Booked a room in November & cancelled within a week...full refund due...4 months later & despite a personal visit to the hotel to ask where the refund was, still no payment €216 still awaited & no reply
This hotel is perfectly located for exploring the old part of Nice. It is small, and old, and wonderful. No elevator, though. Great little coffee spot. Across the street from museums and national theater. Very helpful staff, speaking English well. Carried out heavy suitcases up and down the narrow stairs. Nice is more than an airport and this is the greatest spot to stay.
We had booked for three nights and added one. Lovely little (17 rooms) place with a restaurant and a tiny but pretty terrace suitable for a drink before dinner. Rooms comfortable. Useful - sized bathrooms and a small desk. Windows did a great job of keeping the noise out when closed and letting air in when open. Wasn't hot enough to test the ac but it was there. WiFi free and while not blistering certainly usefully fast. Restaurant a bonus and many others close by. Chef from Mauritius and so a few items on the menu appeared which were unexpected and very tasty. Location was fabulous. Not just on the edge of the old part of the city but also close to the museum of contemporary art ( and almost as importantly it's parking garage) and major tram and bus routes. Staff lovely and helpful. The manager ( I forgot to ask but we think also the owner) seemed to be on - site continuously. Lovely fellow. Ditto the other desk clerk we met and the young woman who organized the restaurant. Breakfast was standard for a tourist hotel. Quite nice. Comfortable seating indoors or out. Only problems we had were of our own making. We thought it had a lift and it doesn't and we didn't plan our parking in advance and so wandered a bit before finding a temporary spot and checking in, getting directions to the museum garage. Recommended.
+ Breakfast was much better than the usual coffee and toast. Even fresh fruit, 2 kinds of juice. Staff in reception very pleasant and helpful. + Excellent location on edge of old town, and easy access to everything, i.e. Airport bus, old town, restaurants, shopping streets, harbour. Ok, we had to walk to the beach, but that was just a pleasant walk through old town.+ Quaint hotel and suites individually furnished/decorated. In our room we had no wallpaper, but cloth. The walls up the stairs were also covered with cloth. Is it to make it more soundproof or is it easier to keep fresh than wallpaper that easily get torn? - Separated toil withouth washbasin. Not so hygient - Room small (Monet suite), but I suppose this is to be expected when you are in Nice. - Cleaner entered room without knocking. - Thin walls, so I think you can hear the neighbours if they are noisy - No lift, so not suitable if you're unable to walk stairs The small rooftop terrace, is more a space for looking and smoking, not so much for sitting down
We booked a room with breakfast and terrace at the phone. When we arrived the terrace was a tiny balcony facing a restaurant kitchen (what a bad smell!). The room, at the 3rd floor with no elevator but just a tiny and very steep stair, was so small one could barely enter. The moquette was stained and dusty. The shower with mould and hair. But the worst had still to come. Talking to the owner it came out breakfast was not included (we specifically asked for a full board fare). He kept insisting he never included breakfast and started shouting and swearing in front of our insistence to have an all inclusive fare. In front of such a situation, just after a couple of hours (we had already unpacked our luggage and got a shower in that smelling bathroom) we decide to leave for a better place.
I stayed at Hotel Villa la Tour for the second time and I was even more thrilled than the first time! The bedroom I was in had just been renovated with great taste and was very convenient. The location in still absolutely perfect, in the center of the old town. The terrace is lovely for a drink or a meal from the restaurant. Rooms and restaurant are both really affordable. I guess there is no better deal in Nice! Will definitely be back next time I am in Nice.
The restaurant attached to the hotel was lovely in a small square busy with many other outside dining opportunities. Service a little slow but worth the wait as everything had been cooked from fresh - including the tuna in the salad, and the whole sea bream. Very good food and good value. Pleasant staff. Perfect for lunch on a hot sunny Sunday.
Colourful place with helpful staff and although room was small it has air con, wifi and sweet street view. Great location for food and Garibaldi Square and only 7 minutes from the sea. Loads of places to eat - easy bus to and from airport - parking 100 metres away - Contemporary Art Museum 100 metres away
3 pairs of 2 booked 3 separate rooms. Turned up, went to our rooms, scoffed in disgust and requested a refund of our deposit. Now sitting at a cafe trying to find somewhere to stay tonight. My own room was smaller than my bedroom at home but with a toilet, shower and basin squeezed in. The view was of rubbish bins and 2 washing machines stacked on top of each other. The lobby area is cunningly clean and delightful. But once you start heading upstairs the place becomes a messy, dilapidated hell hole. Mould everywhere, dirt everywhere and our tv was fixed to the wall high up above a makeshift wardrobe. I can only describe this place as an utter embarrassment and in need of a complete overhaul. What a horrible way to start a holiday. Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else!!
We have just returned from a perfect stay at Hotel Villa La Tour, the staff and management are very hospitable and our stay was perfect in every way possible. Hotel Villa La Tour is very clean, very comfortable and comes highly recommended from us. The location is perfect, set in the heart of the old town, the tram stop is a 2 minute walk away - 2 stops on the tram to massena square (however is a lovely walk through the park which takes only about 10 minutes casually strolling, same for the beach) and 4 stops to the train station. We will most definitely be returning to this hotel again as we was made to feel very welcome. Thankyou for a really lovely stay x
