staff was helpful and provided good recommendations for sightseeing tours. They also assisted with making reservations for activities we were interested in. We appreciated having bottled water and coffee in our room daily. We will consider staying here again for our next visit to Oaxaca.
It was a lovely hotel, cosy and with a great and friendly service. It is located in the heart of Oaxaca - few steps from the most important and turistic attractions in the city. This last was not a reason to have a really relaxed environment, perfect for a placid days. We are a couple from Belfast, Northern Ireland and we wanted to share our good and thankful opinion about Casa de las Flores, in Oaxaca, Mexico.
we booked this hotel by phone, and had a good feeling because they were very exerted. we booked the hotel for 4 days, with the possibility to stay longer. in our first room the washbasin was blocked so the water did not flow down. in 4 days it was not possible to repair this. after 4 days we decided to stay 3 days longer. as we came to the front desk, they told us that our room is assigned for the next 2 nights but we can take the master suite. we agreed and this was the worst thing we could ever do. the master suite is nice at the first sight but its a total mess. the shower was dirty and we had to call 2 times till they came and cleaned it. we also asked for a second blanket and what we got - a dirty blanket with brown stains WITHOUT a cover. at night we tried to lock up our door but the door lock was out of order. as we tried to wash our hands, the water came out brown. i knew the mexican water pipelines are not the best, but this is just disgusting. i never saw this in any other mexican hotel or restaurant. at day 2 in the master suite we had to check out and go back to our "normal room". at 10.00 am we called the front desk for an iron service. a few min. later they brought us the iron without an ironing board or anything. i had to iron on the bed, but as soon as i inserted the iron the fuse went down and we didn't have anymore electricity. we called the front desk again and the said that they will send someone to fix it. we waited and waited but no one came. my hair were wet form showering and i couldn't even dry it. also we told them that my husband would to shower but he will wait till someone will fix it, but no one came. in the meantime we called the front desk again to switch to our "normal room" but again, nobody came. we called again - but - what a surprise - nobody came. my husband was really angry and went down to the front desk to say that he is not pleased with this service (water brown, blanket dirty, shower dirty, cable hanging from the ceiling, window could not be closed properly, lights are broken, no electricity, the safe didn't work, etc.) and we will not pay the full price for this none-service. the reception boy said that he will call the manager and we went away for a few hours. as we came back and asked for the manager she was not available. also the reception boy was really unkind. he told us, the fuse went down because we were too long in the master suite (over the check out time) but we waited over 2,5 HOURS for someone to came and fix the electricity and bring us to the normal room (we had an appointment with my husbands brother for breakfast and had to delay it 3 times because no one came.) also the front desk board says "one hour tolerance". as we mentioned the "one hour tolerance" he told us that its just for the check in and not for the check out. at the whole time he was very very unfriendly. the point is not the money, its just the service. there was no sorry anywhere, not for the waiting time, not for the not-working-electricity and not for the dirty things. we are really disappointed, don't stay there.
Casa de las Flores is a hotel to book purely because of the location. It does not purport to be some kind of 5 star resort, as some reviewers seem to have been under the misapprehension that it should be. It is a family run place, which offers decent lodgings with a nice roof terrace. It is only a 10 minute walk from the main attractions of Oaxaca, including great restaurants, coffee shops, churches and the zocalo. For a change, exit the hotel, turn right, right, walk 200 yards then left to climb up to the auditorium, with some spectacular views. My only criticism would be that the price is probably 20% too high for the available amenities, but we had a great weekend and would stay there again.
I stayed at this hotel and did the recervation thru them, called directly, until then every thing was perfect, but as soon as we got in to the hotel a complete mess started, and just to make a long story short it was a complete disapointment, if you are traveling with an suv, you are not going to fit in to the garage, if you want clear water to shower or brush your teeth avoid (regular clear nothing special) the water comes out brown, the rooms have this musty smell, and the bead sheets had stains on them (god knows). and when we complained to the manager she didnt even care, and told us that they were other hotels in town, to feel free and leave, but she couldnt refund our money!!! So if you want to have a pleasent time in Oaxaca AVOID THIS "HOTEL" AT ALL COST!!!
We traveled in family to this hotel and was just perfect for us, we booked two rooms, and requested a crib in one of them, when we arrived the room was already set (with crib and everything) and they were considerate enough because the room was downstairs and was bigger than the other one. The parking inside the hotel is big enough but a Minivan would be difficult to park in, nevertheless, the hotel staff "reserved" a parking spot just outside the hotel. It is a few blocks from Santo Domingo, last two blocks uphills - nothing terrible if you are used to walking. We only had breakfast there upon our departure and was really good. Overall a very good modern hotel to stay in Oaxaca.
I traveled to Oaxaca with my Wife, Doughter and Son. Recently biult hotel. three to four years old but dont be fooled. They dont care for the guests comfort and satisfaction. They only want the money. I stayed there for three nights and wouldnt do it again. Youll find stained sheets, security box not working, shower not working properly, dirty towels, reduced paking lot (if driving a SUV you are in trouble) and the worst of all dirty water, brownish color. When I complained to the manager she told me to check out of the Hotel and find another one. I couldnt do it because I had paid in advance for the three nights I she strongly refused to refund me the payment. Be careful NOT TO STAY at this place!!!
I did my booking by calling to the hotel. They took my credit card & security number and I even got an email confirmation from my booking... and when I got to the hotel they said: "we have a problem with my booking".... that was that the guest that was supossed to leave my assigned room, didnt want to leave the room! and they couldnt ask him to leave... I was like: WHAT??? of course they can do it, but they did not want it!! how can you explain that? I had to find a hotel on that weekend, they did not pay anything, and they didnt even apologize!! Next day, on sunday, they called me to tell me that my room was ready, if I wanted to take it. I told them that I was out of Oaxaca but next day on monday, I will be checking out then my current hotel and check in to Casa de Las Flores by Monday late afternoon.... On my way to Oaxaca, I phoned the hotel just to make sure my room was ready and they told me: "Oh, we are sorry, since you didnt show up by 3 pm we gave it to another guest" I was about to kill them! I told them that they made me check out in the other hotel and I told me I was about to arrive late on monday... it was a nightmare... so they did it twice to me!! I can not tolerate this kind of poor service!!!
Hotel first confirmed the booking (through LateRooms.com) then then cancelled the booking arguing that they made surbooking. When I checked a few days later they still proposed rooms through other website. How to trust them ?
