I went there last week and booked through a page. We indicated we were 3 people staying but, as the page said that there were no more 3 bedroom, we had to book two double rooms. When we finally arrived there, the receptionist had a really bad humor and explained the features vaguely. When we open the doors, we found out that the two rooms had 3 beds each (which was imposible according to the hotel because they had no more space) and it was a waste of money from us to get the two rooms when we could only use one of them. We kindly went to talk to the receptionist, whom again was in a bad humor, and the only response she gave us several times is that she couldn’t give us our money back, it was TOTALLY our fault and if we wanted to talk to somebody we had to wait 3 days until the manager came (we stayed one night only). We had to call the company which we booked through, but the final decision was in the hotel. Guess what happened? They kept telling us that it was our fault, we booked incorrectly and they are not responsible for that. Moreover, the receptionist from the morning treated us like we didn’t know anything and started telling us that he could do whatever he wanted with the rooms because it was their policy and they can give you whatever they want without informing you. Terrible workers and terrifying company policy. I don’t advice you to stay there if you love yourself. Also, the rooms were tiny, bath could almost not be considered as one and the breakfast was poor and not worth the money.
The Univers hotel is very central, beside many lovely shops and restaurants. The room was a good size and there was a nice gift of soap and a small perfume in the room on arrival. Breakfast was hot and cold food, eggs bacon beautiful breads, fruit etc. The tea and coffee were from a machine but were ok. Nice is a beautiful city to visit and the weather in October was really nice. Well worth a visit. I would stay in this hotel again.
It is a three star hotel. Great price for what you get. Great location very close to tram stop. Very important if you are coming from airport with luggage. The staff was friendly. My wife and I had arrive early. Our double room was not ready so they put us in the triple room. Luggage storage is not a problem. Close to Massena, the old town and the beach. Plenty of shopping and restaurants in the area. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Staff friendly and spoke English, very helpful planning tours. Perfect location to shopping, restaurants, and the promenade. Five minute walk to the beach front. Room was clean, bed was good, bathroom clean. Would stay here again.
Came here after trip to Germany cancelled. Had read various reviews, so arrived with an open mind. Was greeted warmly at reception, given my room card, and everything was explained. Room on 4th floor - a typical French town hotel room. Overlooked main Street, but noise didn't bother me, as I live on a main road. Lovely view across roof tops. Everything you could want for breakfast, to set you up for a day exploring. Location superb - a few minutes stroll from the sea front, old town, shops, candidate railway station, with tram & bus stops close by. Lots of restaurants and cafes close by too. I can't wait to go back.
The hotel is situated at one minute walk from Place Massena. It is also at walking distance from the beach and the old town. There are multiple food/dining options for different budgets at a walking distance. the staff was courteous and could answer all our queries regarding local sight seeing etc. The breakfast spread is decent, though there could have been more choice for vegetarians like us.. The rooms were clean and spacious with views of the street below....
The hotel is in a great location. It is very convenient to the tram and the city center as well as a short walk to old town and the beach. It was old, clean but a musty smell. The staff was friendly and helpful but there was not a "true" concierge. They can help with the basics like transit. They aren't going to be able to book tours. I was in France on business and spent a night with colleagues in my own room. Would have been tight for more than one person. So, if locations and a good price (120 EUR) in the center of town is your priority this will do. If you have a bigger budget I would stay somewhere else. My focus was sightseeing not leisure, therefore amenities of pool, restaurant, fitness etc did not drive my decision.
This hotel is just off Place Massena. If you want a most reasonable hotel within walking distance of the old town, beach and shopping this is it. It is a place to sleep in. Nice is the place to visit. The rooms are clean, the staff welcoming and professional. You could walk to the hotel from the station along the main shopping street. Should take you 15 minutes. If you choose the breakfast option, there is plenty of choice and my wife said that the coffee was the nicest she has ever tasted in a hotel and you can drink as much of it as you wish. I wouldn't bother with the cooked breakfast. This is the second time we have stayed here and our experience has been the same both times. It is a place to lay your head and quite reasonable for its position in town.
Ideally located for shops, restaurants and the Promenade des Anglais, this hotel deserves four stars for its level of service and accommodation. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was plentiful and well served. Some reviewers have said that the rooms were small, but mine was fine.
We booked this hotel through British Airways when we were booking our flight from London to Nice. The hotel is very well located in the centre of Nice but that's one of the few good things to say about the hotel. Except that the front desk service was also very good. Our fault really as it is only a three star hotel but the location could not have been better.
