I booked a Lufthansa Surprise for the Holiday weekend in mid-August. Based on that program, I had no idea where I would end up - Dubrovnik, Split or Nice. I was initially pleased that the surprise was Nice. Little did I know what disasters were to be. When I arrived in the city, it was filled to capacity. This did not bother me as I had confirmed reservations--until I didn't! When I checked into the hotel, (near this location, but certainly not this hotel) I was told that they couldn't find it! I showed the voucher and they still refused to honor it, prepaid as it was! I was forced to find new accommodations in the middle of this holiday rush. It was a nightmare, and the costs possibly still on my credit card have yet to be worked out. I had the presence of mind to at least book another room for one night, assuming the worst for the first night. This was how I discovered Hotel Vendome. I was pleased that the reservation was accepted immediately upon my appearance at the hotel. This was the first time in FOUR appearances in Nice that this occurred! The front desk person was very accommodating and knowledgeable. He gave me the keys to room 401, and I gratefully walked the stairs to the room. There is an elevator, though I chose to walk. My room was efficient, but had all of the necessities I could want. There was a shower in the bathroom, and plenty of hot water. I had a view of an apartment building, which was well kept. I did not choose the breakfast, (which was extra cost) as my plane was to depart at the crack of dawn. While my experience in Nice was not nice, Hotel Vendome certainly helped ease the pain of this trip. The room was quality for the price, and the service was friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this property for your serious consideration. It towered over its competition for clear and basic reasons.
Built in 1840, very small rooms, great location, staff are friendly. Needs updating. Parking could be a challenge if you arrive late as they have limited parking spaces. Average breakfast. Stayed for three nights with my family, so called suites are on the ground floor two levels sofa bed / bath on the first floor and a queen size bed/ bath on the second. Very tiny stairs connecting the two floors.
Basic Hotel ,good value for money ,central Nice sort walk to Sea front and rail station .overall Hotel Vendome was fairly well located ,the hotel staff were multi lingual and very pleasant as well as helpful.
We needed a room for four in Nice, and booked quite late at Hotel Vendome. Price was 220 Euro per night, which is high even for Nice. Therefore we had quite high expectations. The building is really old and fascinating from both inside and outside. Located very centrally near Place Massena, you can get to the old town by ten minutes walk. The duplex has a double bed, TV and bathroom on the upper floor. On the lower floor, just a few steps from the reception, there are two beds and a bathroom. Everything feels narrow, and we were happy our stay was for only two nights. The wifi did not work in our room (number 6) due to two doors, so we sat in the lobby to surf the net... Breakfast was 14 Euros per adult, so we went to a cafe at Place Massena the first morning. On our departure day though, we had breakfast in the hotel. They had a good mix and we could even press our own juice. Nice and charming hotel with helpful staff, but not worth such a high rate...
Wonderful place . Beautiful decor. Clean, quiet location. Excellent staff. Great breakfast. Hotel in excellent location for old town/port/seafront etc. Train station 10 minutes walk and main shops even closer. Yes rooms are a little small, as is breakfast room, but this just added to the magic and charm of this fabulous hotel. We will definitely be back. Recommended 100% plus.
We were at another hotel which was fully booked when we decided to extend our stay for 2 more nights. So I searched around and found Vendome hotel behind the hotel that we were staying. Hotel Vendome is as charming, cute, small hotel. The elevator was really tiny but it was working just fine. The breakfast was great and they had a gluten free options which was rare to find in Nice. Very close to the beach, walking distance. Close to the old market, not so close to the airport but we only paid 10 Euros for an Uber ride. Had to take a cab from the airport to the hotel. We rented a car and visited, Cannes and Monaco. Lots of restaurants and shopping centers close to the hotel. Staff were friendly, bur our room was very small, although it was enough and super clean. I can't find our room in any of these pictures above, I feel the pictures have been retouched a bit.
We stayed for one week at this lovely hotel. It is in a good location, ideal for the promenade (about 15minute walk) and for the train station ! It is a lovely traditional building and the rooms (although small) are well equipped, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was adequate and the staff were friendly enough. We would recommend and would go here again.
The hotel is centrally located and is having a french charme. The room is small but clean and the bed is very good. This is a old building converted in a hotel but the decorations, the old elevator and the classique furniture in the lobby gave me a nice feeling. The breakfast room is too small and the breakfast was simple but I think that is a nice hotel for South of France if you look for a simple hotel centrally located and the budget is under 100 Euro per room per night
Stayed at this hotel as 3 couples April 18-21 and it met our needs perfectly. One of the main reasons to pick this hotel was the location being only 10min at most to the old town and the promenade which it was. Everything was walkable and the main train station was 15min away which we used to go to monaco. All the staff were encountered were very friendly from the receptionists to the cleaners and the lady looking after the breakfast room. Breakfast was a decent enough choice to set us up for a mornings walking about. Yes the bedrooms are on the smaller side but if your travellers like us who are out all day how often are you using your room. All in all this hotel suited our purposes exactly for our 3 night stay.
I have to say I was disappointed in this hotel which really has decent reviews. The public spaces in the hotel are lovely. Our room is nice enough but quite small - if you want to sit at the desk your roomate has to climb over the bed to get to the bathroom. This is supposedly a non-smoking hotel but there is a persistent smell of cigarettes wafting in. The bed is a small double, so if you are used to queen, you might want to request 2 twins. The bedding is nice but the duvet too heavy for the weather and with a duvet it's either all covers or none. The bathroom is tiny and if you have an elderly person or even someone who is not limber like a 20 year old, getting into the shower/tub is really a challenge. It is a very high step in and no hand holds or bath mat on the slick surface. We were unable to figure out the heating or cooling; nothing seemed to work, though the TV worked fine. On a positive note, it was fun to hear a flamenco dance class in progress somewhere up the street. Also, we discovered we're about 4 blocks from the tram which will take you to the Old Town or train station.
