Motel: I arrived in Newcastle on my drive to Sydney. I booked the motel at 7:00pm and it listed reception as open until 9:00pm. I arrived at the reception at 7:20pm and an older gentleman came to the front desk from the back. He appeared to be the owner or manager. He rudely asked, “Yes?” And stared at me. Me: “I’m here to check in” Man: “Nope” Me: (surprised that this was his response) “Yes. I booked around 15 minutes ago.” (And I provided my name) Man: (Seeming very annoyed) “Well nothing has come through” Me: “Well it’s booked” Man: “What’s your name again?!” Me: (I tell him my name again and then he decides to check his computer) Man: “Did you book on our website or elsewhere?” (Still annoyed) Me: “Expedia” Man: “Hmm, I see it. Sign this.” He handed me the 2nd piece of paper with just a signature line. I skimmed page 1. Man: “What, your don’t trust your own booking?” (Condescendingly) Me: “I read things that I sign.” Then the man said Expedia put me in a room that someone already was in, so he gave me a budget room. He snapped, “that’s what you get for booking with an American company.” I filled out the survey Expedia/Orbitz sent me saying I had a bad check in. While I was still there, the man sent me an email yelling at me and scolding me like I was a child. The next morning at check out, I told the woman at the front that they should improve their service. She said I just don’t understand their sense of humor. Beware of this place.
