As we were arriving late at night and leaving at mid day the next day I looked for a nice hotel in safe area ( no dragging luggage room naples looking for back street hotels at midnight!!) With this in mind i was happy to pay slightly more but opted for the cheaper internal room. On arrival, midnight and streets still teeming, we were greeted by friendly staff and given free upgrade to harbour view room on 4th floor. Very welcome. room itself was positioned well. Views like that are priceless. 2 balconies. Big bathroom. Double and single bed. The room was shabby but clean and charming. Its clear that there is a program of updating going on-i hope theymanage to keep this historic charm in newer rooms. The view in the morning was AMAZING. Foyer, breakfast rooms and bar all very beautiful. Position allowed a bit of sightseeing after breakfast ( buffet great coffee) 20 mins stroll to ferry.

Our stay at the Grand Hotel Santa Lucia was enchanted. The staff was an absolute pleasure to interact with: from Mr Mario, restaurant and bar chief, to Mrs Marienella, breakfast attendant to all the receptionists (I remember only Mr Giovanni's name but they were all wonderful!) we felt treated like special family guests. You get your first impression of this beautiful hotel when your taxi pulls in front of the impressive lobby. The building is a period building kept in pristine conditions and it is located just across the street from the famous Castello dell"Uovo in the Posillipo bay. Check in was seamless and our luggage was delivered to the room promptly. The room was decorated with rich imperial style furniture (the entire hotel is) The bed was nice and soft with feather pillows. The blinds are electronically operated by a switch on the side of the bed. Our room had a flat scree tv with Cable TV which allowed you to choose your language for programming. The bathroom was a bit small, but very clean and with a state of the art shower with rain shower head. Breakfast was a magnificent spread of typical napoletanian dishes, like Ricotta Infurtnata and Mozzarella di Bufala, and typical Anglosaxon breakfast of bacon, eggs, sausages and mushrooms. The location is absolutely breathtaking: the Via Partenopea in Chiaia. The waterfront comes to life at night and it is full of small restaurants. Just half a mile away is the Ferryboats port for Ischia and Capri if you feel like a day at the beach. Within walking distance is also the Castello Maschio Angioino, Piazza Plebiscito and the unmissable Spaccanapoli. The only thing that could enhance the experience is a pool, which unfortunately is not one of the amenities offered. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Naples. I know I will return soon!

Emailed the hotel prior to our visit and informed the management this was our 20th Anniversary, with no trouble we were upgraded to a Stunning Sea View, this made it extra special for us, the staff were always pleasant, polite and helpful. You are a credit to the Hospitality trade in Naples. massive thanks from us both.

Amazing location! Long Walk to AlliBus to airport. Very nice breakfast Small Lobby area. However the rooms and hallways need updating The hotel rooms feel old and worn out in need of renovation. I would have preferred the Continental Hotel next door, less expensive and seems in better shape but I didn't stay there so can't tell how the rooms are. I would give Santa Lucia a 3.5*

I could not have been happier, or luckier, to have arrived at the Grand Hotel Santa Lucia after a horrendous weekend of travel complications. I made a last minute reservation after flying into the BA shutdown in London and missing all my connections. My arrival to Naples was even more distressing, as my luggage was lost, and apparently, so was my driver trying to get to the hotel (which happens to be in a perfect waterfront location right on Via Partenope). I was so happy and relieved to be greeted by the night manager Giovanni Scapolatiello, who took care of me for the rest of my stay. This included calls to Lufthansa to track my luggage - which, by the morning was already tracked and on its way. I was elated to arrive to a lovely room, already cooled for me, with a view of the sea and balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples. Both the bedroom and bathroom were very large, as was my king size bed - also very comfortable. I was greeted with a perfect breakfast of coffee, fruit, and croissants in the morning - and an update from Giovanni regarding my luggage. I could not have asked for better service, a safe and sound night of sleep, and beautiful location to awaken to. Thank you to Giovanni and Grand Hotel Lucia for a wonderful stay - I will definitely return!

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The hotel lobby and dining areas are very nice. The rooms are a bit outdated, but have been kept in good condition. Our room (2nd floor) was very quiet, clean (there was some random debris under the bed however), and air conditioned. We had a balcony looking out at the castle and Napoli Bay Area. Someone mentioned that this is an unsafe hotel...maybe they just had a bad experience because we didn't feel unsafe at all. The hotel staff was very informative and they took our car to a garage for parking for about $20/night. They told us just to make sure our car doors were locked and to be wary of pick pockets when walking around Naples. The breakfast was delicious and offered a variety of food and beverage options. This hotel is located on the main tourist strip of Naples across from a castle. You can walk to restaurants and shops. We also booked a day tour of Pompeii and Vesuvius, and they picked us up at our hotel. Overall, it was a great stay, and we would stay here again.

We only had one night in Naples so we wanted somewhere nice- this didn't disappoint! The staff were lovely, striking just the right balance of helpfulness without giving us that sense of being 'hovered over' that some hotels seem to feel is required. Our room had 2 sets of doors, each opening onto a small balcony overlooking the harbour and the historic castle. The bed was super king, the linen was cool and crisp and the mattress was comfortable. Our bathroom was well-equipped... unusually for continental Europe, it had a full-size bath with a shower over. The bathroom was, apparently, green Guatemalan marble, but I'm no expert. It was clean, cool and a touch luxurious. The aircon was a bit noisy, but this was only a minor niggle in what was otherwise a great stay. Oh, and for the prime location on Naples' beautiful waterfront, not too expensive either!

The hotel looks great from the outside and from the lobby, but once inside, not so much. The rooms need fresh coats of paint, the taps in the bathrooms are missing some parts. The carpet feels like it's been there forever. Upside: you can get a lovely view if you choose a room with a balcony. Just ok.

IF YOU ARE THINKING TO STAY AT THE GRAN HOTEL SANTA LUCIA PLEASE DO IT TWICE. YOU HAVE PLENTY OF SAFE ALTERNATIVES CLOSED TO IT. DO NOT RUIN YOUR VACATIONS. We stayed the night of July 15 with my boyfriend. When we arrived (11 AM aprox) the room was not ready so we decided to leave our luggage at the storage as offered by the personnel at the front desk. The bell boy took it to the storage while we were departing. When we returned (19:00 hr) we realized that one bag that we left and was supposed to be at the storage was OPENED at the front desk and one passport was delivered by someone that said that found it in the street outside the hotel (as told by the personnel). They stole, among other minor personal items, a Nikon photo camera, a Saumsung Galaxy tablet and Samsung Galaxy mobile phone. The manager, that came after being called by the employee at the front desk, was not willing to take full responsibility on it, trying to say that was our mistake for not leaving some items at the front desk or the safety box. EVIDENTLY THEY HAVE ONE OR MORE DISHONEST EMPLOYEES, because it is almost impossible that someone could access a locked room. After receiving the police at the hotel (almost a bizarre situation, seemed not willing to investigate anything) and having to go the police station for the report, we had 2 pizzas ordered to the room (already paid, if not we would have left) that they weren't even able to invite them (they charged them when checking out).
