Room had view of ocean, beautiful. Great food, wonderful service. Staff was pleasant and I felt like they truly cared about their guests. Just a few minutes away from Natal by Taxi. A representative at the hotel can handle tours and helpful info. Just a wonderful experience!!
We have been 10 nights in this hotel, this is our review: PROS: - Location very quiet, enormous "private" beach. - Staff very kind and good service. - Breakfast. CONS: - Rooms very small, not enough space for clothes, towels and luggage. - Does not have a useable safety box. - Dinner buffet service mediocre. No desserts (only some sweets). - Prices of dishes for lunch are 2x those in "Ponta Negra" or other places. - There is nothing in 6 Km around. If you need something, you have to go to Ponta Negra (R$ 28 one way). - Hygiene of bathrooms in the pool area is mediocre. - Check-in process veeery slow. Obsolete system. - Beach towels have a charge (very small, but not good for a 4 star hotel).
If you want a peaceful holiday i would recommend not to stay here... we went in September and the hotel and 2 congresses going on, no parking place available and all leisure activities where full. The views are great, but is all designed for a lot of people, which sometimes is too noisy. Rooms are simple and staff is very friendly.
Hotel Vila do Mar is certainly not a brand new property and is in need of a renovation. However, the facilities, the rooms, breakfast quality and most importantly, the location makes it a very good choice for your holiday in Natal. Right at the most fantastic beach, almost private, offering free sunbeds at the beach and by the pool. The scenery is spectacular, with the sand dunes on the back and the ocean in the front. Every room has amazing seaviews. The infinity pool is beautiful and a great place to relax. Rooms are quite basic in decor but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a great surprise, really good quality, a lot to choose from, overall a very good value. Considering the nightly rate offered in several websites, Hotel Vila do Mar is probably unbeatable on cost X benefit. Highly recommended!
Good customer service and employees very helpful. The food was delicious. Breakfast had a lot of choice , the set menu for lunch and buffet for dinner was very good too . The room had a lovely huge bed, refurbished bathroom, sea view , but was a little bit tired.
We had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE here and I am sorry but I must report it for future travelers. This resort is old, old furniture, old air conditioner,etc... However the buffet and location are good (ONE STAR FOR THIS). We only stayed one night and had a terrible experience, my husband twin bed leg broke and we were moved to another room at 11 p.m. But the biggest disappointment was the 2 inch (12 cm) COCKROACH I found in the morning in the bathroom!! Horrible!!! We ran out to check out in the Lobby and complained but the front desk person was not impressed nor did she apologize... THIS KIND OF INCIDENT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ANY RESORT/HOTEL. I would AVOID this Hotel for this reason no matter how good the location on the beach can be. Thank you.
We stayed here as part of a Royal Holiday Club booking. My in-laws had booked two rooms and we were supposed to be all set for a very late arrival at 2 am! Not so... we arrived and all they had was a room with four small beds for all the four of us to share! The next morning we called the hotel reservations department, and although it took them a whole day to get this sorted, it was all taken care of, and we finally were able to move to the two separate rooms we were originally supposed to have. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant and service received from Nildo, Marcelo, Bruno and Renato, all other staff was slow and uninterested, but these four were awesome! Our shuttle to the airport ran one hour late to the point that we almost were late for our flight and Nido and Marcelo were so kind they even offered to drive us to the airport in their own vehicle (it just did not work for us, as we had too much luggage). Ultimately, the called us a cab, which was there in 20 minutes, and still arrived before the shuttle we had ordered. Off we went! The tour desk was great and we enjoyed our day tours, particularly the Marazul Buggy Tour. The pool was great and the drinks at the bar were good. Although we had a good time. This was the trip of a lifetime, so we are unlikely to return to the area. OK place, but not what we expected. Mexico next time, as infrastructure in Brazil is frustratingly lacking. Another negative aspects of this resort is that nobody speaks English! If you are good at making hand gestures you will be fine, though.
I stayed alone in a room with 4 small single beds. They denied me a double bed room. The air conditioning system is too old with no temperature control. The breakfast is poor. The fitness center was destroyed, with not even a single treadmill working. However is a beautiful hotel. Nice beach and swimming pool. The wi fi didn't work.
A very nice seashore hotel, excellent for travelers with children, once it offers a big pool area. Ample bedrooms, dispite the twin beds are very narrow. Although you'll need a car to go around, it's worth to be out of Ponta Negra beach, so crouded and full of hawkers.
This hotel is better suited to Brazilians who have a car and is less than ideal for foreign travellers. Just getting out of this hotel to buy supplies will set you back a minimum of R$50 for a return taxi fare. The hotel restaurant food is not great and is way overpriced. You can get far better food at the closest restaurants, which, along with everything else, are about 6 km away. A 1.5 l bottle of water will cost you R$8 (8x the supermarket price), which really adds up. I recommend you stay closer to Ponta Negra beach so you can access everything you need by foot. There are far nicer hotels at around the same price or less near the start of Via Costeira. In addition to the terrible location, the staff are also really unfriendly and treat you more like a problem than a paying guest. Check-in involves a lot of paperwork and there is absolutely no smiling welcome - far from it! During check-in, two other guests were arguing with reception staff over their bills. I recommend you keep a list of what you bill to your room and save receipts. The wireless is pretty much unusable as it's incredibly slow and many websites will not load at all. My room key stopped working several times during my stay; I had to keep going to reception and asking them to fix it. Getting a small lot of laundry done will cost you around R$200. Be prepared to spend serious money at this hotel, or serious money on taxis to get whatever you need done. It is walkable but don't forget that Natal is extremely hot so the walk is not easy. Positive points are that the hotel feels very safe and the staff seem trustworthy - we did not use a safety deposit box. They also allowed a slightly late check-out and allowed us to hang out in the lobby while we waited for our flight, although that was probably the least they could do after a ~R$2500 spend with them. In conclusion, my feelings are quite mixed. However, even if it were in a better location, I still couldn't give it four stars since reception, restaurant and pretty much all staff are quite an unfriendly bunch (for the record, I speak Portuguese too). Stay elsewhere.
