The location is perfect for getting around the major points in the region. Room are good and service is above standards. The hotel staff made us feel welcome and some spoke English . Definitely caters to a non local clientele so you can expect a great overal experience.
The hot tub/jacuzzi located on the 10th floor gives you a view of the Bay of Naples that is indescribable. Hotel is located within walking distance of the ferries if you have plans to visit Isle of Capri, Positano, or other neighboring Italian port cities, this hotel is for you. Staff is friendly and very attentive to whatever needs you may have. My wife wasn't feeling well a few days & the staff/crew always asked how she was doing each day. Very efficient in what they do, I was very pleased with our 3-night stay. One of the best Hotels we stayed at in our 23-day European vacation. Would definitely go back- I recommend this hotel to everyone.
My experience at this hotel was soured by unfortunate experiences. First, I was dropping off my wife and baggage because I needed to quickly return the rental car across town. I was expecting a doorman to rush to our assistance, but I ended up leaving the car at the curb and carrying everything in myself. When I exited the lobby, guess who showed up to open the door for me? Grr. When I returned hot and sweaty from the race across town and back I stopped at the desk to ask for my room number. The clerk insisted that I needed to register with passport (which was already up in my room), and not until the other clerk with whom I had left my wife came back did she look beyond her screen to see my completed paperwork. I took the high tech and swift elevator to my floor, held my breath as I crossed the lobby smelling of cheap cigarettes, and found my room. Blessed rest, I thought, but no! There was but a single chair (already comfortably nestling my wife) and the room was NOT cool, even after the AC having run for half an hour. A call to the front desk yielded promise of the room's thermostat being checked, but when we later returned from dinner, the clerk said the room had been checked and was "already at 26 degrees". Um, I know my room temperature, and the room was at least 29° C. Not only that, but the feeble air vent from which I could barely detect a breeze was less than a meter away from the air return grate, meaning a small patch of ceiling was getting cooled, but nothing else. Poor hotel design coupled with reluctant engineering left us with a very unrestful night where I never once ventured beneath the comfortable down blanket (that's all there was...no top sheet). When we tried to venture out to enjoy the rooftop jacuzzi and city views, we found our door would not lock behind us. It was simply that the door's battery needed changing, but again we were inconvenienced for 15 minutes as it was fixed. The rooftop lounge was beautiful and comfy, quiet views of the Bay and lots of seats and towels, but again the hotels pecuniary habits showed through: the jacuzzi water was tepid at best, not the hot tub my feet and bones were hoping for. One chair, inattentive staff, anemic cooling, tepid hot tub: not what I would expect from J. Willard's brand name.
We only had one day and one night in Naples before flying home. Great location (close to the Castle and Hop-on and off Bus tours and shopping for those want that). The view overlooking the Bay of Naples from the rooftop terrace for breakfast alone is worth the stay! Breakfast had a good selection so I don't understand some reviewers' complaints. I also don't know why some reviewers call the rooms dated. Ours was very very nice and quite modern, clean, hardwood floors which are better than carpet for allergies, the window opened and the bed was Marriott comfortable. We would definitely book again.
After several days in Sicily, we headed north via train to Naples and stayed at this hotel for a couple nights. It could have been located in any big city in the USA and one wouldn't have noticed a difference, which was fine for us for a couple nights as we were in between lodging adventures. Check in was flawless and as a marriott member, they upgraded us without us asking. The room was small by american standards, but comfortable. The rooftop dining area was a great place for breakfast and had fantastic views of the city. they also had a small pool (or large hot tub?) and a even smaller pool on the roof too, which was nice in the late afternoons. All in all, if you are looking for an Italian hotel experience, steer clear, but if American is what you desire, this fits the bill.
Located in between the waterfront and the old city. Breakfast is great with an amazing view. Staff at check in was friendly. Rooms comfortable neat and clean. The bathroom though is a bit small which I guess is normal in European cities. Otherwise a good value for money.
I think it's impossible to find a better located hotel in Napoli. It's close to everything without having any of the major streets too close to be noisy. Having stayed here now for over 3 weeks in total, I've still have not found 2 rooms that look alike. They each have its quirks, but in general, they're clean and spacious. The breakfast offers a good selection, but after 3rd day it does feel it lacks variety. All in all, a predictable stay is always a good sign. I'll be back
Look, don't think "3" stars and think there was anything wrong here. The room was clean and larger than expected for european standards. Food and beverage were okay but nothing to write home about, you are after all in one of the great food cities in the world so why are you eating at the hotel? The highlight is the rooftop breakfast. All in all, I would stay here again - just don't expect anything to take your breath away.
It was not up to Marriott and Renaissance Standards. The rooms were old and musty and the breakfast was just ok (lots of breads and little of fruit and meats). The common areas were nice enough. The location is in main part of city, but not really near anything special. The customer service was friendly, but unable to do anything out of the ordinary. Don't expect much if you have Marriott Status. I have platinum and that didn't do anything for me. The hot tubs were both broken on our visit as well. The terrace has a good view of the water, but it's industrial with the cruise port and lots of run down buildings in the way. If you are looking for a work out room, they have a small one, but will give you access to a real gym next door. We stayed here to do a Pompeii tour and then head to the Amalfi Coast.
I have mixed feelings about this place: The location and the rooftop views (e.g. while having breakfast on the rooftop terrace) are incredible. Breakfast is for Italian standards pretty good with the best view possible. Also they provide valet parking for your (rental) car - comes in handy. However, everything else is rather average. In my opinion, this hotel needs a refurbishment to remain in it's price category as it is a bit outdated and oldish-looking. They were upgrading the whirlpools tough in the roof. During our stay, the electricity in half of our room was turned off. The wifi was rather slow. The rooftop terrace (not sun deck) was most days closed due to private events. To order drinks at the sundeck, you had to go down in bikini/bathing attire from 10th floor through the lobby to order it at the bar and bring it up yourself, for a heavy price - that is if the bartender liked you or not (some people did receive the service of delivery at the sun deck). Another time we asked for a restaurant recommendation NEARBY and the eventually we ended up walking 45 min (fast walking). Not cool. Another day the female reception staff was much more friendly and helpful tough. Not sure if I would stay here again.
