Very kind & helpful people at the reception. The rooms are clean & basic. The neighborhood is noisy. Breakfast is ok, restaurant is cancelled but there are many, many trattorias in the streets around.
I loved so many things about this hotel - the location, the staff, the wonderful roof garden and breakfast, the fridge in the room, the big double bed for one, even the view of the laundry across the alley way. Arriving on a Sunday after an early flite I had a beautiful quiet night and sleep. Then the rest of the week the Cammarota Spritz Bar with 1 euro drinks, just doors from my window, was open with what seemed like hundreds of people in the street. You can either join in (I didn't), close the window & put on the AC (I did), put on the TV (check) and use earplugs (sooo glad I brought them). The 'gathering' goes on well after midnite. Some nights I was so tired after a full day of touring I would sleep through anything but I would definitely ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. Aside from the noise I felt extremely welcomed at this hotel, especially by the the front desk manager Giuseppe (Peppino) who always had time to answer my questions and the waiting staff, like Katia, who made a lovely omelette and I also had fried eggs with cheese in them - don't know how it was done but it was heavenly. Love to go back and stay again, minus the noise.
Oh what a disappointment! We had such high hopes when we booked this place for the last two nights of our Italian holiday. It is old, basic, noisy, the cable TV doesn't work (we were really hanging out for some English language news after six weeks) and pokey. For AUD160 per night we expected better. On the plus side, the staff is excellent - we had a very warm welcome, an early check in, even though we couldn't get into our room. The hotel is just two blocks from the Toledo Metro, the wifi works well and there is aircon. The pillows are the best we've had all holidays! There is a small fridge, a lockable safe, kettle and tea bags (no milk) and one power point for the whole room. Breakfast consists of croissants etc, some cereal, fruit juice and cakes with coffee or tea. The hotel is sandwiched between two narrow alleys, typical of this part of Naples, fortunately neither is a major thoroughfare, but still dozens of scooters whizz by noisily all day and night. There are also two very noisy bars located at the rear of the hotel, several restaurants and cafés are just a minute's walk away and there's a small bar/cafe next door. Via Toledo, the main retail district, is just two minutes walk. Would I stay there again, no, sorry.
I loved this hotel and stayed for seven nights on two separate occasions. It has an outstanding central location in a period building, located in an atmospheric and memorable street. I really felt I was experiencing a slice of Napoli life. All the staff were tremendously helpful and fun, the room had all I needed including TV channels in English and the wifi was good. Best of all was the astonishing roof terrace which covers the entire roof space and top floor. They serve a good breakfast there and fabulous capuccinos, you could sunbathe if you wish and there was even a pet tortoise walking about! If you want to be more than just another tourist and to have everything in walking distance I would stay there. In the evening it was quiet outside the hotel too. Superb value.
I spent two nights at this hotel, located in the picturesque Spanish Quarter of Naples. It is conveniently located, safe, and clean, and offers a delicious breakfast on a charming rooftop terrace. My room was very comfortable. I had the choice of closing the sound-proof windows and turning on the AC, but I turned off the AC and opened the windows and slept very well despite the occasional motorcycle whizzing by. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful - providing me advice and information that greatly enhanced my visit to Naples.
Idealy situated very central, in the Spanish Quarters, 5 minutes walk from a metro station and a busy thouroughfare (via Toledo), 15 minutes walk from town center and piers to visit the islands (and take the bus to the airport), Hotel Toledo is a nice hotel in a quiet street. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. The breakfast is also basic but you can have it in a very nice terrass. The personel of the hotel is very friendly and helpful with sound tips for visits or restaurants. I highly recommend this place and will book again a room there when visiting Naples and surroundings. Un saluto a Pino e Ciro e grazie per cueste belle vacanze ! Iván.
Spent 3 days in Naples and heard about all the good and bad of the city. Was glad I went, yet wont be rushing back to it......but... if i did i would certainly stay here again. The staff were very friendly and were only too happy to organise taxi's and places to eat and attractions. Just a street from the hotel is an restaurant Da Nennella's. Pure Italian experience, locals love it. Worth the visit. The hotel rooms i found were great, large comfy bed, safe in the room, wifi, good size bath room and a shower, with a shower head that looked big enough to "beam you up". The air con worked a treat if you leave it on low. The view from the window was pure Naples city streets.Narrow and alive...watch out for the scooters!!! The stairs are narrow and the lift is tiny, so if you have a lot of bags etc your in for a bit of a work out. on the roof top is the terrace for breakfast and what a haven it is. Lovely and sunny, nice potted plants and greenery to give it that private feeling of not being overlooked and the resident tortoise as well!! All in all i really loved this hotel. I trusted my instinct when booking and so glad i did.
This was our second stay in Hotel Toledo and it was wonderful to be back. We were treated like family and as usual the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The area is great, full of wonderful restaurants and shops in such a lively atmosphere. We could walk to the port easily and caught ferries to different islands close by. Pino gave us lots of helpful information about catching trains to Pompeii, Sorrento etc. The breakfasts are wonderful with lots of different choices and served in a beautiful rooftop garden. The coffee was always hot too. We returned for another stay after a trip to Sicily which was a great finish to our Italian holiday. We will be back again I'm sure. .
Admit I was nervous about Naples with all negative comments I had before traveling however it was a lovely place. Stayed at this hotel. Arrived gone midnight but young man that checked us in very friendly and helpful. Rooms a little basic and overlooked neighbours and all their belongings but it added to charm. Lovely roof terrace for breakfast The main positive point was the staff . The manager was really helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. He had some great tips about travelling on from Naples. The lady serving breakfast lovely too. I guess if you want the luxury that big impersonal hotels provide don't stay here but if you like to be amongst the locals and experience the Italian atmosphere and want a central location then don't hesitate to stay here. I certainly would again The trains are cheap but a bit chaotic and Naples or indeed Italy is expensive but a great time spent here as start to our holiday
My husband and I stayed 3 nights in the Hotel Toledo and could not have been more happy. Such a lovely family run hotel - the staff were fantastic - friendly and very helpful. Sergio in particular was great. The family gave us some great suggestions for dinner and made sure each morning as we headed out, that we knew how to get to our destinations. There is a roof-top terrace which was lovely to have breakfast and late night drinks. We had room 212 which was quiet, clean and large. While the furniture is not brand new and modern, it is well kept, serviceable, and adds to the feel of the hotel. We had a fridge/mini bar that was well priced. The location was great - we caught the metro from Napoli Centrale and just had to walk maybe a 100m and we were there. We loved that in the evenings you could hear mothers calling their children - that neighbourhood feeling :) but it was so central to everything else. If we were ever fortunate enough to return to Naples - we would definitely stay here again.
