Stayed 2 nights in a room with a partial view of the sea. King bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom very good. Breakfast in the restaurant was the usual standard with good coffee. Had tea both nights from room service which were very nice and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay.
We booked a harbour view room for our anniversary and were not disappointed. The receptionist was lovely and check-in a breeze. The view of Nobby's was as advertised and the room was spotlessly clean as were all corridors and common areas etc. Tried the spa and breakfast was fine. It was more expensive than we would normally pay but we enjoyed it for the special occasion. We also had dinner in Bistro Dalby and the food was excellent.
We arrived around lunch time for our overnight stay we were able to check in straight away. If you take a hire car parking is available on the street for free on weekends(good luck finding a bay though) or they offer pay for secure parking under hotel The room was nice and comfortable with a mini bar with a few refreshments. Tv was easy to use. Bath room was okay although shower head could of been bigger for such a big shower. Water pressure was good and water was nice and warm
Having stayed here for the last couple of years, i see no need to change. Everything this hotel is class. Starting from its workforce. The girls at the front desk, the cleaning staff and the restaurant crew. The room in which we had was spot on for us. Two adults and two kids 7+11. The two boys had a bed each(no foldaway or pullout sofa) and my wife and i a queen. Pillow menu to suit your own taste and a bathroom bigger than some motel rooms. Centrally located. Its only a block to the buses. Two blocks to the stockton ferry. Two minutes to cafes and other eateries. But most importantly half a block to Newcastle beach. Although we swam there we found another five minutes walk and you could go to nobbys beach. Both patrolled beaches but found nobbys was better. Maybe a bit safer but remember they are surf beaches so be careful. After a swin why not go to the hotel spa and/or spa. Then finish it off with a great meal a the restaurant Dalbys. Why not have breakfast there as well. We stayed 5 nights and would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks Novotel Newcastle Beach Doug
Great location a minutes walk to the beach, extremely bland interior but clean and comfortable, staff are polite, happy and helpful, that's the good part. At $279 for the basic room, additional cost for wi-fi over 30 minutes, $35 for a movie and an additional $25 (not advertised on website but written on arrival checkin form) for parking in Newcastle this is not value for money. A request for a 'quiet room away from the lifts' resulted in a room next to a lovely young family who naturally had very upset children and we were situated directly above the bar with music filtering through the floor 'til the wee hours. Stuffy room ensued with the balcony doors closed, no fresh ocean air for us. When we approached the receptionist to advise it wasn't exactly 'quiet' Kate advised us they were completely booked out and she would tell the guests to be more considerate. No Novotel, the hotel was not booked out, it's too easy to see online there were rooms available through Tripadvisor and Hotels Combined and why harass this young family, children all scream and cry. It's very simple really... put us in a quiet room, not over the bar and not next to a very young family. PS: The breakfast and service at the restaurant was great and thank you for the parking credit
With only 8 people in for dinner they managed to loose my meal ticket which meant just getting mains took an hour. No thought as to how they may make up for it! I also thought I paid for the meal and drinks when I exited the dinner but no they could not get that right and so leaving the hotel the next morning got slowed down whilst I had to pay this as a result.
The Novotel Newcastle is warm from the time you check in until leaving. The front office staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the food and beverage staff are welcoming and quick to refill your glass and the housekeeping keep the rooms clean and tidy.
Lovely hotel in a really great location, close to the beach, the staff were wonderful. We dined in the Resturant and also had breaky it was very nice nothing was any trouble for the kitchen staff, the only Bad thing was the room didnt have much outlook but you are in the city
Have stayed here a few times recently for work, the last time for 11 nights in February. Rooms are always clean and usually well serviced. Restaurant is always good for a meal when other options are closed or full. Close to mall (not that there is much happening there) and beach. Car parking can usually be had for free if you are prepared to walk a short distance. Good value and comfortable.
We spent a few nights here while hubby was working. The room was clean and very spacious as was the bathroom. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to the beach(note the name) there was a surf carnival on when we were there, very busy but lots of fun. There are some lovely restaurants close by and a spa virtually next door, which was great for massages, nails etc. Lots of beautiful areas close by for walking. Newcastle is under major construction at the moment but this end of town is new and finished. Highly recommend this hotel
