I had an ok stay at this hotel up until the last few moments. As we were preparing to leave at 7.30am I heard a male voice shouting from the car park as if they were arguing with someone but it was very one way. At 7.45am me, my wife, and two children left the room with all our belongings and approached the car park where our taxi driver was waiting (the shouting continued as we approached). Less than a minute later we arrived at the car park to find our taxi driving asking me if we can leave quickly as the Owner of the hotel has erupted into the biggest tirade of insults he had ever experienced. The taxi driver was very calm but I could see that he had been affected by this event so I immediately asked the man if he could stop shouting as me and my wife, 8 and 3 year old boys were now present. He replied by saying he was already having an argument when we approached and nothing is being directed towards us. I then asked again if he could calm down as regardless, we are now present. After speaking with the receptionist I understood that the taxi driver had parked closer to our room as we had 3 cases, a bag and a buggy - although he was in an unallocated space, he wasn't blocking anyone from getting past. As we got our belongings into the taxi and paid for our room, the Owner was then arguing with a coach driver who had a load of tourists getting on (this all happened in front of them too). I am a fluent Italian speaker, and the foul language used by the owner was disgusting. I found this whole event completely and utterly unnecessary and it tarnished our entire stay. I will never return to Montespina Park Hotel.
Excellent service far beyond any expectation, caring and kind staff, wonderful food and overall the best place to stay! Warm and welcoming atmosphere in a beatiful surrounding. We will most certainly return!
We stayed in a family room. The hotel looks to be undergoing modernisation and preparation for the summer holiday season - the outdoor pool looked very grand but was being maintained when we visited. Room was clean and spacious for four. Hotel staff were friendly, welcoming, happy to accommodate and spoke English. We ate in the hotel restaurant and were looked after by Giuseppe and Antonio. The food was typical of the region and very good - ask for the waiter to recommend a dish from the menu that would match your preferences.
I stayed two night, two different rooms at either end of a motorcycle tour. Staff friendly and great big car park for motorcycles but that's where it ends. Rooms tired and poorly cleaned and maintained. Pool empty and under repair. Gym closed. Food average to poor. Three bowls of tinned fruit at breakfast....really???? Staff were helpful and friendly. Portion sizes huge. Buy food average which is sad for Italy. Wouldn't stay again. Wouldn't recommend it. Old and clean is fine. Old and dirty and not maintained is not OK. See the photos. It wasn't me that bit the remote control...
Rooms are very good but there needs to be some attention to detail. Drapes in my room were old and starting to tear; the shower leaked and not all the lights worked. Similar story in the breakfast room - unused but dirty cup on our table; layout of buffet needs to have better flow; coffee urn empty and took ages to reappear full. This all sounds negative but the hotel is rather grand and in beautiful surroundings. I would stay again.
Nice hotel, excellent staff always helpful, very good breakfast, did not get a chance to use pool, little bit far from downtown Naples considering train timetables ( no such a thing 😀).Hotels room good equipped and clean.
I would reccomend montespina to anyone travelling for leisure or business to Northern Naples. The breakfast was simply amazing, possibly the best I've ever had in a hotel with a wonderful selection of continetal sweets and english breakfast, fruits and all other sorts of delicacies. The hotel is set in a wonderful park, a true oasis of silence and relax at the doorstep of naple's city centre. The staff is extremely polite helpful and professional: I had accidentally paid upon check-out whilst I had already been charged on my credit card. After leaving the hotel, as soon as I called the reception, Paola and Fortuna immediately made the payment to my card. The following day I had my money back. A big thanks and compliments to the staff! Will certainly return to this hotel upon my next visit to the campi flegrei area, hopefully in the summer to take advantage of their beautiful swimming pool. Keep up the good Work!
We chose this hotel for a couple of reasons - it received good reviews for its facilities, and it also has a nice swimming pool. This is true. The hotel is good, the staff are very friendly and accommodating, and the rooms are nice although surprisingly small for the traveller - especially considering it is not a city-centre hotel (I had a bigger room for less money in a 4* hotel in the centre of Milan, for example). The downsides to take into consideration: - The hotel is *really* remote. Even if you take the train, you are better off getting a taxi (if you can find one) to the hotel. It is a long walk uphill otherwise. - The hotel kept offering me 'a good rate' with their 'partner taxi company' for a ride to the local train station, or even into Naples. Beware - this 'special rate' differed by €20 between the 3 times we used their 'service'! - Although the breakfast is nice, and there is a good spread, the restaurant staff seem to be very lethargic and unable to multitask. If a customer asks for a particular item, the wait staff went off to do this job, and wouldn't return until it was done. If it was to cook an egg, then the customer lost this staff for up to 10 minutes. Meanwhile, the coffee had emptied itself, there was no more water or hot food etc. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel, unless you have your own car and some free time.
We had a lovely stay at the Montespina Hotel in Naples. The staff are very friendly and really do put themselves out to look after you. We stayed for three nights and four days and did the usual tourist things. Pompeii, Naples and the island of Capri. All of which were lovely. From a personal perspective the hotel is a little remote from the city centre with a typical taxi fair being in the region of 25 euros each way. Walking to the nearest Metro train is about 20 minutes or so through some pretty savoury areas. The taxi from the airport is 30 euros through the hotel and going back we were charged 40 euros by the same driver as he was not happy taking the same amount on the way back. This would be a much better summer location with the lovely outdoor pools and walks. All in all we had a great time.
Booked this last minute. A reasonable hotel but quite far out from Naples. Quite a walk to nearest train station and roads are crazy. Hotel has good facilities but pool was drained while I was there and gym closed. Staff are the hotel's best asset. Rooms are a bit grim being v. dark and stark decoration. Poor shower. Breakfast pretty awful (fake scrambled eggs). Not 4 star.
