House was not cleaned from maintenance work that had been done. And Elliott put in a re-clean and they never showed.

Family Get Away

We didn’t get into the house until 7pm we had several issues washer leaked , garbage disposal didn’t work, microwave didn’t turn table did my work cooking food in only 1 spot, upstairs bathroom dirty would not have used it. Food wrappers under furniture. Sent an email with the issues and had repairmen come in the house when we weren’t even there At one time I’m sure this house was beautiful it is just taken good care of. We still enjoyed our time in Myrtle Beach enjoyed location on the beach. Probably wouldn’t stay there again

Beautiful Setting - with some hiccups

We rented this beautiful home for a week with our whole adult family. The house is in a great location with plenty of parking for our 3 cars. It was great having beach access right from the back door/patio. We really enjoyed having the pool altho it looks bigger in the pictures on the website. The pool deck is roomy and has lots of seating. The different balconies were really nice. We did have to wait until 5pm to get into the house. Better than a 7pm check in. One thing that we were not aware of was having to make our own beds. On the second floor of the house, there was a bag with sheets wrapped in plastic for each bed. Then there was a bag of towels for each of the bedrooms. I have never had to do that at any VRBO that we have stayed at & we have stayed at a lot. There were little black ants on the bathroom counters and on the kitchen counter. We bought ant traps because it was such a problem. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean but, the floors, on the main floor, felt gritty from the sand. We swept the living room and kitchen floor and found a large amount of sand - considering the house was cleaned the day before. All things considered, it's a great house in a wonderful location - our side of the pier, on the beach, was not very crowded which was really nice. We really enjoyed the beach a lot!

Beautiful location

The Mermaid is in a very good location to enjoy the beach that is located in a part of Myrtle Beach that is not overcrowded. The home has seen it’s hay day and needs attention. It’s the typical beach house that you would expect but not as luxurious as we thought it would be. As a VRBOer that has over 300 night stays we were very surprised by the lack of attention to detail which a rental by owner typically provides. There is a mermaid statue when you open the door the breasts were covered and what we hoped was dried sticky milk. The beds had no sheets on them and there was not a roll of toilet paper in the whole house. Very different experience than my previous stays. This property is rented by a rental agency whom sent constant texts about things like trash removal and associated fees if the rules were not followed. Also received a text that I needed to take the final load of trash to the dump because I was leaving on a non trash day. The owners touch was definitely missing on this property which made a huge difference. Has a lot of potential but needs a lot of work.

Cleanliness of the property

this property was beautiful. But I was so disappointed of how dirty the place was. We walked in and smelled mold. Then the bathroom tubs were dirty, floors we had white dog hair all over our socks, we had to clean the place before we could actually use it. Dog hair all over, dust on picture frames, I don’t think the bathroom sinks were washed out. There were little gnats all over the countertops. Like I said the property is beautiful but the place was filthy. Lights were not working on the outside by the pool. I had to go turn in a repair slip. For what I paid for that house I was very disappointed.
