Albert 1'er Hotel Nice, France3.0 out of 5.0

Grand little hotel near everything really. The only thing that I would change is the noisy air-conditioning. Best value around the area and quick check in right outside the bus stop of the n.98 coming from the airport, could not be handier!
I booked an unspecified room but the followed it with an email to explain it was my daughters first time in France (she's 14) and could they please make sure we had a room with a view of the sea and a balcony. They emailed back to say they would be able to accommodate us. When we arrived we were shown to our room. It was a nicely decorated room but the view was of the dirty yard, it was not a present view. I went back down to reception and eventually had to pay another €20 a night for a room with a sea view. So that wasn't very professional in my opinion as they had previously emailed and if there was going to be an extra charge it should have been mentioned then. Anyway then our first night in the hotel and the air conditioning didn't seem to be working! The thermometer I brought with us (I can't sleep above a certain temp due to having cancer) and the thermometer said the inside of the room was 31 degrees! I didn't sleep most of the night and at one point considered sleeping on the balcony as it was a mere 24 outside. The hotel said the next day the air con was broken and it would be fixed today. I was then told it was fixed but I'm still in a room of 29 degrees! And I have shut the shutters to block out the sun! Also the fridge doesn't work so nothing you put in it stays cold, in fact it warms things up and then they smell. The staff seem friendly but actually do very little to sort out any issues. And the maid service leaves a lot to be desired! They cleaned out bathroom a little bit and gave us new towels but didn't Hoover, or polish, or make the beds... For the money I think there are better deals to be had, and ones with the basic you would expect; decent air conditioning and a good maid service!
A small family runned hotel. Booked through a friend of mine, it is 10 minutes walk to promenade and 15 minutes walk to Palais de Congres. Quite pleasant owners, really does the job of a place to sleep. Continental breakfast is served in a room with a terrace, quite sufficient for leisure travellers who are looking for a simple, clean but yet pleasant service.
Decent place, clean. Recently refurbished I suppose because bathroom looked brand new. Good quality/price rating. Next to old city, park and shopping district. Excellent breakfast. Unfortunately no parking but public parking Sulzer is in walking distance.
The hotel Albert 1er, although basic, is extremely clean and welcoming. It is certainly a relaxed place to hang your hat whilst in this wonderful city. Its location is ideally situated for the old town, central, and beach life of Nice. The staff are courteous and extremely helpful at all times of the day and night. Thumbs up 'Albert 1er' we will return.
The location is perfect, close to everything. The interior seems to be renovated and is clean, quite modern and comfortable. The staff was always happy to greet and help. There were a couple of issues: first of all, the shower. The bathtub (you shower in it) was filled with water when you showered, there must have been some kind of a problem with the drain. This meant that it was quite unpleasant for the next person to shower to step into the tub filled with leftover water - in order to avoid this you had to wait for half an hour or so for the water to wash down the drain. The second issue was that the cleaner did not leave any toilet paper, not once during our week-long stay. We had to go get it ourselves from the reception several times. Also when we asked the reception to order us a taxi to the airport, the car that arrived did not have any taxi sings or a taxi meter. The driver charged us 35 euros and it could only be payed in cash (we did not know this beforehand). We would have preferred an "official" taxi and information of the payment method and amount since we trusted this task to the hotel reception. All in all, I can recommend this place to a budget traveler who values location over luxury but still wants things clean, comfortable and modern. Well worth the three stars!
This hotel is fabulous for access to the old town, restaurants galore, great transport links round the city, and the view across the bay (paid for sea view) was worth every cent. The air con in the room was dire. Completely inadequate.
Wonderful hotel, very clean, friendly helpful staff in a good location for beach and visiting Nice Old Town. Towels and bedding were changed daily. Airport bus drops off outside hotel. Can obtain a buffet breakfast for extra cost. All round good 3* hotel
Great hotel less than 100 metres from the seafront and five minutes walk from the Old Town. The tour bus stops virtually outside the front door, and the airport bus and the tram (for Gare Nice Ville) stop nearby. Very nice breakfast and clean, comfortable rooms. Very helpful staff.
I had a fabulous stay at the Hotel Albert. From the moment I arrived I had a warm welcome from the reception and a lovely bottle of champagne was waiting for me in the room, a great treat after the flight. The room was larger than many I have stayed in with a private bath. The room was clean and consistently so throughout the stay. Location is great, just a few minutes walk from the Beach and restaurants as well as shopping. I would recomment the Albert during your time in Nice.
