Excellent stay and service at this wonderful hotel, with our Travel Zoo deal. Tracey made us all feel very welcome on our arrival, she told us everything we needed to know about the hotel. The hotel was very comfortable well decorated and clean in all areas. The dining service and food excellent. All staff helpful, ensuring we all enjoyed our time at the Crown Hotel. This is a wonderful place and I would not hesitate to recommend or return. Thank you to all the staff, but especially Tracey. Great little hotel. The Blairs & The Hodgson party rooms 73 74
This is our second stay at this hotel and don't think it will be our last. We enjoyed cake and tea/coffee on arrival then a very good evening meal, plenty of choice and very well cooked and presented well. Breakfast had an unbelievable choice, not seen a bigger choice anywhere and further more it was cooked to perfection. Rooms are in keeping with the style of the hotel ...not ultra modern but comfortable and clean. Although we didn't use the pool it looked very nice. We will be back.
A lovely retreat in the heatwave. Unless you want to nitpick about the odd paintwork damage, or marked carpets, the hotel was a good relaxing place. Rooms not on the large side but comfortable and clean. Staff lovely people, but one barman not very welcoming, or keen to serve outside meant a quiet bar at night. Manageress brilliant.
Would recommend a visit to the Crown if you are visiting Yorkshire. Centrally placed for Harrogate, Ripon, York, Thirsk and the Yorkshire Dales. Friendly staff, good ale, excellent breakfast and a lovely pool and spa bath. The hotel has lots of character and a real change from the modern corporate chain hotels.
Stopping off by chance on the way home from France to Scotland, we looked in to see if there were any vacancies and received a very pleasant welcome. An old building with lots of history which has been sympathetically maintained. Went for a walk round the town centre, quite a quaint place with some nice shops. Had a drink outside the hotel in comfortable seating (the sun was shining so what else to do?) then a good meal in the restaurant. Room was comfortable and breakfast was good. Would certainly use it again and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a stopover or wanting to spend a few days in the area. The service was great and we felt that we got excellent value.
Stayed the night whilst my son was racing in the area. Room 56 over looked the car park. Traditional old hotel with lots of history. Immaculate and clean. Nice twin room and was happy to find an electric fan in the wardrobe on the hottest day of the year. Service and staff were lovely. Breakfast was first class, I had the full English. Faultless. One issue - it was £6.50 for a glass of white wine - I thought this was a tad expensive! Overall a beautiful old hotel, lovely evening meal in hotel (sea food pasta and fish and chip soup of the day ) . Swimming pool and sauna added to the experience. Excellent over night stay. Happy to recommend the hotel/facilities and food. Foot note to manager - please compliment your staff they were a credit to the hotel.
Very pleasant place to stay with comfortable bed and reasonable sized rooms. Restaurant had excellent food but menu doesn't change much. Kettle in the room was faulty. Servicing of the room was rather late in the day which wouldn't normally be a problem but because of bad weather we were in and out all day.
A friend and I stopped here for a night while we cycled the Way of the Roses over two days. The staff were very pleasant and were so helpful. Our bikes were happily accommodated and securely locked up overnight. The room was good and the shower was hot, just what was needed after the grim weather we had that day. Food from the Bar and breakfast was great. I really appreciated the pool and jacuzzi in the leisure suite to loosen up the legs after a day in the saddle. Cheers !
We stayed here for the night whilst meeting friends in the village.. good points.. fab wifi friendly staff and clean. Car parking at the back of the hotel so cars not parked on the road. Bad points.. not much choice on the menu for evening meal and bar options were poor. Bed was really hard but that's much to my preference and pillows were pockets of air but same again preference. And only served breakfast til 930 on a Sunday which I thought was early for a Sunday. Overall lovely place. We stayed in room 33 which was massive.. plenty of room. And clean. Plenty of towels to. Will definitely stay again if in the area
We stayed over night at this hotel as we were in the area for an event. We will definitely use this again and can highly recommend it to others. The breakfast was excellent with a range of choices. The room we had was very nice a standard double however we found the bed was a little small so would book a larger option in future.
