We have just returned from a perfect stay at Hotel Villa La Tour, the staff and management are very hospitable and our stay was perfect in every way possible. Hotel Villa La Tour is very clean, very comfortable and comes highly recommended from us. The location is perfect, set in the heart of the old town, the tram stop is a 2 minute walk away - 2 stops on the tram to massena square (however is a lovely walk through the park which takes only about 10 minutes casually strolling, same for the beach) and 4 stops to the train station. We will most definitely be returning to this hotel again as we was made to feel very welcome. Thankyou for a really lovely stay x
The location was fantastic at the top of the old town with a lovely walk through old town to the beach (6-8 minutes). The staff were ALWAYS welcoming and friendly, speaking English and French. The breakfast petit dejeuner (buffet style) had a full range of cereals, rolls, coffee, teas, yogurt, and juices. Our room was comfy and relaxed with funky decor and art on the walls with tall french window and shutters. The room was cleaned and organized after we returned from our days outings- old town market, boulangerie, Chagall museum, beach with amazing turquoise sea. Highly recommended.
Great pictures of the lobby/bar/restaurant that looked good in person. However, our room smelled like paint, there was dust everywhere, the room was dirty and the floor was slanted (higher on one side and lower on the other). No minibar or fridge. No bathtub, but a small dirty bathroom. However, it is in a great location close to the Vielle Ville (Old Town) and the front desk staff was friendly. We recently got engaged before coming to this hotel and was expecting more based on the online pictures, but we were disappointed when we arrived. There is no elevator and a very narrow staircase, with padded walls. We didn't sleep well due to the smell of paint and dust, so we woke up with a headache. The bed was also too small and uncomfortable. The bedding was dated and the pillows were severely stained. They did have wifi and a very small safe that was not properly secured. We booked for 4 nights but checked out after the first night. Would not recommend. We j
Found this place online and its in the old part of Nice down a side street near everything. Perfect location. 20 min from airport, 35 euros for cab. Hotel is dated, small and worn but not at all dirty. I felt very safe and loved the place. Only downside we had was there wasn't any elevator. Other than that, choose this hotel! You won't regret it!
We stayed for a week and got a very good deal on their webpage (6 nights for the price of 4, which wasn't available on Expedia, Booking.com and similar). The Vaco room we stayed in was quiet and big enough for two. The only minor grumble was that towels hadn't been left in the room but this was quickly sorted out by the very helpful staff. The location is excellent, being close to the old town and place garibaldi (and as such, trams and buses). The free glass of wine when you arrive is a nice touch too. Would stay again. Go to Maizon (very close) for excellent brunch/lunch!
We booked this place very last minute- and didn't pay very much to be honest, we had been travelling around France and wanted to put our heads down for the night. But all I ask for is somewhere clean- however this was not, the bathroom was full of flies and an assortment of bugs flying around everywhere. The cleaner from 8.45 in the morning was trying to get in our room, even though we kept insisting no- she kept on coming back and I was informed check out was not until 12pm. It's near restaurants etc. Not sure how I would rate Nice either, I preferred the other towns and cities we visited a lot more. But this hotel is very close to the airport- they offer some wifi codes also but only for one device at a time.
I had a night on my own in Nice. Picked this hotel as it was recommended on the Nice forum. Great advice! I took the 98 bus from T1 at the airport and the hotel is almost the last stop. It was easy to spot the hotel from the bus despite it being down a side street. Had room 209 with a balcony. Wonderfully decorated, really cosy and the shower and toilet are seperate from each other. However it is small and I can't imagine anyone over 6ft being able to fit into the loo comfortably. The balcony is only separated from the next one by thin rails so you are close together if smoking, chatter or essentially sitting right next to your neighbour is a problem. There is no lift and the corridors and stairs are narrow and windy so big bags are going to be an issue. Having said that I had hand luggage only and enjoyed the hotel with it's character. Reception were a delight. Friendly and helpful. Loads of lovely lanes of shops right on your doorstep, including a supermarket. I'd happily go back.
I stayed here with my wife in the summer of 2015. The location is excellent, right in the middle of the Old Town and just a 5 minutes walk to the Promenade. Just a 2 mins walk to the bus stand, so very convenient if you are taking a bus from the airport. The tram station is also just a 2 mins walk away, so you can easily take the tram to the railway station. The staff is friendly, and the food is nice. Our room was pretty small, though it had a nice, small balcony.
This hotel has a great location and best of all was air conditioned. The room was like being in a guest room of a french family. Clean comfortable . Bath was good size and very clean. Only draw back was no life.
Just returned from a 4 night stay at VLT, and it was very pleasant indeed. The hotel is situated on the Old Town, and we found the narrow passageways were great fun to explore. If you like walking, it's perfectly located, just a few minutes to the port and seafront. The hotel itself is in an old building, and has a restaurant below the rooms at street level. We didn't try the restaurant, only for the buffet breakfast ( not especially good value for money at 12 euros each) but there are numerous places to eat, offering food of all types within a few minutes walk. Our double room was small, and overlooked the pedestrian Street below and apartments opposite. Not a great deal of space for clothes, and the bathroom was definitely not designed for two at a time! But everything was clean, and well presented, and the staff very friendly and helpful. A word of warning for those not as young and fit as they once were, no lift! After hours walking around the beautiful city of Nice in 30 degree heat, those 3 floors to alight felt like climbing the Alps! Slow and steady did the trick! The bell tower gives a 7am alarm call each day, so that's handy for early risers! All round, a very pleasant experience, and we will return to the beautiful French riviera.
