Staff was so considerate and helpful. This is not a hotel with bell or door service but it is lovely and the bar and Lobby area are excellent. Our bartender for 2 nights was animated and always remembered our drink orders. Breakfast was busy but well executed with quality options and the freshest eggs and other classic Italian sweet pastries and dishes. Rhum baba was delicious! Amazing views of Naples and Vesuvius from the room as well as breakfast! We will definitely return.
We chose this hotel due to the best location for any American chain property. There is easy access to two metro stations and it is easy to walk to all the key sightseeing. Train is accessible with connection to metro. At check-in we asked for a map and were given a simple paper map that ended up being very poor. Later we asked again for a better map and found they had one right at the counter. Too bad we were not given that at the beginning! As a Platinum member, I was hoping to be upgraded to one of the renovated rooms described in some reviews here but was disappointed to be technically upgraded, but to a small, old room. The room was very small. The only upgrade I could see was an additional chair in the corner possibly. The room was constantly hot, despite it being late November. As others have observed, the air system is connected to the building system, there is really no individual room control despite the thermostat appearance. The fan was very weak but fed tepid air anyway. The window could be opened fully which was a life saver but there was no screen and much street noise so you could not leave it open overnight. The window did a fantastic job of blocking street noise so our stay was nice and quiet, aside from noisy people in the hallway on occasion. The bathroom was small, old, and with broken tile work, mildew, etc. Towel rack was coming out of the wall. Definately not up to Renaissance standards. Breakfast in the rooftop restaurant was excellent with a great view. Service there was excellent and responsive. Unfortunately, on our first visit we were asked for breakfast vouchers but the front desk failed to provide them to us. At first we were asked to go down to the front desk and get them but then they said they could call down and get covered for this visit but we had to go back to the desk to get vouchers for the rest of the week. I wish they could just check the hotel roster as other hotels usually do. Also, we only received the minimum complimentary continental breakfast and could not partake of the couple hot items. Every other Renaissance I have stayed at was willing to provide the hot items too, so I am disappointed that this property only wants to stick to its minimum obligation. I did try the restaurant and found it to be excellent and well priced, however it keeps Naples hours and did not open until 7 or 7:30p (I don't recall exactly). Given this is an American brand, I would wish that they could open earlier for dinner to provide and alternative for those who want to eat earlier. Also there was only one waiter working for the entire restaurant. There were only 3 parties seated but that kept him very busy and hard to get his attention. More staff would be recommended. My stay failed to be posted with Marriott after 30 days, so I had to make an extra call to Marriott who then had to call and verify my stay with the property. A few days later it was then posted. No apology or compensation for the extra unnecessary effort. In summary, I would hope in the future they can renovate all rooms and work on improving service at front desk to meet standards of that brand. Restaurants and door staff were great though!
Stayed at the Renaissance Naples Hotel Mediterraneo from 21-24 December 2017. The hotel is located a short 5-minute walk from Municipio and Toledo metro stations. Both of which are linked to the main Napoli Centrale station if you are coming into Naples from other parts of Italy by train. Around the hotel are many shops and eateries with the shopping street of Via Toledo a short uphill walk away. Checking in was a breeze and we were in our room on the 6th floor in no time. Our room was very spacious. The bed was comfortable with clean sheets. The room also came with a safe, TV and house brand toiletries. There was a shower screen by the bath tub which was not the most effective. This caused water to leak into the room whenever we took a shower. We had to position the floor mat strategically to prevent water from flowing into the room. Breakfast was served on the rooftop restaurant on the 11th floor. It consisted of the standard cold cuts, pastries, eggs etc. The rooftop restaurant has an outdoor terrace with a gorgeous view of Mount Vesuvius. We caught the beautiful sunrise over the mountain while having breakfast. There is a 24-hours fitness room in the hotel with some very basic weights and equipment. Hotel guests can also use the commercial gym McFit right next door which, from the sign at its door, opens from 7am to 11pm. The stay was uneventful. We were quite happy with the service and the English proficiency of the hotel staff. Do make this one of the options you consider if you are in the city.
The hotel is very well maintained and has clean and comfortable rooms. The breakfast on the roof is fantastic since the view is breathtaking. The best part of a stay at this hotel is the location. It is just a couple of blocks away from a large pedestrian shopping street with many restaurants, shops and vendors. One can stroll for quite a distance and mingle with the local residents while they stop for a gelato or pizza. Shopping malls are also close by and it is easy to walk to the central region of the town. The hotel is on a relatively quiet street with easy access to most important sites in Napoli. Highly recommended.
I spend two nights in a nice and comfortable room. The location of the hotel is great, in the middle of a vivid and lively city. There are plenty of opportunities to eat and to stroll around. Many of the most famous places in Naples can be easily reached without the need of a car or taxi. Mostly to mention is the roof top bar and the breakfast area. Breakfast was great and the best part for me was the breath-taking view towards Mount Vesuvius. Best panoramic views over the surrounding area and straight across the water. I found the staff during check inn helpful and friendly and I received helpful information to stroll around later. The room I had was a classic room, which I guess was a small one, but obviously had everything you may need. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean, the overall appearance nice, hence I have nothing to complain about the room. Will come back when visiting Naples again.
We stayed two nights here in a very spacious comfortable room that faced the street. The location is brilliant with lots to do (and eat) within an easy stroll from the hotel. Breakfast was great but the best part of breakfast was the amazing view out towards Mt Vesuvius from their rooftop restaurant. Best panoramic views straight across the water. We found the staff here less than helpful however. They weren't willing to assist with restaurant recommendations or helping us organise a tour and overall we found them quite standoffish. However when we had an issue with their transfer service to Positano (don't use it is my advice) they were wonderful. We paid 130E for a air-conditioned car service. He turned up in a 20+ year old car feigning he didn't speak English, wouldn't put the air on (broken) or pull over for photos as discussed with the staff and was generally unpleasant. However when we emailed the hotel they refunded half the fee which was very decent of them. The only thing we were really upset about was not allowing more time to explore beautiful Naples
As allways, when reviewing a hotel one must judge regarding the price one paid. Analyzing value for money. I thing the Renaissance is more than ok, with good rooms, amenities and service. A great roof top breakfast location, a bit small for the size of the hotel I might add, and correctly located both near the historic center and the cost area.
Just spent a long week end in this hotel. We had a comfort room with no sea view; our room at 7th floor was facing the street; good soundproof without any noise coming from outside, only some noises where caused by few rude guests . The room is not huge and maybe more space between bad and desk would be more useful. Bad is too soft for our taste. At arrival bathrobes and sleepers were available for just one person, even if our booking was for two. No walking shower but shower in the bathtub with a great pressure and hot water. A special note for really soft and high quality towels! A kettle is available in the room with coffee and tea selection. Minibar , iron and ironing board is also available. Breakfast is served at 11 floor with a nice and lovely terrace and an amazing view of the Naples’ gulf. Average options of ham and cheese and salted choice, while a good selection of sweets is offered ( Pastiera e sfogliatelle are the best). Staff is nice and polite, nothing extraordinary to be mentioned. Bar at the lobby is maybe a little bit expensive (12€ for a cocktail). If you do not have a Marriot membership, Wifi in the room should be paid; in the lobby or in common areas wifi is free of charge. The best part of this hotel is the location ( between Toledo & Municipio metro stop) , really close to Toledo shopping street and at a walking distance to main tourist attraction. Overall we can recommend this place for business or pleasure staying.
Absolutely comfortable, central and very well kept. Mind you, it’s a very new building. Gymn and Jacuzzi available. It has a nice bar. Price-wise: very affordable. Very good service. I really enjoyed it. Won’t lose the address! Many of the most famous places in Naples can be easily reached without the need of a taxi.
We stayed here the first night we arrived in Italy. The staff at the front desk was very welcoming and helpful, giving us honest advice about what to do and where to go in Naples. Breakfast was nice on the deck with views of Naples. We had a classic room, which we knew would be small (and it was). The bed was comfortable after a long day of travel and we have no complaints about the room, but it wasn't anything special. We would stay here again if we decided to visit Naples again (unlikely) but would upgrade to a more spacious room.
